I live in the 7th Ward and my neighbors are selling the property that has been in their family for 3 generations, but since there were 12 children (all now above 50 years of age) they decided to sell and split the profits; in conversation with them I emphasized that generational wealth should not be dispersed with the sale of the property, and that they are loosing more than gaining by selling.
One of my goals of buying a home is to have something to leave my children - that they will always have a place to lay their head. I wish more families think about their descendants and importance of property.

But in reality in Southeast Louisiana Jim Crow laws has always been affect in every institution in Banks,hospital's, real estate markets in every aspect of society in Southeast Louisiana. Unfortunately the practice of the Jim Crow laws will still be in effect until the thinking of the residents of Southeast Louisiana changes. Because united we stand divided we all fall.
I can attest to North Louisiana also there are more landowners up north but then you have the others who manipulate to take it.

With an average similarity index of 78 from 1940-2000, New Orleans was the South's least racially segregated city, and the nation's 3rd least racially segregated city among the nearly 3 dozen or so city jurisdictions inhabited by 100k or more black residents in the nation. My father's old neighborhood, the 13th ward, which had been traditionally 50% white and 50% black, is now more 90% white and less than 10% black due to Katrina.
Uprooted black people from their homes and communities when they built the Earhart expressway, again when they built the University Hospital and many other instances.

New Orleans is majority black (nearly 60%). Series of Black Mayors since Ernest Morial and majority black citizens in government. The United States has had a Black President. The country is more divided now based on race fighting.
The LESSONS THAT THE COUNTRY LEARNED FROM MARTING LUTHER KING, that people should be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin, ARE BEING BROKEN DOWN the last couple of years, - - because of constant race baiting and FOCUSING on race differences - - especially by the MEDIA. Steering is illegal - -and Realtors don't do it because they will lose their licenses, and face heavy fines from the State Board of Realtors. This story seems to light fires & rekindle fears. Actor, Morgan Freeman, says the PROBLEM with race now, is that people need to STOP talking about it. He says that people do not want to always be perceived as VICTIMS. He grew up poor in Mississippi. He feels that there is no better time than now, for people to start from scratch, if they need to, in this country, and achieve their dreams. There are laws against discrimination, so that everyone can start from a level playing field.
Black citizens in New Orleans have not been the minority for a very long time. Times changed a long time ago.
Here are the current government statistics:
"New Orleans is more racially diverse than the U.S. as a whole. In 2021,
an estimated 59% of the population in New Orleans is Black,
while 31% are White non-Latino/a/x,
4% are White Latino/a/x, and 3% are Asian."
Black citizens have had the majority for a long time - - so if there is a problem, black citizens have had the power to fix it.
It would be beneficial for a Main Stream Media Outlet to refrain from race-baiting broadcasts - -
but here, it seems it is impossible.

Not talking about race won't make racism disappear. It just muffles the voices of those affected. While New Orleans has a black majority, that doesn't mean they alone must fix systemic issues. And you didn't mention anything from the video about redlining or restrictive covenants. But since its a black majority city and black people deserve the brunt of the blame how about white people give up all the land they stole and all the land accumulated through the redlining and covenants mentioned.
I love New Orleans and I hope the city can recover 😢

There are multiple cities with similar ‘separation’ communities and the sad part is that these are needed whether certain people want to hear that or not. Why would some people want to live in areas where crime is rampant and there is limited, if any, respect for law enforcement or their fellow citizens and even themselves? There will NEVER be a complete harmonious atmosphere in this world between ALL races but thankfully there still is plenty in those areas where mixed races understand the strength of humanity and actually wish to live life as a strong participant in society instead of continuing to be part of the criminal and respect-less sector that has been instilled into them for decades. Just my opinion. 🤷♀️

you've certainly got an opinion there! But let's not forget that crime often sprouts from systemic issues like poverty and lack of opportunity, not a universal lack of respect. Perhaps instead of blaming the victims of systemic inequality, we could focus on addressing the root causes? Also by "separation" being needed, do you mean the redlining and restrictive convenants referred to in the video? Kind of a big thing you overlooked there lol Just food for thought.

Hello from Oak Street, What pisses me off is the Huge Number of friends whos families were priced out of Carrollton after Katrina.
I avoid realy sharing my feelings, I remember in the 1990's when Covington was the White Flight Zone.
I have lived in Carrollton for 35 years, I Appreciate New Citizens to Our City.
