    My swift diesel 2011 ddis clocked 106000 is producing black smoke while accelerating, turbo is ok and there is not any oil consumption. Egr and intercooler cleaned at 80k, catalytic converter cleaned at 90k. No problems with Cold starts and the acceleration is great.Mileage 17.6 in city and around 20 on highways.Can't diagnose the problem.

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  Před 10 měsíci +1

      black smoke is mainly due to egr or dirty air intake sensors. Clean the air intake sensors and egr again and see if there's any change.

    • @dailyhandsdiy

      If the chain is too loose you get starting issues, chain sounds etc...It's should be the egr or sensors I guess....clean them properly..maf should be cleaned by removing the plastic guards and steel filter inside.

      Might be worth having a compression test done.
      Also might be a good idea to have the operating pressure and spray pattern checked on the injectors. I worked in a factory designing and testing diesel injectors for 11 years.

    Why higher leak off from the injector is bad? It goes back to fuel tank anyway, so how does it ruin the fuel economy?

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  Před 2 dny

      To goes back to fuel tank but thats not the issue...here, when the engine gets hot, it takes too much crank time to start up...sometimes it wont start.

      @@dailyhandsdiy I see, because it doesn't keep the rail pressure after turning off the engine, is that right?

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  Před 2 dny

      @TomSon-ej3pw Nop...rail pressure get released when the engine is turned off. And when you try to start the engine, rail takes time to get pressurised to optimum as a small amount of fuel leaks pass the injector leak off port and when the rail gets fuel pressure by excess cranking, injector starts to fire up. With a small leak from injector and excess leak off, fuel pressure in the rail goes down and the car wont fire up. This goes on. At certain point, rail gets stable pressure to fire up the engine.

    I have one insignia 2.0diesel.
    No smoke, but shaking when i push gaspedal.
    New: diesel filter, air filter, oil, coolant water cleaned air flow sensors. New timing belt, water pump and something other things. No fault code.
    When i go up to 3000rpm shaking gone and looks like give enough diesel. Goes without any problem after. Stop the car and shaking again with accelerating. And then is gone around 3000rpm. And to the next start goes easy. Maybe one injector is bad?

    I am here late, I hope I'd get an answear. I have kinda the same problem but on a renault so I think the forth one is the one all the way to the left(next to the timing chain) That one is filling up but the other took some untill they started filling and after that they were also filling slower. The problem I have is really BAD black smoke when accelerating hard and I think the problem would be the other 3 because instead of leading back to the tank the fuel gets sent in the cylinder and is more diesel in the mix than needed. In that case the other 3 are faulty. I don't know in your case because they seem to fill in sync. What do you think? Did you solved the problem?

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  Před 7 měsíci

      Here the problem was excessive cranking before start...it takes around 8 to 10 seconds to start and when hot, fails to start. the one with too much leak off was worn inside and leaks fuel back to return pipe causing delayed pressurising the rail. In your case, a black smoke can be seen if the turbo is malfunctioning, sensors malfunctioning, turbo boost leaks, egr sticking etc....

    • @dailyhandsdiy
      @dailyhandsdiy  Před rokem +3

      This doesn't mean any condition. Its excessive leak off from that injector. certain amount of fuel comes out injector from its working. It shoud be under certain limit...if its above the limit, you will get long cranking before start as hp pump has to work long to make fuel pressure.

      Yes exactly, when cold, the fuel will be denser and with bad injectors especially with bad or clogged nozzle, fuel get restricted to be sprayed at proper quantity. And when it becomes hot, fuel get thinner thus escapes the restriction and gets a better spray pattern. the engine smooths out. Same happens if the injector solenoid becomes weak. Cold and failing solenoid will be weak and when it becomes hot works better.
