- Exceptionally, I tried to restore a leader of the Autobots - Optimus Prime truck (movie version). I have to admit ... this Cybertronian, fictional extraterrestrial species of sentient self-configuring modular robotic lifeforms etc etc ... gave me hard time. Enjoy the video.

better question, why did Sentinel shoot the shit out of Optimus with his rust cannon 36 times? like come on i know Optimus has the plot armor of a Anime Main Character in the bay films but isn't that a bit overkill? Also because of the plot armor i just mentioned G1 is better, less plot armor.

Someone probably rusted it for the purpose of making this video lol
I was gonna say, this thing looks like it went through three wars and a nuclear explosion.
@@berenvonbaggins Optimus prime on cybertron wants to know your location
Yeah it was most likely weathered for the purpose of the video. I'm by no means studied in the field of earth science but I don't recall seeing any instances of plastic, rusting.
Look at the original O.P. Transformer truck in a toy store. The lage parts are diecast zinc alloy that doesn't rust, the rest are plastic that doesn't rust. The axles are steel that will rust and the tiny screws he removed probably are ferrous so may rust, so there's no way it could ever look like it does at the beginning when pieces were crumbling and even missing, like the grill. Small parts would lose their detail, at the least, before they rusted off. Did you see him repair or reconstruct any rusted pieces? Did you see pitting, holes, or even the slightest loss of tiny details on any parts? Did you see him paint black plastic parts black? Why did he do that? Did you see him actually apply that torch to any part? Would the torch be required on a small plastic part?
Besides reassembling the very easy to assemble toy; he is merely pretending to "restore" parts. Water in an airbrush will rinse soot off chromed plastic parts. On camera that looks the same as spraying chrome paint on black plastic parts. We are easy to fool
after seeing the "rust" covered toy. That makes us subconsciously assume the whole thing is steel. Steel and iron rust brown like that; not any other metals and certainly not plastic.
The rust is a crusty, easily washed off recipe; probably of something like molasses mixed variously with different shades of brown tempera powder. Loose rust could be cinnamon, toast crumbs, many things. Just to check, I was able to find out all I needed to know about the original toy's materials, just by reading ads and reviews by customers about this truck. So, in actuality, you wouldn't even have to examine one in a store to suspect and debunk this hoax. It would take a bit of habitual skepticism, critical thinking and, if that isn't enough, a little research.
Being curious & observant about how brittle, flaky, powdery and pitted small or thin rusty parts become, should have lead to many unmet expectations about what clever techniques you should have learned from the video. Even starting to read all the comments on this one video could have given us many clues there was plenty sketchy things about it. Keep asking questions until satisfied.
Me: *looking at a smashed hunk of rust that vaguely resembles a truck* "How did you even recognize it as- 0:52 - oh."

It's the RPM version: I must admit that I didn't realise the RPM Prime had been quite so large.
TheTurnipKing
I've seen a comment claiming this to be a Jada Toys diecast model or something, but I don't recall the undersides of those sporting sculpted images of the characters, which was distinctly an RPM detail.
@@coffeetext
It"s diecast (mostly zinc) and plastic neither of which rust.
The "rust" is a recipe of easily removed dried on gunk that resembles rust and makes a very easy to "restore" model. Just as fake as the "ramen noodles can repair anything" hoaxes.
