ATTENTION: There's one thing that global companies can do to compete with local brand Maruti is that they can start producing electric cars because taxation on electric vehicles in India is as low as 12%. So before it booms, there's a golden opportunity for global competitors to penetrate into Indian Markets that they can't miss. Waiting for pranjal sir to share his thoughts on this.

It still doesn't answer that why only Maruti "succeeded" and players like TATA and Mahindra didn't do so well.
Some factors to be considered that Maruti had practically monopoly in sub 5lac rs segment. No foreign player ventured in that segment. Also Maruti is not investing much in R&D. They have used same fiat sourced engine in multiple cars despite its being underpowered for bigger models. Same is the case with automatic gearbox where they are offering same old 4speed gear box in the era of CVT AND DSGs.
Summary is only volumes cannot be parameter for measuring success. Their volume success is threatened to fade away as Indian consumer aspirations are increasing and new normal is now shifting from 5-10lac rs car where Hyundai has better grip on the market

    2. It has advantage of being one of the first player in this sector.

I think what made Maruti popular was that they offered very affordable and family cars whereas other companies tried to make maximum profit by making expensive cars with very much facilities (expensive here means cars starting from 6-7 lakhs and plus). This increased the cars cost and so many people could'nt afford it. While others tried to make the car with more facilities, Maruti tried to reduce car making cost and focused on bettering the car's performance and that too at low price. Tried my best to answer. Now i am gonna see the video and see if i am right.

Maruti provides cars which can be afford by middle class people and maruti car design is so simple so that each mechanic can find solutions for most of the problems, so no need to go to showrooms only as like honda and other premium brands. Maruti service center also available in small towns alsoThese all things make it special.

Very good distribution network and may be of Neighbourhood mentality that we suffer from. Let's suppose that our neighbour buys a suzuki car and that obviously turns out to be a good decision and then we also get a sense of comfortability and trust with this brand

It has built a trust among customers, its low in safety bu high on mileage. Affordability is the key. Maruti has cars from 2.8lks to 13lks.Lot of options. Once a customer visits they have wide choice.

I think Suzuki’s easy service accessibility give its customers a peace of mind. In India any product with their good promise about service can prove its prominent presence in market. Thanks to our huge working population Suzuki take this opportunity to serve better.
