Originally hailing from Kalanaur near Rohtak, Haryana, Nawab Kokab Hameed's family earned the title of Nawab of Baghpat after settling in the area. The lineage traces back to Karam Ali, a senior government officer during the British era, who was bestowed with the title by the British for his service.
The architecture of the haveli reflects a blend of Iranian style, with artisans from Iran contributing to its construction. Within its walls lies a treasure trove of history, including a library established by Karam Ali, housing numerous historical documents.
Nawab Kokab Hameed, known for his passion for reading, frequented this library, immersing himself in knowledge daily. His family's reputation for excellence in administration and philanthropy earned them respect across religious and social divides.
