Watch again: Biden picks Air Force chief to become top US general

- Joe Biden announced who will serve as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top US military officer.
The president announced ahead of the official event that he has picked US Air Force chief General Charles Q Brown for the high-ranking position.
Brown is a former fighter pilot with experience in the Pacific, which could come in useful as the US experiences heightened tensions with China.
The officer's appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
If approved, Brown would be only the second Black officer to become chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, after Colin Powell 20 years ago.
A senior Biden administration official told Reuters that the president had accepted Mr Austin's recommendation to pick Brown for the position, as the officer "understands the strategic challenges the United States faces around the world."

because the 'mumbling, stumbling, bumbling' oval-office-occupant actually has said once that pilot sunglasses are cool. But there may be a practical reason as well: when the sun shines in one's face, one cannot read the teleprompter properly which would cause more 'mumbling'.

@@brielbrown216 A real shame to say that 'reading' is not yet a requirement. Be interesting to see if this air force general can get the Ukranian pilots trained in four months. I just remembered something about training pilots, which might perk your spirits: I was stationed at an air force base on the gulf coast early 70's; there was a single engine propeller aircraft mounted on a pedastal as a memorial at the gate entrance to the base. We had Vietnamese pilots being trained in single engine propeller aircraft there. The story about the memorial aircraft was told thus: a Vietnamese pilot on a training flight flew over the Gulf of Mexico making turns; when he was flying upside down, he then received the instruction to pull up. He did. Promptly the aircraft went nose down into the Gulf of Mexico. They never got that aircraft flght worthy again, so a monument was made with it. What was that again about training foreign pilots?
