- Hysen puts up some big lifts with a 166kg snatch, a 208kg and 211kg clean and jerk. We kept these under wraps but now that Hysen is off to London, we are posting them. Hysen's body weight at the time was about 83kg.

This is one of the best lifters I have ever seen. With the right country he would be a world champion for several years. Absolutely amazing speed, that is just a natural gift he has. He can still add more muscle to his frame also.
Feel a little silly saying this but I got emotional watching this clip. You guys have been very open about documenting your relationship with Hysen and his commitment to excellence in the sport of weightlifting. As a viewing fan it was powerful to watch him hit these monumental lifts. Thanks for sharing :)
As shady as it may sound, his coaches should have had better foresight. He was the first one caught in London, which had to be embarrassing, All that hard work went to shit.
Agree 100%. Also as an aside, in the realm of steroids there are much better ones than stanzolol..
I think he may be banned for life now too. That's pretty sad especially when you watch those videos of him training at the age of nine.
Yes, strike two with the IWF is a lifetime ban. Very sad. He will probably lose most if not all of his stipend in Albania and have to pick something else up, like playing an accordion.

No substance can take away the work and dedication needed to be a world champion, its unfortunate that athletes have to resort to substances to simply compete and make their podium dreams a reality. My admiration for Hysen or any other athlete caught will not change because of something that society deems wrong for no real reason but moral grounds..i look forward to watching him in the future despite what results he gets..
Legend on the making! He is an amazing weightlifter and really lucky to have the guidance of coach Abadjiev.
For me personally, this video - and the other footage of Hysen on this channel - is some of the most beautiful in all of sport. As an intermediate weightlifter, I am inspired every time I come back and see this.
Please know that many of us don't judge anybody about what happened. I just want to see Pulaku continue to lift. It is truly amazing.
Sheldon Kreger it surely is a beauty.
I know your comment is really old but figured I’d tell you that I asked him on Instagram live twice if he’s coming back and he laughed and said no. Another instance I asked him what he does now for a living since he’s not training. Again I asked him on instagram live. He laughed while smoking a cigarette and drinking a coffee with a female individual and a male individual in plain view and replied “nothing. I don’t do nothing” with a smile. He was the greatest that never was
awesome. love his second pull! good luck in London, Hysen.
Crazy lifts! Good luck in London.
This guys deserve all the success in the world and even though this gets said on every video off his but ill still say it GOD DAMN HIS SECOND PULL!!!
>set a PR
>let's throw on 4kg more
dat attitude
thanks for sharing the video and the evolution of the Albanian weightlifter Hysen.greetings to all Ian, Adbajiev, Krastev and other lifters.
Thanks for the info. That's definitely a game changer. I'd be crazy if I sat here and typed I never thought Hysen would do such a thing but I'm a big boy and understand the world we live in. When the curtain is pulled back, it's not always what we want to see.
Fantastic lifting, you can medal, good luck Hysen!
Wow. That's all I can say is wow. His technique is spot on, he is quick getting under the bar both for the clean and the jerk, that's just raw power. Very impressed
What a great way to finish up before London. Can't ask for more than that. Hopefully competition day brings it all together.
Amazing athlete. Good luck, Hysen :)
Absolutely mind blowing.
thanks for the kind words.
still some of the most savage lifting you will see on CZcams...
he has my support regardless of what happens.
its good to see him back ;)
Hysen will wear gold. He will help restore new hope and reason back to the world of drug free athletes. Hard work, dedication, passion, and most importantly the love and support of friends and family will prevail and guide this young man to achieve his biggest goals. Hysen will be the rise of a new era when no one can discredit or take anything from your success. Congratulations here and the best of luck in London.
I wonder how many winstrol tablets Ivan was having hysen eat that day
I miss Hysen so much! Bring him back please. We love Hysen!
Excellent lifts. Nothing more to say
His knees dive in on every single lift that scares the hell out of me. Super impressive though.
Going for gold! Lets go Hysen!
Best of luck Hysen!
absolutely outrageous, such a hard worker, such a dedicated man, banned for absolutely nothing. I am so upset
His speed under the bar on the snatch is AMAZING!
yes, when his second pull is strong, the bar is in a good position and he will usually make his jerk no matter how much he struggles getting up.
good luck in london!
the first time i saw hysen was while watching the 2011 paris world weightlifting championships. his progression since then is unreal.
I never heard of the 218kg clean and jerk. I saw him snatch 173kg during a practice two or three years ago, I believe. Donny is one of our favorites.
the chump is stephen powell, he is a friend of mine and he made an honest mistake. I told him California Strength paid to have Abadjiev come to the USA. At the time I told him that, I was a part of California Strength, and he made the reasonable assumption that i was part of the whole deal, but actually, it happened before I became involved with CalStrength.
wow. do you guys not realise that there's no one who makes it to the olympics is actually "clean" the testing is not really an indication of that, it's just someone who has cleaned up well and the unlucky ones who's coaches didn't make the maths too well.
I'm complete shit at weightlifting. But watching weightlifting, compared to damn near everyone else, Hysen is the god damn most savage, most efficient lifter there is. It's unfortunate he got popped, (maybe hire a chemist?) he's god damn beautiful to watch. Hopefully he eviscerates the competition in '16.
Most efficient? Not even close.
bravo pulaku...good luck in america! pershendetje!
Earlir in the year before U.S. Nationals. he cleaned more. he hurt his neck at U.S nationals losing a 170 snatch that came down on his head/neck. His coach Glenn told me this and glenn is they guy who brought Abadjiev over to the U.S.
Raw power and speed mad
amazing
I hope everything turns out well. What supplements does he take?
To be able to win any olympic medal, especially in weightlifting, you have to take performance enhancing drugs. He just played by the rules, but got caught.
is it possible to watch london weightlifting in america with basic cable? or is there a free online stream? someone please respond because I want to see farris hit some prs (also klokov, khadzimurat, and salimi of course)
Didn't you see the videos of him as a youngster?
He's been lifting and working hard for a very long time.
He didn't come out of nowhere, he worked hard to get these numbers.
I agree with you. His knees have a terrible inward swing to them. I noticed that as well I just didn't give it to much thought. Definitely don't want to advise lifters that kind of knee action.
Some of us still think that Hysen is an amazing lifter, regardless of what happened. Any other fans who want to see him come back?
hopefully sir you will bring him back, i thing he is very talented and he works hard...with regards an albanian!
I will be very sad cuz I can't see Hysen.I had expected his game for two month......
Hope he will compete 2016 !!! He is awesome.
Way to dial it in, Hysen. Keep it tuned... bring it to London.
Do you have any contact with Hysen? or has he quit permanently?
that's some speed under the bar.. damn..
ilya ilin was a world champion at 17 years old.
that was immense..
The 20-year-old tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol on 23 July and the International Olympic Committee confirmed Pulaku had been ejected.
As of right now, Pulaku just tested positive for doping. He stated he hasn't taken any banned substances and will take another test. I HOPE IT'S NOT TRUE!
211 jerk...impressive!
do you know if Hysen will be lifting in the A group in London?
son of a gun! son of a gun! son of a gun!
Given the misunderstanding and the fact that it might look like I had claimed something that was not true, Rippetoe encouraged the readers of his forum to come and read the comments of this video. So, I thought I should set the record straight.
why straps? arent they not permitted in competition? still impressive though by all means
Nice.
Holy shit. Any plans to move him up to 85kg?
Okay, may I asked what happened recently? Injury? Thanks.
I don't really understand how you could not think hes an amazing lifter regardless of what drugs he takes
very talented athlete...a lot of albanian weightliftiers is strong... when u have a good coach and training camp u can achive good result...
i know of people that started lifting before hysen and still at age of 25 they never came as far as this kid has, and he is only 19... you can't see why i am a bit in doubt ?
Why did you wait until Hysen left to post this video?
no argument. Hysen is in Albania. We are trying to communicate with him. It may take a while. I would like to get him back here but it may take quite some time for him to recover from this incident for many reasons.
Nice
we did not want to broadcast what he was doing to his competition. Now that they're all off to London, it is not necessary.
Tells you something about the Bulgarian system?
I wouldn't say none, but very few yes.
nobody can take what he has achieve not even this
I can't believe my eyes!
Of course they will. No one is going to go out there and say that everyone at the top of their game is using something that's banned and so they can't simply say they are 100% behind him. It looks bad.
But I'm sure they are because they know he can do very well.
These are training lifts. Donny's best training lifts are 173 and 218. I don't know what your point is in bringing Donny up. I do hope Hysen can do these lifts in London. Time will tell.
Since Mark Rippetoe has now told people that the comments are very important to read on this thread, I will publicly say that I had nothing to do with Abajiev coming over here. I got to CalStrength after he had come and gone. This confusion was probably caused by CalStrength facilitating his living in california, and me being involved with CalStrength at some point after that.
He took protein, Podium Gold and B-12 here. We obviously may not know everything he has taken but for now, we will give him the benefit of the doubt. If he made a mistake, we won't turn our backs on him but we will not defend him either if he has taken something knowingly. We will see how this unfolds. Regardless, we will not ban him from our gym.
I'll wait until we find out what the banned substance is before making judgement but regardless, Hysen must be devastated. That's countless hours of tonnage down the drain. He'll need some time off to clear his head and determine the next step. I wish him the best and hope he continues his dream. He's still young.
What's with that right knee
This is standard procedure. He would be reinstated if the results change.
That sucks! I was looking forward to him lifting. Now two of my favourite lifters are out (hysen and liao hui)..Avvvvvvvvvvveraage
wow thats right!
Any updates in Hysen?
why am i not able to find an oly gym in south florida?
Not yet
Its a real shame this has happened. I was really looking forward to watching Hysen lifting and winning a medal. Hopefully the second test shows it was a false positive and he does get to compete.
Wow @his speed
What happened to Ian Wilson?
whats up with his knee?
Such a shame he got caught. There's no need to reiterate what everyone else has said. Cycling does happen. Regardless of the substance, no average person could replicate the same lifts as Hysen. Whether he did or didn't know, I hope he gets another shot. I'm not totally familiar with the rules of substance bans. Good luck Hysen.
What's the latest on Hysen?
Wow.. great lifting for how much he weighs.
Definitely not lately, but it has happened.
well... what does that have to do with anything, really ? i'm actually discussing about hysen, lets keep on track ! :)
well that sucks
the guy was trying to win, give him credit for that. and he had a solid chance of doing so. It's obvious the top guys in his weight class are cycling, lu xiaojun su dajin etc, he just happened to get caught. Sucks. Hopefully they don't ban him too long.
Son of a guuuuuun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pause at 3:03 then compare that to the first pull of Hysen to say Lu Xiaojun's..One lifter is 'spot on', the other looks like he's about to rupture every ligament in his knee.
completely agree. even if he is 100% guilty his lifts are still amazing. if you give 1000 people steriods at his bw, none would put up his numbers.
He has already cut most of the weight.
