- Regarded as Britain's most versatile bike rider, Tom Pidcock joins presenter and former national road champion Matt Stephens for the Sigma Sports Cafe Ride.
Setting off on a drizzly morning in late November, Matt and Tom rode an easy route to a local cafe near his winter residence in Belgium. There, they discussed Tom’s goals for a jam-packed racing season in 2024, with plenty of laughs about aerodynamic vegetables and the hierarchy of biscuits along the way.
The ride concluded with a trip to the town of Boom to visit a cycling museum and to tackle a lap of the cyclocross circuit, where Tom won a World Cup race in 2022.

From Pogi to Pidcock in a week, what a series!
MVDP next?? 😊
Exactly, earned a subscriber. I like Tom's Transparency
What can we say, we wanted to sign off 2023 in style!
Well done@@sigmasports Lets start with a bang in 2024 featuring MVDP!
Then Jonas Vingegard next or WTV 😅
I've said it before and I'll say it again. GCN were absolutely mad to let Matt Stevens go. He's an absolute diamond.
24 years old and already a legend. These episodes are epic...
🙌
He's a gem of a boy.
53 years old and still a legend. These episodes are epic...
Thanks Tom and Stephen to stop at our cycling museum in Boom! It was a very short stop but hopefully you enjoyed it
We had a blast. Thank you for such a warm welcome!
Love Pidders ..his Alp d'Heuz stage is one of the best stages of any Grand Tour ever ever
It was immense. Here’s to more moments like that for Tom
Pidders ?
It wasn't
@@grahamelliott6041 His nickname.
Matt is so funny.
Nice
Nice😊
Without our host these wouldn't be nearly as good, he has a way of making people feel at ease. This series is so good!!! Tadej then Tom, NICE!
No way is this going to be as good as the recent Pog episode I thought. Then we get the aero properties of peas versus carrots. Brilliant. Another quality episode.
Aero veg is always a winner 🥕
Well done Matt, rode the whole ride blindfolded, skills!!
The product placement in the café is hilarious 😂
He's the only Red Bull sponsored athlete I've ever seen actually open and drink the prop Red Bull. I was somehow genuinely surprised by that.
Urgh. Yet doesn't drink coffee. Nowt queer as folk as he would say.
I'm guessing alpro is product placement, too? It was in a long shot of Pogacar's fridge door, and here it's prominently featured as well. Company based in Belgium so not unlikely to sponsor cycling.
So subtle 🤣
Notice he does not drink alot of it...
If you have a Pinarello in every room of your house you have accomplished it.
just lying around all over the place 😂
And then ride cyclocross on a Dogma
What a down to earth guy Tom is, someone who does it for the love of riding. Such an animator of whatever race in whatever discipline he is participating in, a great champion.
A champion that is sure to have a long & successful career in front of him
He is a joy. ❤
Tell me the tire size you use t Thank you😊
In the U.S.A. we had the pleasure of having Mr. Pidcock in the Los Angeles area in post season 2022. He left but not before planting a Strava KOM British flag on one of the most iconic climbs in Los Angeles. Legend....
You know what, chapeau to the production team on these last two Cafe Rides. They are beautifully put together: tight editing, well shot, music on point. They also benefit from two good personalities as the subject as well but hopefully this is the start of a quality new series.
Thank you Richard. Means a lot!
Yes definitely a step up from the episodes from a few years ago !
Tom is a legend at the age of 24. The descent of alpe d'huez will forever be one of the top moments in cycling, I had the pleasure to meet him at VIA in kings cross not long ago and he really is a an excellent chap. Cant wait for another legendary performance by Pidcock this year.
He’s a star. 2024 is going to be a cracker for Tom, we are sure of it!
While the descent was epic; what is most important that he won the most coveted stage in the TdF. This guy’s future on road, cyclocross and mt bike is unimaginable. I’d like to see him win some road spring classics like Paris Roubaix, Flanders, etc
A show with Matt in it and a natural laughter attack is guaranteed
Love these videos, more please.
Cela doit être l'un des meilleurs Matt, je te remercie. Prenez plus de temps avec les jeunes coureurs d'aujourd'hui. Excellent.
I’m 2 decades gone from the cycling world and this series has made me subscribe to the channel and dust off my old steel horse. Brilliant videos. Thanks!
Love to hear this. Glad it has got you back on the saddle Luke!
Our Tom loves 'is cake. Good lad. Halfwheeling at the cafe!!! Now Matt, peas are the least aero veg as they are a sphere and we all know round tubes and less aero. Clearly a parsnip is the most aero veg, look at the cross section. LOL Only Matt could come out with the "which biscuit would you be paid in" question. Classic Stephens. Never change Matt, never change.
35:48 the bleeps as Matt past those kids was hysterical 😂
Videos like that are one of the many reasons that I love being a cyclist. Coffee, cakes, tarts, ridiculous lunacy, conversation all good fun.
Matt is so funny. He really brings the athletes down to earth and they enjoy being around him. As for Tom, at such a young age, he has accomplished so much. Its amazing. His future looks so bright. Wow.
Oh man this was 38 minutes of pure smilling for me. What a lovely episode!
2 back to back brilliant episodes, thanks so much Matt and team👍
Our pleasure. Glad you enjoyed them!
We are so lucky to have these videos. Love seeing how these legends live, hear about their lives, etc.
Nice chap Tom. Seems very intellectual. Gives alot of thought to what he says. Very analytical.
Enjoyed that.
Best cafe ride yet, great stuff.
Love this cafe ride series, especially hearing their thoughts and stories. Can't wait for the next one!
This is why I love cycling - it's one of the few sports where the pros train in public and you might cross paths with them at a local cafe somewhere - love how accessible the sport is for fans. Wouldn't bump into an F1 driver out training in an F1 car!
Absolutely brilliant cafe ride Matt. Yorkshire legend 🍻😃👍🇬🇧
With GCN gone this is the content I desperately need
I will never tire of the sights and sounds of Matt falling off his bike 😂😂
These reports vlogs provide insight into the lives of racers in a non-binding and fun way, which is highly appreciated in a cycling-minded country such as Belgium👏👍😍
Brilliant interview Matt. These are fabulous!! Pogi was revelatory in his episode as was Tom’s. Interesting and revealing. More please!!!!
who doesnt love matt stephens.....hes a brilliant ambassador for cycling.....these interviews are epic...
Another classic episode.. thanks sigma. Tom's a nice fellow as well as a champ.
Very humble and sympathetic rider, didn’t expect this 👍
The front door was a legend in itself. What a lot of achievement Tom has had in a short time. I'm envious of his bike stable.
I really like Tom, very unassuming and humble considering his achievements :)
He’s class both on and off the bike, that’s for sure
Seriously, of all I watch on CZcams, this is what I look forward to most! Chapeau!
Please make more of these. Love all of them. The most intriguing collection of the human side of world class cyclists (young and not young). I hope you keep up the work!!
After the heartbreak of GCN closing shutters, I went searching for a new love to fill the void and discovered The Cafe Ride! Absolutely love these.
Only the app closed
That's got to be one of the best Matt, thank you. Please bring us more with the young riders of today. Brilliant
I’ve only just discovered Matt and his cafe rides. Matt is a fantastic host, asking great questions, often with a fabulous sense of humour. Tom is a lovely man too! I can’t wait to watch the next in this series.
I love this whole concept..Matt you make me laugh and think..thanks a million
Tom has been my favourite, even though I only started watching Tour de France about 3 months ago
Cheers Mates!!!! instant Classic... Keep 'em coming and make sure all the boys/girls laugh as much as possible. See the true side!!!
Thanks, Matt -- Your videos always bring up the spirits!
Wonderful watch thank you 👍 Good luck for 2024 Tom and your videos Matt. Chapeau 👏
Thanks for sharing and being so transparent. Wishing you all the best for the 2024 season !
I've just started in the sport and I'm loving this series so far!
These are incredible! What a great series.
Hello from Victoria BC Canada🖐.
I really enjoy these Café Ride videos and getting to know the riders and their daily lives. Its great to see the human side of these great athletes. I find it super funny when Matt rates coffee, I do that everywhere I have coffee, it drives my riding buddies bonkers. Keep uo the good work Matt and Team, thank you, really appreciate it🙏🙏
Two great riders on the cafe ride in few weeks time, awesome! If Wout van Aert is a big fan of this show Matt, get him on next that would be something I would look forward to.
Now a massive Tom P fan. What a great bloke!
A legend, for sure!
I love this series! So far friendly legends as guests, who would want otherwise? !!
Love this series!! keep them coming please!!
Total class! These new Cafe rides are the best Christmas present ever!
What another brilliant video, well done to everyone involved. Tom is a great guy and a machine on any bike.
Sensational - good luck for Tom for the upcoming road season!!
First minute sold me two blokes having a laugh and having fun
The best recipe for a good time!

Great footage and Interview Guys. Its was great to see you both outdoors riding as well having a chat and not just inside and seeing the sights and nice places.
Could watch you two all day!

More of these rides! Such a good watch.
Please please please…keep doing these episodes! So awesome!!!
Matt is Brilliant! " I fell off and a little fart came out." Good stuff!!! Meant about the video.
Fully red bulled and shades in the museum! Sweet 👌
Loving these Café rides, not a big cycling fan, but getting drawn in by these.
Thanks Danny!
Watched the GCN bloopers this week, not the same without this man's laugh 😂
Thank you for doing these!!!!!! MORE MORE MORE MORE!!!
Great video! At 25:00 Tom said” nothing gets any easier, you just go faster”.
A Greg LeMond quote from the old days is still the truth .
And boy is he fast!
I love Tom's tenacity. Here's to a cracking 2024!
I enjoyed the cake part most. Lovely monoglasses btw, reminds me of both inuits and Afrika bambaata
Great episodes! I hope you have more to come 👍🚴♂️
Great watch
Nice to watch this series where its not all about carbon, aero, hookless, ceramic bearings or the best and worst kits. Nice job, great to see you back.
excellent Red Bull product placement in the cafe. Top job! (Seriously, Tom's a great interview, very quirky and entertaining!)
My god, how many of my heros are you going to interview before the year ends? Riding along on a fun ride with the greatest living cyclists; what a job you’ve found.
Awesome, keep producing these rides!
"If you look after your bike, your bike will look after you." This has become my mantra every time I´m reluctant to clean my bikes.
we need matt+ and we are willing to pay!
first energy drink sponsorship I've seen drink the product, good lad!
Another brilliant video by Sigma Sports. This is the first video I’ve watched on New Year’s Day and it’s put a huge smile on my face. Thank you Matt for showing us just how down-to-earth these professionals are. Hands down, this is the best cycling content on the internet. Keep up the good work. Cheers mate! 🍻
Thank you for your lovely feedback! Glad to hear you enjoyed it.
I'm just getting into cycling and having Tom on the up as a Brit around my age is going to be awesome.
Thank you Matt and happy new year
Best one so far! So down to earth! Kudos
LOVE THIS !!!! Congrats from Portugal
Thank you!
You absolutely need to do more of these as a series. Really good video
