- Origami" comes from the Japanese language - "ori" meaning folded and "kami" meaning paper. For Kyoko, paper is a metaphor for life. You make use of what lines and points there are, and you create something out of what you've got.

I just finished folding my 1000 cranes. I dedicate them to my sister who is recovering from an eating disorder after she tried to end her life earlier this year. I wished for her happiness and recovery
@Mouzly - We are very sorry to hear about your sisters challenges. Please send her our love and healing kindness from across the seas in South Africa 💚
I hope everything gets better for both of you, peace
Great 😊
Paper as life. What a wonderful metaphor
Glad you enjoyed this story. Warm hugs, Justine and Michael. 💚
I've always been bad at origami. But I'm doing 1000 cranes, hoping to help someone very special in my life: myself.
Nowadays I feel so broken hearted and left behind, and I found some calmness folding paper. Currently at 53/1000
Thank you for sharing these thoughts with us Jesús, for watching our video. May the work with your hands and the paper give you healing and more positivity again. Keep it up. We wish you all the very best. Warm hugs, Justine and Michael. 💚
This is soo beautiful!!!! Helping yourself wow what an inspiration❤ May all those beautiful crane bring you healing❤
Ánimo Jesús Andrés,
you already on your way of healing because you know that you are a very special person. Loving yourself will help you find the peace and happiness you deserved
I hope you heart is restored by now 🙏
Origami is deeper than i actually thought
It's a mindful meditation.
2:28 I want to give her a hug. I do paper art and make origami jewelry. Being a co-creator really brings you into a high vibration.
For a couple years now I have began to study more about Asian culture, starting when I got into Asian dramas and then took an eastern religion and philosophy class. I'm not an expert, but I tend to find that in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese cultures (perhaps others as well but those are the ones I'm most familiar with), through various forms such as language, music, art, etc., they tend to have a simplistic yet poetic way of doing it. This video was the perfect illustration as to how origami fits into that culture of creating clean and aesthetic arts, and it's beautiful.
@Hailey B. - thanks for sharing a little bit about your journey with us, and also for taking the time out to hear Kyoko's story. We have so much that we can learn from other cultures that lie outside of our own - when we're open to it. Keep exploring. And also keep tuned in here to our channel for a new short story of inspiration, out every single Wednesday xx
I got very emotional watching this. Started getting into origami by chance earlier this year. Didn't understand why it was so calming until after watching the video.
@MagmaDragon - Origami is a a beautiful art, a craft, a science and a meditation all in one. Enjoy the journey as it unfolds for you. And keep tuned into our channel for a new film out every single Wednesday. Justine.
I have to keep watching each video to see that there are so many truly beautiful people in this world. Thank you for your channel and all the beauty in it🌷
It's such a pleasure to share al these videos with you. Glad you like them so much. Warmest hugs, Justine and Michael. 💚
Much ❤️❤️❤️ to this woman, Kyoko!
She's such a glorious person..
💚
the thing she said about a fold being like scar that never goes away... but then you use that fold to create something new. that is so beautiful, powerful and true.
Wonderful these words spoke to you so deeply, they are certainly thought-provoking. Sending much love, Justine and Michael. 💚
Now how did I miss this one? It is absolutely beautiful!!!
I was just working on an origami lesson plan for my middle school art students when this popped up. I said, "Oh! It's my favorite - Green Renaissance. It's gonna be amazing!" And, it was.

So happy you found it now at a time when it fitted so much, Susan. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. Much love, Justine and Michael. 💚
Great speaker, thanks for sharing your story!
Thank for sharing this video. This reminds me of an old friend François Walter. He's a french illustrator and writing books for children. He's also making one about introducing origami to kids. Origami is not only fun but also a very therapeutic artwork. The crane origami is a very special piece. I hope he finds this video and also wish him well. 🙏🙏🙏
You are welcome, so glad you enjoyed this video. Sending you warmest of hugs, Justine and Michael. 💚

When bad things happen, we have a choice. We can replay that bad situation over and over in our mind, thus creating more bad future situations.
Or, we can choose to think and do something good, like making paper cranes, or visualizing different and better life.. . and with continued, cultivated positive thoughts and actions, in time our lives change for better.
We are the creators of our own lives.
Thank you for this reminder.
Malgozata, you write the most beautiful comments - thank you.
Yes, you are so right - we are the creators of our own lives.
Have the most beautiful week.
Best wishes,
Justine and Michael

Thank you Aswathi. We are glad you enjoyed this video. Warm wishes, Justine and Michael. 💚
Reminds me Kahlil Gibran's wooden flute analogy. God burrowed the holes in your early life, so he could eventually play his lovely music through you.

When I was younger, I read the 1000 crane story in Kumon. Haha. It was one of the only story’s that I remember and love. A while back I started making them, but only got to 100. I am going to start again. Restart. With better, pure intention.
Wonderful - let us know how it goes :)
Beautiful
So beautiful and peaceful 👍

Thank you for the response! Unfortunately, there was only 1 girl - i advertised it poorly. But we both enjoyed it still. We made a sanbo box and a crane, of course.

Do you happen to have sth about tolerance? It's UN tolerance day on thursday and i want to do sth with kids
