Fantastic episode with some really handy information. Anything can be done DIY but depends on your capabilities and experience, however if you are in an accident and the modification proves to be the cause of the accident, your insurance company may not cover you and you could be held responsible. Ronny may have to move the bat cave if he gets too many knocks on the door

The in-deflate I find inaccurate unless you are on flat level ground you won’t get an equal deflated pressure in each tyre. Even car weight at all 4 corners can affect the pressure to each of the tyres. In the end you end up deflating one tyre at a time to get the pressure you require as you cannot measure pressure in one wheel.
My recent trip to Wilbinga I aired down my rear tyres with the indeflate, gauge displayed 15psi. When I removed the indeflate and checked with my known pressure gauge one tyre showed 10psi and the other 22psi, I have a fridge on the side showing 10psi. You can say deflating is a process of getting approximately to your working pressure, yes, but if you need multiple devices to get there then it’s a waste to buy this. I also have the BossAir and my set is unfortunately unreliable, I set the pressure at 10psi and the deflator will stop at 28psi, you pull the release stem again and it won’t hold open…sigh! I have pulled them apart and lube the internals! So now I have gone with the Staun, haven’t used them yet out on the track but in the driveway they work well…

Do I need heavy bash plates, if I’m not rock climbing?

I was thinking that this week when l was servicing my vehicle. I don’t rock crawl, but do a lot of off-road touring. When l took my bash plates off there was a lot of dents and dings and damage on the bash plates.
      Good question though.

only if your vulnerable components are low and likely be the first to hit something. Some cars are well designed and tuck the oil pan, transmission and radiator up.
some, it's the lowest part of the undercarriage - so it's the first thing to hit

It's good to have to protect everything under there from rocks and other debris that could damage your engine etc... but not necessary

One thing I have found with mine is that when u lower the pressure below 20psi (approx) and then go to remove the hose off one of the tyres, I’ve found that air continues to come out of the hose from the other tyre that has the hose still connected.
Not sure if this is a common fault. I’ve just put it down to not enough pressure to shut the internal valve in the hose…
Would like to know if others have experienced this as well?

Unfortunately, no matter what rated suspension you have, if you do not have an engineering certificate and inspected, you aren't legal and your insurance is voided.

    • @michaelbaylis1631
      @michaelbaylis1631 Před 6 měsíci +1

that is factually correct, but not reflected in the operations of any insurance companies. so stop stating that, as if that is reality.
Through accidents that have not been my fault, I have had multiple cars written off. Also had insurance claims for roo strikes and a washout that snapped a strut tower .
all vehicles were extensively modified. And insurance never checked and never cared about the modifications.
Not only that, they even covered my suspension components that were well over 4 inches.
If there was an accident clearly caused by illegal modifications, different story.
but no, insurance companies do not void your cover when putting a claim in.
I'm yet to hear of anyone being voided for unrelated claims due to suspension lifts.
Like I said, factually correct but that's not how it works in the real world

@@michaelbaylis1631 LOL, yes insurance companies just love paying out on policies when they do not have to. No worries, do not let the facts get in the way of your argument.
