Me, a woman born in the mid-80s, watch a lot of movies from the 70s. I watch videos and listen to music from that time. Great bands, high quality music, it seems like they were fun years. And despite knowing that time doesn't go back and that the time machine will never exist, I like to think that it would be so great to go back to 1968 and stay until 1980...I could enjoy so many amazing shows. Thanks Jose, these episodes are excellent documentaries of those good times that I can only experience in my daydreams. See ya 👋

Not shitting, when I saw Zep April 10th 77' Chicago, that was the best damn concert I ever saw. It was my first and they ruined it for all the rest. Jones Alembics mere massive, active pickup monsters and blended with Bonzo like some monster machine. That low end was so strong it felt like a wave coming at you. Guitar was massive and rode above the din of the rhythm section. One of the loudest, but best mixed concerts I went to. No one could believe four people were making such a massive sound. When Zep were on in 77', they were better that they had ever been before.

Brilliant again by JCM. I think I have read everything about Zeppelin, I definitely own every book written about them, yet somehow Jose tells me things I didn't know. "Welcome to three hours of lunacy." Bonham and Jones are immense in these shows. Bonzo maybe, just maybe, has never drummed better live. 1977 was the ultimate tour of excess, so over the top, total madness off the stage and on and then ultimately, the tragedy that forever cast a shadow over the band. This time in the band obsesses me. Thank you JCM, once again. Eye, thank yew.

Solid gold, as ever. Wonderful! Keep them coming, Jose. 🙂 I have been a Zeppelin fan for 35 years, but have learned an enormous amount from your docs. Something that I find quite interesting: Plant's onstage banter rarely includes Page. It's as if Page is the manager, the boss. There are no nudge nudge, wink wink references to his off-stage activities. Plant's love for Bonham is pretty clear though.

Jose, your intro to this video is ingenious! Very creative and FUN. I’ve got the Meco CD and I highly recommend getting it - I also recommend looking up the James Last Orchestra version of the Star Wars/Meco classic theme. Big Jim Sullivan can be seen here as well. Y’know, when I got this boot during the mid eighties and heard the Kashmir mishap (that bloody part AGAIN, as the band themselves put it,) I can remember the group being on course except Jones. He continued on the descending Mellotron riff while everyone else was headed for the bridge - the A section thus throwing everything in the air and in total confusion. I remember picking up on this immediately while everyone else who was listening, didn’t. Hey, the song is repetitive and hypnotic and even the members themselves weren’t exempt for mishandling it from time to time. Excellent video Jose and many thanks for it!

The one and only L.B! Hey man glad you enjoyed this one. I need to check out James Last Orchestra, wow, Big Jim plays that????? What? The Kashmir mistake yeah, poor Jonesy he tried to get back into the song lol. The part that confuses bands is the second descending bit right into the A Major section, been there...trust me, i've seen a keyboard player look at the rest of the band like UH OH! Thanks for watching! Epiosde 3 and series finale premieres July 13th!

@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories yes my friend…I watch ALL of your content. As one of the famous composers once said: a wrong note? Ok. To play without feel? NEVER! I tend to give Jones a pass here. The song is long and repetitive…and played some five-six nights a wk. Oh, about Big Jim Sull.
He evidently joined up with JLO sometime in 1977 it seems - from what I see in the videos. He replaced Peter Hesslein (Lucifer’s Friend guitarist) and stayed on a good 8 years I think. James always got the best musicians. Terry Jenkins (Welch drummer,) Derek Watkins (lead trumpet,) Barry Roy Reeves (drummer who was married to Madeleine Bell…yes, the lady who’s record Jones produced in late ‘73.) I’ve made mention of this orchestra before to you and got no response. I recommend looking into to his Starparade videos as they are HIGHLY enjoyable.

I am really appreciating the effort into these reviews Mr JCM!! This whole series you've done has so reignited my love for Led Zeppelin.
June 25th, Page was actually insanely good!! Since I've been loving you was so epic!! He really explored the many different versions over the years and then threw in some incredibly surprising and inventive developments....His tone was so good...... I LOVE Sick Again, it was one of my fav songs to play in our Zeppelin cover band, we used to do a '77-esc version..1977 versions of No Quarter were always good and such a shpw piece, but this night, there was something extra, Page was so fluid, so refreshing when so many '77 shows were a disaster for him......He NAILED Achillies last stand!! Communication Breakdown was a visit back to 1970!! I really enjoyed that......How and why was this particular night such a good guitar sound for Page, it was all there!! So many '77 shows typically feature a very "low drive, dry and sterile" sound, but not on the 25th!! However tha solo he does featuring the Evintide harmonizer, meh, gimmiky, I never liked it, but on this night, he actually added some more texture by dialling in some invenitve delays on the Echoplex, I thought that was quite cool.....
Bonham, was absolutely unstoppable on this tour, and really cemeted his status as the BEST EVER rock drummer, there is NOBODY who even comes close to him.....I can't even put it into words.....and flying under the radar with more musical intelligence than anyone I can think of, JPJ just glues it all together...
Plant is Plant, I like his '77 voice, its got nice texture and he used it well!! That show was great!!

    @PlatinumBlack90038 Před měsícem +1

For the longest time, I always associated Pagey’s theremin playing (both live and on record) as an Aleister Crowley-like *Sex Magick Ritual.*
Jimmy’s solo spotlight performance during this particular concert (The L.A. Forum, Inglewood, California on 23 June 1977) playing his bowed 1959 Cherry Sunburst Gibson Les Paul Standard - in tandem with the Vox V847-A wah, the Echoplex analogue tape delay effect unit, the Eventide H949 Harmonizer for pitch shifting and phaser effects, and the Sonic Wave solid-state theremin, epitomises aurally what I would call the perfect sonic seduction ritual - and perhaps the act itself - at least in my dirty mind anyway. LOL!
When it comes to sex, I’ve always felt that Led Zeppelin’s music is way too distracting... Of course that would all completely change when I met my wife (and fellow Zepphead), Cindy. ‘Whole Lotta Love’ (the song that made me get SERIOUS about my guitar playing) is our song - chosen by her!
On my first day of kindergarten, after arriving a little early, I witnessed a dramatic life-changing event (the girl I most had a crush on throughout my school years) was literally, being dragged - kicking and screaming - by her mother through the hallway to the kindergarten classroom that September morning. Her high-pitched shriek echoed & reverberated down the corridors - and immediately caught my ear. Then the sight of her was equally dramatic - she was breathtakingly beautiful - the most gorgeous girl. Utterly unforgettable! This girl would go on to become - THE most popular girl in the entire school - and the whole neighbourhood. She was always the best dressed, on-trend, stylish, polite, well-mannered, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera...
The funny thing is, I did not obsess over her the whole time I was at school, probably because I got to see her every day. Only when looking back did I ‘freak out’ so to speak.
Then, EVERYTHING would change for me two decades later when I met my wife, Cindy - she is the ULTIMATE - in every way! 💓💘💞💝💗

Also Pink Floyd’s demise was speeding up. Roger Waters was staying at a separate hotel with his second wife Carolyn and his baby son Harry and would travel to gigs either by a separate limousine or a helicopter. David Gilmour stayed at another hotel with his wife and infant daughter plus Nick Mason, Richard Wright, Snowy White, Dick Parry and manager Steve O’Rourke were at the same hotel as the others and they usually traveled to the gigs in two separate limousines and the only time Roger was with the others was when they traveled together on Algie (the band’s 707 they had for the tour which had the pig on the fuselage) and on stage. If I could time travel I would go to Madison Square Garden and see Zeppelin’s concerts and the Pink Floyd gigs, would go to Boston Garden as the band played a phenomenal performance with all of Animals in the first set albeit in a different sequence to the album. All of Wish You Were Here in the second half with David, Richard, Snowy and Dick changing the solo deliveries and Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts 6-9 clocking in at 22 minutes. The encores of Money and Us and Them capped off a wonderful show. Footage of the tour is being leaked out now shot on 8 MM and synchronized with the recordings. If Roger Waters had filmed the 1975 and 1977 gigs it would’ve been the best live Pink Floyd album ever made.
David regrets not recording the 1975 and 1977 shows (not counting Empire Pool Wembley Arena 1974 which was released in 2011 on the expanded Dark Side and Wish You Were Here sets with new mixes supervised by Gilmour himself with his engineer Andy Jackson) but made it a mission to record every tour since 1984 (all of his solo tours have either concert films or live albums or both) and we got Delicate Sound of Thunder in 1988 and PULSE in 1995 and as far as PULSE goes, it’s my favorite live album and the performances were from the whole of the European leg of The Division Bell Tour (hence why they differed from the video).
Roger filmed The Wall shows but has cold feet about releasing it (a live album of the 1980-81 Wall shows was released in 2000 over Roger’s objections). Plus he didn’t film The Pros and Cons nor KAOS and declined to release The Dark Side of the Moon tour film of 2006-07-08 and This is Not a Drill had a film for cinema but a standalone release is not coming.
