Yun raqam karta hai ik raavi-e-maghmoom-o-hazeen
Aik dulha liye jata tha baraat apni kaheen
Wahab-e-Kalbi tha laqab tha wo ghulam-e-Shah-e-Deen (S.A.W.W.)
Door se aayi nazar us ko jo maqtal ki zameen
Dil pe Shabbir ke giriya ka asar hone laga
Dekh kar ganj-e-shaheedan ki taraf ronay laga
Aik zameendar khara tha ye kiya us se kalam
Kis ki ye faoj hai aur kis ke ye laashay hain tamaam
Ye jo zakhmi hai khara laakhon mein kya is ka hai naam?
Ro ke woh shakhs pukara keh hai ronay ka maqaam
Hain ye jallad jo khainchay huay shamsheerain hain
Aur Zehra (S.A.) ke muraqqay ki yeh tasveerain hain
Yeh jo zakhmi hai khara khata hua naiza-o-teer
Hai Sakhi Ibn-e-Sakhi (A.S.) aur Ameer Ibn-e-Ameer (A.S.)
Hai yahi teen shab-o-roz ka pyasa Shabbir (A.S.)
Ab talak subah se loota gaya baagh-e-Zehra (S.A.)
Ab ye be-rehm bujhatay hain charaagh-e-Zehra (S.A.)
Yun to aik zulm se aik zulm hua Sha’h pe siwa
Teen sadmon mein magar sabr ka yara na raha
Ik jawaan is ka bhatija tha Hassan (A.S.) ka beta
Shab ko woh dulha bana subah shaheedon mein mila
Us k marne ki khabar Sha’h ne jo pohnchai thi
Maa dulhan ko liye sar nangay nikal aayi thi
Dusra hadsa aik bhai bashakl-e-Safdar
Jab se woh mar gaya seedhi nahin hoti hai qamar
Ab bhi rota hai usay haaye baraadar keh kar
Be-kafan laash wo us ki hai parhi darya par
Abhi wo laash ajab dard se tharraai thi
Bachi ik haaye chacha keh ke jo chillayi thi
Teesra haadsa mein kya kahoon phatt’ta hai jigar
Ik jawaan beta tha atthara baras ka Akbar
Barchiyon se abhi mara gaya wo haaye pisar
Haif hai dafan hui raat ko jis ki maadar
Gham-e-Akbar mein usay kya kahoon kyun kar dekha
Sab ne maidan mein Zainab ko khulay sar dekha
Udhar to shimr ke dil mein ghubaar ki hadd thi

TRANSLATION - Banaam-e-Hussain (A.S.):
This is how a sad and grieved narrator narrates
A groom was taking his marriage procession somewhere
He was known as "Wahab-e-Kalbi" and was the servant of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W.) (by heart)
He caught sight of the place of execution (martyrdom) from a distance
(His) heart began to get influenced by the laments of Shabbir (Imam Hussain)
(He) started to weep upon looking at the burial place of martyrs
He engaged in a conversation with a landowner standing (nearby)
(He asked) Whose army is this? And whose are all these dead bodies?
Who is the one injured; standing in the midst of hundreds of thousands (of enemies)?
That person (landowner) replied, while crying, that this is the moment to weep over
The ones drawing their swords are the (hard-hearted) executioners
And these (Ahl-e-Bayt/martyrs) are the offsprings (children) of Fatima Zahra (S.A.)
The one being injured with dagger and arrows
… Is Generous, the son of Generous; Commander, the son of Commander
He is Shabbir (Imam Hussain), (who is) thirsty since three days and nights
Till now, since morning, the garden of Zahra was being looted
Now these merciless (vultures) are after blowing off the light of Zahra (Imam Hussain)
Although several miseries were inflicted over and above Imam, one after the other
Three calamities, however, affected the strength of (Imam's) patience
There was this young nephew of him; the son of Imam Hasan
Last night he got married; the next morning he joined the martyrs
As Imam conveyed the message of his death
Bride's mother, along with the bride, come out (of the tent) bare-headed
The second calamity was of brother (Abbas) who had resemblance with Safdar (Imam Ali)
Since he (Abbas) died, (Imam) couldn't straighten his back (due to grief and sorrow)
(He) still weeps calling him, "Oh brother"
His shroud-less dead body is lying at the river
That dead body just trembled in a strange anguish
As a child (Sakina) yelled "Oh Chacha"
The third calamity is unexplainable
There was a young 18-years old son (of Imam), Akbar
That son just got martyred with lances … Alas!
Alas! Whose mother was buried that night
How to say that how (I) saw him in the grief of Akbar
Everyone saw Zainab bare-headed in the battlefield
On one hand, Shimr's (L.A.) heart was filled with the ill-feeling/animosity
On the other hand, Hussain's (A.S.) patience and perseverance had touched its climax
Shimr (L.A.) said I have authority in my hand(s)
Hussain (A.S.) said I have God's blessings upon me
Shimr (L.A.) said I am the sea of strength
Hussain (A.S.) said I am the Master (king) of fate
Shimr (L.A.) said I am the rising might/power
Hussain (A.S.) said I am the son of God's Lion
Shimr (L.A.) said I would not part with my violence/cruelty
Hussain (A.S.) said I would not leave the path of loyalty/devotion
Shimr (L.A.) said I would stop the water supply
Hussain (A.S.) said I would even stay patient on this
Shimr (L.A.) said I'm the tyrannous ruler
Hussain (A.S.) said I am Syed (Aal-e-Rasool (S.A.W.W.) (and) I observe patience
Shimr (L.A.) said you will be inflicted with serious oppression/torture
Hussain (A.S.) said ALLAH shall bestow His mercy (upon me)
Shimr (L.A.) said there are lances and javelins on our side
Hussain (A.S.) said we are willing to offer our heads here (for justice/righteousness)
Shimr (L.A.) said even the shrouds would not be made available
Hussain (A.S.) said the dress shall come from Jannah (paradise)
