It does work on onsite ref and point extraction. Doesn't requires the mule. The game looks for the position of the dwarves and the same tactic applies there as well. The game thinks the cave is only that small where the driller made the tunnel and explosion. Just needs a bit of time to calculate the furthest point from the dwarves still. (just waited half a minute after Mission Control annoumced the incomimg Drop Pod) Anyways it's easier in point extraction because the wait time for the pod. There isn't much time on On site refining after pushing the button, only the time when the cargo rocket flies back. So get a fast sealing tactic by drilling the first few meters vertically to seal the hole by placing a few platforms.
I played around a bit with this mechanic with a friend and we discovered that as long as everyone is completely enclosed in the hole with Molly, the drop pod will land on it. If there is someone outside of the hole, the drop pod won’t always fall in the hole. It also only needs to be big enough to fit Molly and the dwarfs. The drop pod will clear a big enough for itself before falling. Wether you want to get out of the way or not is up to you since the drop pod doesn’t do any damage when it lands.
Did it once without clearing more space for us to stand, somehow I clipped through terrain and ended up outside, stupidly far away from the pod by walking, so don't do this if there's an open cave underneath you
I actually learned this after an especially grueling elite deep dive in Magma Core. It was the last stage as an escort mission and we had even drilled the way in advance to clear the way for molly and we had been in the deep dive for more than a hour and a half already of now stop negative modifiers and fire damage. It was a special moment for me because this level 600 just tells us to trust him, drills in, C4s, asks the engi to seal after getting everyone in and "boom" there it is, we can finally rest after such a difficult and long mission. I was a lvl100 at the time and thought I was kind of a greybeard myself already, and suddenly I get hit in the face with what a true whitebeard is. Magical DRG gaming moment.
Dude I love the community for this game. We all mostly understand that the spirit of the game is great, and ruining the experience with exploits will just dilute the game

I really hope this game doesn’t go too mainstream. I just got into it recently and I don’t want streamers to ruin the game by complaining about things they think would be better. I haven’t played a game in a long time where I can sit and sink hours into it just because it’s fun and enjoyable
It works better if you drill straight down because the drop pod doesnt damage you when it falls, it just might make you stuck and have to dig out. Rock and Stone anyway though!
You dont even need a driller, you can do it solo as well. You just need to dig a hole big enough for you and molly to fit in and then block all entrances, and the drop pod is forced to land on molly otherwise she wouldnt be able to get there and the mission would be 'impossible' to complete
Dude i discovered this 3 days ago thx to a kind driller that explained ti me the whole plan bc we were all dying and with no ammo to make it of we were going into the suspecting landing site soo He kindly used this strat while covering the entrance and that was the best driller i had been with
Also you can kind of control the Droppod by literally just digging a really really long tunnel in a straight line as far away as possible from any available area and then blowing it up because not only does the mule have to get there physically it also has to be able to get there within the time limit so if it can't get to the nearest open area in 5 minutes it'll just go to the closest available zone be careful though because sometimes it doesn't work and molly just glitches through the wall and proceeded to walk in a straight line through hundreds of feet of solid rock to get straight to the pod
@bluedistortions witnessed it with my own eyes on salvage with all the mini mules in areas I could get before even breaking into the room with the drop pod and activated the button on solo. Right through the damn dirt
You can also send the scout back to the room where the pod was hojbg tonland and it forces the pod to spawn at the endnof the cave where the other three dwarves and molly are.
Me and my friend did this by accident and haven’t used it since. Mainly because we have been leveling each of our characters evenly so we aren’t always playing those two but also because we haven’t been desperate enough and like you said it goes against the the spirit of drg. We aren’t conniving knife ears. We’re headed dwarves… ROCK AND STONE
If you make a very long tunnel the drop pod can land in a place where the mule won't make it takes like a hour of digging the drop pod opens at the last 10 seconds
i did this once, i dug myself a grave with the matrix core thingy, and dug out a VERY tiny bunker. the drop pod was called and all i saw was green, also molly was not in the hole with me, but the room was completely sealed
i always used this as a time saver. big caves or vertical ones it was great. too bad they patched it but its understandable cause youre basically taking the "thrill" out of the extraction.
Just dig a hole with the engineer and cover it up while inside and the drop pod doesn't need space or if playing with others use the driller to dig the hole and stay inside with the mule and the engineer covers it up from up top
I was doing an escort duty mission with friends on discord (who are new) and I truly thought that the drop pod always dropped in the first room where you start… I was terribly surprised when the pod showed up on the hearts tone while we were in the first room…
You didn’t need the c4 but it’s always satisfying to use all I ever needed was a tunnel going around 5 meters, then to plug it up and you were good to call it Problem was some dwarves would stay directly underneath and get crushed as the pod landed re-enacting the Willem Dafoe Vincent Van Gogh meme I never warned the green beards it was funny watching them panic but I would always dig them out Very fun exploit because my little dwarven legs hated walking :) Rock and stone
there’s a better method where you mine straight down with driller, and create a sideways bunker. It’s easier for engi to close off the hole and leaves no room for Molly to phase through anything!

RIP best exploit. Wish theyd change the way we execute extraction. Why cant we use the same tech on supply pods. Once we complete the objectives, molly will deploy a transmitter, immobilizing molly and we have to stand our ground till the pod arrives.
I don't think this is cheating because it needs teamwork to be pulled out to begin whit also driller can just make a tunnel all the way already to skip the entire cabe in to the droppod

As long as you dig down or to the side enough and Molly has enough room to sit comfortably then the drop pod will land there. I got screwed over twice in the same day from MOLLY just going straight verticals to the start of the mission I was extremely deep and was ent even able to get close to the start point on both haven’t been screwed since lucky Edit: Recently I thried this and instead Molly just faded though a wall. Do not recommend trying again.

Damn i remember doing this once and literally a few days ago it got patched without my knowledge i wanted to show it to my friends lol suddenly theres a dreadnought and we are in a hole uh oh luckily im driller i just drill and c4 an area
@@aronth They've already said that writing a code like that would be incredibly difficult, and might punish normal players if it triggers accidentally.

If you spam jump in the middle of the crater, you can sometimes glitch inside the seat area and skip the 30 seconds of waiting

The devs wouldn’t cave that easily, their main flaw is that they are too cautious about changes (in my opinion)

Its a bit easier to fill the hole if the hole is straight down instead of sideways
A fellow dwarf driller showed me this a couple weeks ago and I was incredibly impressed.
This is kinda cool, but you need a driller anyway so you could just go trough the wall straight to the drop pod and it would not take much longer

Hmm pro tip they won't patch. Call pod from the midpoint. It garuntees the shortest average trip. You just can't spend too long getting there

It did work if you placed mule in the weak stone areas that connect caves then sealed it off
I was able to do it with just engineer and a small hole in the wall, you don't need a large hole. Just make sure the platforms don't have any holes
New idea: get a mod that gives unlimited ammo, play as engineer, proceed to fill in everything with platforms, call for drop pod.

Bunkers are like the most broken tactic in the game
They should make a code to detect if a bunker is made and increase the chance of spawning a bulk detonator in it.
