- May just passed saw the inaugural Uprising Tokyo, an all-new Pro/ Am skate event held at the Ariake Arena in the Japanese capital and hosted by Yuto Horigome. The street course, by California Skateparks, featured replicas of both LA’s Hollywood High 12-stair handrail and San Francisco’s Clipper ledge and so it really favoured the fearless and headstrong.
We mic’d up 2017 Thrasher Skater Of The Year Jamie Foy for a first-person view of his experience navigating press conferences, contest strategy, avoiding ‘racehorse push’ and witnessing the onslaught of a Best Trick contest for the ages!

I'm so thankful for videos like this that show literally how human people are in the skate industry on top of little things that people may not know about like Jamie's manager being there almost like a caddy in golf helping him choose out of his bag of tricks what could help him win really cool really appreciates the video!
The documenting the behind the scenes skater culture and talk was dope. Loved seeing how much fun and friendship is involved. Most sports don't have this kind of bond but skateboarding does. This needs a reality show in itself. The SLS Road Trip.

This comp was actually INSANE and i can't believe the progression of skating. It's so fun to watch these incredibly talented individuals find creative ways to interact with the world around them.

this has pumped me to go skate more than any contest i've watched. You rarely if never see this kind of comradery in any other sport apart from extreme sports. Fucking love it. The switch hardflip after setting up the spare decks gave me goosebumps. Was epic..... for the boooooys. I'm off for a skate.
