    It would be an absolute dream come true to get to fly one of these baby's in my lifetime.. Screw all other airplanes, the MD is an absolute beauty and looks like it handles just as beautifully as she looks!! She looks like a swan when she comes in for a final..

      I've flown on her and, believe me, it was fun!! She climbs very steeply right after take off. Same thing with the DC-9.

    The switch on the left of the yolk is the pitch trim, it's on the right of the copilot's yolk. This appears to be an MD-90 (but looking at what's shown it's the same as an MD-88). The MD-80, or as American Airlines called them the Super 80 (essentially a DC-9-80) had conventional instruments and no Flight Management System (FMS). Delta flew the MD-88, same jet as the MD-80 but an early stage glass cockpit with an FMS. The MD-90 features newer engines, glass cockpit, FMS, a taller tailfin and other refinements. At Delta, the pilot flying at critical phases of flight doesn't actuate switches- the Captain turned off the landing lights right after liftoff; there's plenty of time to do that at 1000'AGL. Otherwise nice job by the crew and the videographer.

    Neat and cool video! I love seeing the inside of cockpits during takeoffs. What airport and country was this and what was the destination of the flight?

    why is the captain pressing that square kind of a thing on the control column?

    • @HEDGE1011
      @HEDGE1011 Před 6 lety

      shivendra maliah That's stabilizer trim. Done for ease of flying and adjusted for speed to make controls light and easy to manipulate.

    no reverser?

    • @HEDGE1011
      @HEDGE1011 Před 6 lety +3

      Calvin Cai He used reverse. You can see them being stowed after landing. They are very quiet in the cockpit of the MD-90.

  • @albula642

    Nope, it means that the trim moves very fast, called "stabilizer motion"
