@@andrewsutherland133 I get the hard on you guys have for Obama, but can we not be ridiculous here? Iraq become a spawn point for terrorism as soon as Saddam's regime was toppled. This entire problem did not exist before that period, Obama inherits the problem. One of his campaign promises is a exit out the business. He gets elected, and like a humble new president refrains from doing anything drastic in Iraq at the advice of military advisors with more experience. But ultimately he works toward this campaign promise, and fufills it. How else was he supposed to handle it? I mean really. Cutting Bush's entire era out of the picture is historical revisionism and kind of insane.

To address two points, it doesn't matter if Obama was fulfilling his campaign promise, the point was it was a mistake because objectively the US leaving Iraq Leda vacuum for isis to take over.
Also it seems you're the one with a hard on for Obama to make a statement like that. Obama didn't humbly refrain from taking drastic action, he did so because during his last year in office, Bush made an agreement with the iraqi government to keep troops in until 2011 to specifically keep Obama from taking drastic action, and as soon as that expired, he left immediately.
They are literally the same. Bush seemed like they toppled a murderous dictator regime, but he really turned the country to chaotic unrest that was way worse.
Likewise, Obama seemed like he got us out of a war we never should have been in, but what happened was he allowed the country to literally be taken over by terrorists and he had to go back.
Even if you like Obama (and believe it or not, I actually do) there is no way to make his handling of Iraq good. He allowed isis to spring up, had to put us back in a war he criticized for a decade and did shit to stop them
I'm really glad he intervened and saved us from those dangerous weapons of mass destruction, there was a lot of them, right? Also the transition to democracy has so far been very successful...

Kyle, Actually Obama had nothing to do with US forces leaving. I am sure he advocated them leaving, However Bush already signed a command that ordered the US troops to withdraw by the end of 2011.
