Her mom was really, really hard on him. I am glad she finally got to see the man he really is and how much he loved her daughter.
I guess the mom's reaction is due to the fact that Jiang Zheng Han did not break his promise to her that his circumstances will be better because he really loves Xia Lin Xi. Otherwise, she will continue to be hard on him.
My husband's mother didnt like me when we first got together. She was as bad as as this girl's mother (might've been worse actually), so bad that my husband said to his mother not to make him choose between her and I, because she'd lose. She did and he left. That was when we told her we were having a baby. Before our first child was born, my husband didn't speak to his mother for seven months. Doesn't sound like a long time but, it was usually just the two of them and they were close. Then one day she called him to see if he'd changed his mind or something (I couldn't hear what was said and he's still never told me) and he hung up the phone on her. She rang back and he explained that our baby was going to be here in less than a month and if she wanted to be a part of his life, our lives she would have to get over herself otherwise he (my husband) would carry on without her in his life, and that she would always be his mother, but it would never be as it was before.
I was stunned when I heard him talk like this. Honestly, it scared me to think he would cut his mother out like that, I didn't think I could ever do it. He told me, he "will not choose to be unhappy for anyone! I choose otherwise, and F@$% the rest!" After awhile I thought if he's this sure about this, right here, right now, and he's not scared? Then surely, things will work out for us.
We've been together 23 yrs now. Have four kids and one gorgeous granddaughter. And his mother did get over herself.
Moral of the story; choose happiness. Life is too short to be living up to other people's expectations. Do you.
