We built this van aiming to create a homely space with the area we had. We didn't want to compromise on functionality or comfort. The last thing you want to do after a big day hiking is to have to make your bed every night with foam cushions, so we built a proper sprung mattress bed for comfort but also it's much cooler.
We also wanted a decent kitchen so we built it out the back with maximum storage.
The van is equipped with 260W Solar panels linked to a Goal Zero Yeti 1400. It has 25L of filtered freshwater storage and an almost silent 55l Dometic fridge/freezer. For our vent we chose the MaxxFan Deluxe as it's the most functional and quietest fan on the market.
My partner and I just bought a '95 Hiace and your video has been a great source of inspiration. Especially your water system with built-in filtration!
I'm glad it has been helpful. We're currently waiting on a Mercedes which we'll film the build of.
@@WanderingandWilderness Awesome! We're seeing more Mercedes Sprinter campers here in Oregon and they look like fun! I look forward to seeing what you come up with :)
One of my favourite van builds! Really well designed for the van size! Sweet job!
Thank you! This was our first build and the focus was on maximum functionality and practicality.
We've since built another we u fortunately didn't film but this September we are getting our new Sprinter as a home and building it so subscribe as we'll be filming the whole build!
Whe it says'ultimate'it doesn't lie, good job mate
congrats on a practical build suited to oz conditions.
Very very informative well handled the explanation part, so simple and easy to understand.
Brilliant - a lot of thought went into this conversion. We have the same van and we're feeling our way. I wish I'd seen your vid first.
You can follow our new van and find out some more tips at facebook.com/wanderingandwilderness
This video has helped me with my van build so much! Thank you
Super
Some cool ideas here, I like your low profile solar. Looking at getting a van for myself and my pups to do some travelling :)
Perfect, just love the whole set up and you guys are great and a cute couple.
Hi guys so nice, awesome set up, just love it. Makes me feel I should have been there with you guys for one great trip. But unfortunately I am back in India but I am a great lover of Van life culture. Superb take care you guys

I love your enthusiasm
I Love HiACE ....♥
Mint van mate, nice job!
great work
Awesome I so love the design. #unique
Great job and simple design
Effective ! 👍
Love it guys! Good work.
Nice Van! Great job.
Hey mate, amazing build! I'm using a lot of inspiration from your build for my own van. I was just wondering where you got/ what the hose and end fitting is for your drinking water outlet.
Hi guys love this build and definitely some inspo for our hiace build. What kind of pump did you use for your water system and where did you pick up the hand trigger for it?
It's just a standard 12v ShurFlo pump. ShurFlo is a good brand. The hand trigger is actually just a tap bung. Same as your have on an urn or 10l jug.
We are about to build a new van which will have some insane ideas so follow us and check out wanderingandwilderness.com
Great van built, however can you access the drawers from the inside for when it poors rain???
Very curious of your electrical wiring. Is all connected to your goal zero? 😊
just wondering whether this is a long week base? :)
This is the long wheelbase hiace, not the SLWB. :)
Hi guys that's great do you have build plan for your kitchen unit please?
Sorry we don't have an illustrated plans. You can find some advice on wanderingandwilderness.com
How do you please cook when it is raining?
The back door acts as an effective roof so you don't get wet.
just wondering where you got the hose from
Online at caravansplus
Basically it's just a food grade hose, anything with fresh water should be.
The hose reel is a Holman's 10m hose reel from Bunnings, the 10m doesn't have a changeable hose so I cut it myself and fit it out.
which wheelbase is this?
Just a standard SWB
want to sell it?
how did you connect your water system and make it possible to use garden hose to refill your water tank? I've pulled apart my previous van build and am looking at doing something like what you have done in my new build. If you want and if you have the time you can inbox me on Instagram? @zeke.snow
Do u want to sell it ? Plz let me know
Already sold it. And just sold our Mercedes Sprinter build too.
@@WanderingandWilderness can u help to build a camper can like urs plz
@@lipa8848 where are you based? This was a rather high budget build for a HiAce and van of this size mostly because of the lithium setup
@@WanderingandWildernessI’m in Sydney
@@lipa8848 oh we're Melbourne. Check out website for some tips: www.wanderingandwilderness.com
Not sure what the bloke is selling, but, "I'm not interested"...
So you watched the video and made the effort to comment just to say "not interested?"
You're a smart one.
