  • Hello my friends, and welcome to the channel for another Escape From Tarkov video, this time with some commentary on why Lighthouse spawns suck, and my idea for changing it!

    I think the biggest grievance I have is not only just the spawns being so close but its that you're almost guaranteed to get a duo or trio right by. God willing you survive that, you'll be dealing with the player scav horde as pouring through the hills

    The problem with the east side expansion is, the area that you showed already exists but on Shoreline. Southern Road extract leads to the Tunnel extract. Path to Shoreline and Path to Lighthouse already share the same map geometry and you can see the areas, but you can't go there. I think maybe instead of chalets, malls etc, whatever you advised, let's just reuse that part of Shoreline.
    So, you would have the tunnel plus the side round around the tunnel. Then the village with the road going towards the swamp village (part of it only), and then reaching the village on Lighthouse. There should be a path through the mountains though in the middle as well.
    Short version, can't add new stuff there as stuff already exists. Just reuse the stuff that exists there already and implement this new U shaped spawn layout.
    Also, add a boat extract to Lighthouse. Not going to do any quests for LK without an extract on the island.

      Just combine the maps tbh. Isn't the long term goal to have a giant open world anyway? Lighthouse/Shoreline seems like the best place to start.

      @@kittycatpilot could be, but this would imply Nikita knows what he is doing plus if the current engine can handle it. The amount of AI that would have to active at once, plus Lighthouse being an unoptimized mess, would make this new map not the heaven that you think it would be.

    Finally someone who shows improvements rather than just saying "BSG Fix Spawns". Great video. Completely agree about the expansion to the East. Customs is completely different since the expansions. There doesn't even need to be much about. Just couple scatters buildings and some hilly land. The loot can still pool into the middle and having PMC start from the edge and work in is pretty much how Customs and streets perform.

      @@zachhall3299 lol the entire recoil change came from community. Endless flee market and trader changes based off player feedback. I'm not one to like the devs ass but from the changes in tarkov and arena recently. I have to give them credit for listening to the community.

      Hey buddy, we aren’t the developers. We aren’t the ones whose jobs it is to fix the spawns. It’s not that bsg can’t do it, it’s that they very clearly don’t want to.

    Honestly the idea of moving the mountains back I find an amazing idea. But what if there was underground tunnels leading to a missle silo kinda area (where a nuke/emp bunker could be for lore) and have a different spot for rogues/raiders/scav bosses to hide out, or it could he a goon hideout where they hold all their equipment they find from other maps or where "goon followers" can be

    Honestly just staring at the map of the spawns is giving me an insane amount of anxiety and frustration even as a level 48 who's done almost all of the lighthouse quests at this point.

      fr if i get any south end spawns that arent near the cottage i just throw my shit in the water and disconnect. 74 AWOL raids just trying to unlock lightkeeper so far and im not even done keys to the castle yet

      @@EpicNinjas100 If car extract isn't there, you can go up to the mountains to get to shoreline. You won't meet that much player scavs. They usually don't go there.

    Two things to further add to expansion there is a small factory like area in northeast corner of the map by the train yard that's inaccessible it would be an easy area to open up and maybe move one of the spawns up there. The second thing could be that the tunnel could open up to a "secret" underground compound that would also improve the pmc traffic by the co-op extraction and maybe also give access to the basements to the buildings to your purposed eastern expansion.

    Lighthouse definitely needs looking at for sure. While I like the idea of expanding out to the east don't forget that in the bigger picture, Shoreline bolts right onto the east which might give you some geographical challenges with putting a strip mall on there. I would like to see the area retconned to make an expansion happen though.
    In the short term as a bandaid fix, BSG could just reduce the number of PMC spawns starting with the two horrendous ones right in the south.

    I'd like the map to be expanded North, that way half of the PMCs can spawn north of the water treatment in a new area, and the other half can spawn south in the already established part (minus the Southern Road extract). They could share a common extract at the Path To Shoreline extract, or maybe add an extract on the beach between the cottages.

    Shoreline also has a similar issue with spawns. I often either die or kill someone within the first 5 seconds of a raid. Makes me feel paranoid playing that map and I hate it. I kinda just end up sitting in a bush for 5 min and wait for everyone to move. Really great video and now I'm even more scared to learn lighthouse lmao.

      There is 1 spawn where if you do just that your almost garunteed to pick off both other spawns in the first 5 mins . The one where you spawn near green tower on the way to road to customs, just post up at the top of the hill in or near those bushes and it works like a charm.

      @@Defended_Pie the reason that it works so well is that both spawns are really close, and I noticed that if you get the middle spawn, both other spawns try to come to your area and pick you or the other players off, but if you have the patience and are still as a mouse you can watch them both pass you by and let them go or just shoot them. I find it the best option because even if it's a big group and you can't kill them, you can find out which direction they are going and just go the opposite. Just remember, once you kill the one spawn don't immediately get out to loot because 2-3 mins the other will come to investigate. And your immediate thought should be finding that hiding spot when you do spawn because they come quick

    For me the most obvious place to expand the map would be in the north/north-east (currently the car extraction).
    It would move the water treatment park more towards the middle of the map overall and reduce the number of players spawning in the south.
    The biggest issue in that case would be that players spawning in the north would probably take ages to get to the lightkeeper and run into most of the other PMCs.

    Wouldn't be a Tarkov map without spawn issues. However, those fixes of yours look like very good improvements.

    I think when expanding lighthouse you need to think about the maps larger geographic location in relation to shoreline. Your proposed expansion could literally just be adding the western village portion of shoreline to the eastern part of lighthouse.

    Problem is with where you want the map expanded thats literally just the west side of "Shoreline" if I'm not wrong. I do wish something could be done about the spawn issues though.

      Would be hella cool to see BSG fuse the two maps together, but i doubt that'll happen

      I was going to comment this. Yes, the "Path to Lighthouse" and "Path to Shoreline" extracts are literally the same location in the game, and the Southern Road spawn is exactly through the collapsed "Tunnel" extract on shoreline. They are back-to-back without any room in there.

    The East expansion you planning is already modeled into a small sunken village on shoreline, the path to shoreline extract is directly connect to shoreline and vice versa so they could in a simple manner already implement the change

    I think this is the same issue why I don't really go to Lighthouse only if really needed. I'm not interested in the Water Treatment loot at all but it is still a nightmare to dodge everyone who is going that way or camping my spawn. As such I mostly pray for the south spawn because I can give time to all the campers ot get bored and leave to the north.

    The southern road spawn, I've had this same spawn 8 times in a row. Which makes sense, because all my objectives are at the complete opposite end, and I keep getting killed the minute I get over the stupid hill.

    In the mountains you sometimes spawn with a view of the back of the other PMC's head (across the little mountain lake). I always sprint immediately when spawning lighthouse...

    I agree with Especially with Customs on the Bridge spawns where the Cross points are why would there be a person on the other side of the bridge when you spawn next to it only screws you over when doing quests especially the beginning ones.

    I just experienced a literal 10 second raid. I spawned in the valley next to mountain pass extract. I had just enough time turn around and realise where I am and then I got headeyed by silenced 7.62x51. Literally a 10 second raid where I moved maybe 10m from where I spawned. Fucking fantastic. Well done BSG.

    Expand the map to the east when Shoreline is located behind the mountain? One could consider incorporating a long bunker facility into the mountain as an additional route from north to south.

    "I skip everything and head for the compound" This is exactly why I loot everything else instead, I can slink around cover hitting stashes which are rarely hit and give me consistently good loot if I hit a few at once. Along with all the great industrial loot around the villages. I also completely ignore the chalet.

      @@jeevil42 Because if you don't spawn there the best loot will a) be gone by the time you DO get there, or b) it'll be swarming with aggressive player scavs 5 minutes into the raid. I do however make an exception for the tennis court and heli area if I spawn there.

    Like everyone said a million times, adding lightkeeper killed this map.
    Before light keeper you still had problems with engagements off spawn, but if you spawned south you could fight the other guys who spawned south and the winner could loot the lighthouse. Generally the people who spawned closer to rogue camp went there and the people who spawned south went lighthouse so you weren't having to cross the whole map to get somewhere good and you weren't crossing thru the multiple sniper gauntlets

    I completely Agree.... the map has just three lanes and they are so close to each other that it feels like there is only 2. A map Widening is needed and would bring some very much needed extra routes to move across the map on.

    South road spawn is actually a very good spawn for doing pmc kill mission because you can spawn there kill someone and extract from the there as well(south road exit is open from both sides) the view is very good on that spawn, you can see player on the Beach spawn and can kill player on top of the mountain in the middle of the map, also you can have eyes on the usec resort as well.
    The worst spawn for me is the Beach spawn and the spawn under the mountain, you get snipe or push by both side right after the spawn and you almost have no where to escape.

    I've been trying to work around this exact issue by trying to farm Zriracha and ran into everybody elses dream. 80% of my spawns have been, the second farthest to the north. All I'm doing is running south and dying most of the time before I even get to the road to the island. Ironicaly the safest way is straight through the middle in the ditches and ponds next to the road. I would prefer if the expand the map, that BSG also shorten it a bit.

    Any thoughts on expanding North instead? That way spawns can be evenly spread out. Make the map somewhat symmetrical with water treatment in the center of the map, and just slightly expand the eastside so people don't get chocked completely by water treatment plant. Keep all extracts available for PMCs as is.

    The spawn problem exists on every map. If you're unlucky, you'll get a PvP battle right away. At customs we killed a duo in Big Red after less than a minute because the spawns were so close. Nice experience for her. I think they need to reduce the number of PMCs on the map and increase the number of Scavs at the start of the round. This allows the maps to unfold and you also get the gaming experience that you never know where someone is. So at the start of the round you immediately know where something can spawn, if there's nothing there, then there, etc. You rush the spawns to reduce the number of players. Plus, there's nothing frustrating when you have so many PMC's on the map that you can't even get your kills in peace, because you can constantly get caught up in fights. In addition, after a relatively short time, the player scavs appear and can ruin the round. So reduce the number of PMCs so that the spawns are further apart, increase the number of Scavs and possibly nerf the loot a bit. In the end, you don't need a map expansion just so that players meet less.

    I would like to argue that almost every map has a spawn issue. In Hunt Showdown the map is ringed with spawns, in much the same way as Tarkov, however the map is broken up into compounds and the spawns have very very specific groupings of trees, rocks etc top break up the spawns in such a way where the fight actually occures at the compound and its a fight not a slaughter.
    On the flip side I just had a raid on interchange where my friend goes "this is the spawn the killed us." Runs ahead and then kills the guy that spawned in the same spawn we did last time. Sick...

    If your spawn southern road, just loot quickly and exit raid. Spawns are bad, but the amount of players is worse, if you play alone, is harder to survive the initial raid, since not been on group means more enemy player, which also could be in teams (which since it concetrate the amount of players, means more loot and less encounter chances)

    I hate that this is an issue in not just lighthouse but several maps. Customs has a death bridge where a player can just luckily get a closer to camp the other at big red. Shoreline has several still where you spawn either at the destroyed tunnel and people can get to your spawn in about than thirty seconds (happened to me). Then near the weather station it’s a huge expanse where three different spawns can kill each other so quickly it can make the map a ghost town. I don’t have to explain reserve, the bunkers are really bad and the fact some players can get a spawn inside the underground before anyone is so confusing. Interchange is uh, yeah that one is probably the worst since you spawn literally down the road and have to scope first or you’re dead.

    I would love an expansion like you describe, also would love some addition to woods, too much empty space there -.-

    lighthouse has a spawn problem? Shoreline is even worse and streets for some reason cant do it as well. HOW TF the biggest urban map in FPS history, cant put players into opposite sides of the map

    honestly I really like spawning southern road. every time I get it I celebrate. got some easy quick nearby loot that's not that half-bad and a free extract that's NEVER camped. in dozens and dozens of spawns there I've never died. every other spawn? it's like 90% death rate, lol. southern road is literally the most drama free spawn. so far from anything most people want to go to, they don't bother with it and don't use it for extracting, so I also go there whenever I have dumb quests like "stay alive for 5 minutes dehydrated" (f you jaeger).

    The problem with Lighthouse is the water treatment plant. Just remove it from the map, make it its own thing, like a Labs-lite, and redistribute the loot among the south half of the map instead.

    South road is way better than beach. At least i have the mountain to work with. Pushing through thr mountain ain't bad at all.
    Beach spawn is the shit one that always get camped by north ridge spawn, USEC spawn, and South road spawn.

    Shoreline also has hideous spawns tbh. Spawned in, ran up a hill, looked left, and sent two dudes back to the lobby in less than 2 minutes

    I feel like the next map to get a rework, now that they fixed shoreline (mostley) should %100 be lighthouse. It despeartley needs an expansion and or points of interest that have enough loot spread over a wide enough area to keep players milling about in the south more.

    I hate lighthouse. In my opinion it is the least fun map and has way to many quests in relation to other maps. If I spawn in the south I move immediately to the southern road landslide extract, loot everything on my way and get out. In the middle I just hope not to die to a squad or a sniper within the first 3 minutes until everybody has spread out on the map. Last wipe I've played as a Bear for the first time and I will never do that again. It makes the map is even worse...

    How weird, literally had this question lastnight as I ran my 30th ever lighthouse run in 6 wipes. Literally just started playing this map this wipe and had my shortest death ever lol. Spawned in the most north spawn or maybe the one behind and as I turned around twice trying to get my bearings (being that there are mines up there) I got head tapped. 2 ft from spawning in and no more then 5 to 10 seconds lol..

    My best way to solve the spawns currently is to carry the lapua magnum with thermal, it works for me 7/10 times

    I spawned into lighthouse, and got one tapped by a PMC within not even kidding 5 seconds into raid.

    I don't really know if I hate these spawns or like 'em...
    One day I have just mood to go into a raid and just have a gunfight that's outside right when I spawn in, but other times I'd give anything to just get that one quest done after like 10 tries.
    If BSG won't do some sort of expansion on Lighthouse? Then please at least get rid of the quests that require ALL pmcs to aim for the same objective.
    I.e. "KILL SCAVS ALONG THE ROAD", "KILL CERTAIN AMOUNT OF ROGUES", "KILL SCAVS IN CHALET AREA", "KILL PMCS IN LIGHTHOUSE AREA".
    All of these are such simple quests that are made incredibly frustrating because of the spawns and how the map plays out.
    I had to do 5 raids on Lighthouse before I got a single scav kill towards the "Long Road" quest.
    3 times (in a row) I spawned at the southern extract, before you get to the place where scavs roam around the road, they are either all dead or you gonna get camped.
    One time I spawned next to the Rogues, so I had to push south through 3 PMC groups that were rushing the mountain spot east of Rogues.
    Last time I spawned near the "seaside vacation" houses IN NIGHT, ran towards the "Merin car", killed a PMC that spawned close on the shore, made 10 steps towards the road, got killed by a rogue with the mounted granade launcher even though it was pitch black and I was nowhere near any light or quite frankly in a spot where I could be seen since everywhere a round me were trees.
    Doing quests on Lighthouse is just not fun no way you put it.
    The expansion on Customs made it into my most favorite map of 'em all, I just love this concept of a long map intead of "big square" like Interchange or Reserve.
    But having the map frankly devided into 3 main paths.
    West "dorm" path.
    Middle "main road" path.
    East "construction" path.
    You can freely cross between these paths, stick to just one, flank around with ease, all paths are viable.

    I dont think making the map wider would fix anything. I get that it would give more space but wouldnt adding more map to the north make it better? Maybe squish the map, so southern road isnt a thing, widen and lengthen it to the north. Then everyone spawns around the rogue camp and has to fight towards the middle. Whenever i get a bad spawn on lighthouse, i simply turn it into a loot run and exit red rebel. Stashes can be OP. Then hope i get a better spawn next raid.
    But ultimately, id like to see water treatment in the dead center of the map with players spawning around it and having to fight towards the center, giving every player an equal opportunity to get at least 1 rogue kill per raid. But maybe that just isnt possible.

    I hate lighthouse when i HAVE to kill rogues, good spawns mean, you either camp your back, or move quickly in, both can be bad if the ones spawning on the same line as you either push sides or push in quickly so you have to check sides.
    And as you said, south? dream on doing anything with the rogues if there is just one other guy that have a better spawn than you that needs/wants to go in water treatment plant. Even then, if the other PMC's just want to snipe you but you do manage to get past, then the scavplayers have arrived and they go to water treatment 99% of the time. Scav players really need to be just the last 15-20 min, not when players start to die, let players who manage to survive loot up a bit before scavs come in. Played streets where i spawn in and move 5m from spawn and kill a scav player, they spawn in the SAME time on that map, got scav players at like 35 min. Some maps you are so stressed when doing quests.

    Spawns should be the next focused fix. They are BAD on almost all the maps. I stopped running straight for quests or task items off the spawn and am sporting a 63% S/R currently. Most wipes I'm around a 45-50% and that's when I'm immediately sprinting to things. Makes sense that 50% of the time, the solo, duo or trio see's me first and drops me.

    Your idea of expanding the map east conflicts with lore, and that would mean the expansion would just be a small section of map ranging from landmines to tunnel on shoreline. Not to say the devs cant change this or whatever but its just how it is now. My opinion is that theres too many pmcs on basically every map. Most raids I just want to fight rogues and or do a task while not needing to worry about other sweat lords trying to get their grimey hands on the rogues I killed. Im not as you say a casual player but spawning and waiting for 5 minutes to ensure I have the best chance of survival is pretty lame.

    I just spawned into a lighthouse raid ready to do my tasks and lived for 36 seconds. The map is insanley broken

    I feel this is very much not just a lighthouse issue but a BSG issue. They can easily fix this. Reduce the amount of spawn points. Reduce PMC spawns. Just spawn people closer to the loot, someone already has a massive advantage in the current spawn set up so may as well just fucking accept it being unfair (Already is unfair) would be better than having a shitty load of spawns on top of each other. Stop Player scavs spawning in before 20 mins. Stop having focused spots where 90% of all the good loot is that everyone goes to (Interchange is the same). Streets is the best map because it has good loot spread about in some way (Could be alot better as lexos side has a bit too much of the good loot). Bad task choice for maps doesn't help they've made the flow north because of the tasks as well. As if you do have any task south its ai scav killing that rarely spawn. Then you add on SBIH so you end up with campers with bolties.

    im hoping for Gray Zone to be the 2024 fps thing cause im tired of EFT dont get me wrong i think its the best fps shooter game when it comes to realisum but honestly as casual as i am and dont want to sacrificie time and effort on build ups like 10 min equipment , 5 min on queq times and than being smoked in seconds i allways get anxieaty so than i just play scavs run to relax

    Wouldn’t be so bad if the raids didn’t take 6 minutes to load half the time (waiting for players), they really need to improve the queue speed, it’s honestly unacceptable at this point in development time

    they need to reduce pmcs on ALL of the maps, this problem is so freq especially on interchange and reserve. everyone should have their own section of the map and they meet in the middle for pvp. not look over to your right and instantly die

    Pscav spawns on Lighthouse are also a joke. Like im on my PMC and i just spawn and literally a minute or two later its either another PMC or Pscavs, mega frustrating

    This is all well and good. The only problem we have now is anytime a low hanging fruit solution is identified and agreed upon by the majority of the community, BSG will ignore us and tell us we're wrong for the next 5 years.

    I really don't like light house, good loot good looking map. But I either see no one or have a spawn fight. Punisher part 4 is killing me.

      Oh forgot to mention. No armor. Only headset and scav vest+baclava. Whole kit is like 60k if you don't count the sj6. I just do the sj6 to not get sniped when i cross the road.

    Lighthouse plays like old old customs. Too linear. If it was wider, I think it would be a bit better in terms of gameplay. Im level 34 and Im at the point where I basically live inside water treatment which is aggravating as a bear. I have to mark like 9 tankers, kill the rogues, loot 2 of the 3 buildings they sit in, then get thru the other 12 pmcs tryna do the same tasks. Its awful.
