Pretty happy with my progress, hit a lot of tough strats and no huge meltdowns!
This game is really fun, going to try to grind for the sub 20, might stream it soon.

Is val the best character for speedruns? I thought maybe yanyan or doctor would be

Sorry for the late reply, but currently Baby seems like the strongest option for most speedrun categories in this game. Val's stats are pretty good though, and he does have some key strengths that put him ahead of baby in some aspects! The actual values for the character stats are hidden and are not always aligned with what the in game stat visualization would have you believe (you can find the full list of true stats in the SMB banana era speedrunning discord). Val has the 2nd strongest spin dash behind Easel and doesn't have the increased charge time that Easel does, which does open up some Val specific strategies. Overall it does appear that Baby will likely outclass Val for this category, but Im planning to push Val's strats a little further since the game is still new and strats are still developing. I just enjoy Val's style of control better and I figured I might as well experiment with him for now.
