I started making bracelets ages ago and I didnât know how to make 2 colored loops. Thank you for this tutorial!
Man, now all my bracelets are going to have a double color loop.

Could you show us how to keep your bracelet string untangled while you are working on a bracelet with a lot of strings? I have had a lot of trouble with this
I don't lol, it always tangles. I just untangle it as I go along. Some people use macrame boards though and say that helps
Rhea Patney same
this is a bit odd, but with the string i use it usually is quite curly, so i straighten my string with a flat iron before i start my bracelet sometimes. this keeps the strings relatively untangled and when they do tangle, they are fairly easy to undo, no tight knots or anything. hope this helped!
Rhea Patney untangle as you go, utilize your shoulders (toss some over your shoulder if theyâre always ridiculously long like mine), work on a nice flat surface, untangle as you go, and separate sections youâre not using. It also may help to know that almost all knots made at the end of the string accidentally while working on the bracelet can be untangled by loosening whatever has bunched up and gently pulling out one string at a time. And last tip, high quality string (DMC) tangles less! I made the mistake of getting prism string at WalMart in a 120 pack and it was tangle central! I was making the fishbone chevron and I just gave up and made a keychain because I could not deal đ€Šđ»ââïž
Same as everyone else... Untangle as you go... the knotted-looking bunches of string come apart pretty easily.
BUT I definitely agree with @Pearl of a Girl Nursery, High quality threads, like DMC, don't seem to tangle or 'pill' as much. Example; I recently bought a thread storage box at Michael's which came filled with pre-rolled bobbins of blue colored embroidery floss. I also bought several pull-skeins of DMC floss. The comparison while working is like night and day. The unspecified material used in the boxed bobbins from Michael's is tangly and forms 'pills', which catch on each other, causing knots. While the 100% cotton (long-staple) used in the DMC has a nice sheen, stays smooth and untangled quite easily.
For tangles, I usually grab the knotted-looking group of threads at the bracelet end, and slide it thru my thumb and fingertips then by the time I reach the end, it's pretty much untangled. Often, I don't even bother 'untangling' the threads for several knots, if working with the same thread segment. Then, pinch the group of threads and slide thru my fingers. IDK, it works for me. Luck!I
when you get 3 minutes into the video and realize you havnt actually been listening then have to start over

AHHH you made this video awhile ago but i just started doing friendship bracelets. iâm so grateful youâve made this video, when everyone else did the loop video i was so confused but since i learned how to do a chaveron (hopefully i spelled that right) i knew you would have something helpful. aaaa thank you so much, youâre so good at explaining everything unlike a lot of youtubers.
knot every pattern works for loops. get it?
OMG I JUST GOT A HEART FROM MASHA ! THX!
But to answer yes !
Lol
Omg this is the most likes i have ever gotten before, thx!
I already know how to make loops, I just really enjoy watching these videos!
Aw, that's so sweet!
Been doing friendship bracelets for years but after finding ur videos my bracelet making has peaked and becoms way more complex and prettier. Thank youu
I can't ever go without trying something I see that might impact the bracelets I make in the future! Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Iv e always just tied it with the loop not tied or anything. It looks alright, but this one does look better, I might have to try it
Same!
I always thought teardrop loops were so much harder! Now imma look cool at school!! âCant waitâ to make everyone bracelets. (Everyone likes me to make them bracelets and ive never seen this one girl where them even once and I spent DAYS on that bracelet.
This is so easy to understand and so helpful!! Thank you!
How do we use the loops to connect onto the bracelet when youâre actually done?
Make two ties at the end of the bracelet. When you are going to put it on, put one tie through the loop. Then tie the two together and youâre done!
Brilliant tutorials Masha âŁïž you've got me at my table and knotting away đ thanks much đ
Love the second loop. â€â€
omg I love your vids and ive been wanting to learn this for a while
Your nails are so pretty!!!
These look so much better than the normal loops
Thank you for your detailed video
After many trys my loops are coming out properly.
I never knew their were different ways to start bracelets just made a loop using your tutorial to start a knitted chevron.
This channel is so helpful! You are so inspiring! How old were you when you started making bracelets? Thank you
You are soooooo good at making bracelets
I love her nails!!!!!
Wow I didnât even think of two colored loops awesome
I only recently found this technique too and had the same thought :D
Sorry, but not quite right. You could have an even number of strings, but if theyâre not split evenly across the middle, no good.
For example, abba would work for a loop, but aabb would not. Abcddcba would work, abccddba would not.
Good point actually, I realised that I forgot to mention that about a week after I posted this. But with most patterns, even if they're not split at the beginning, you can find a point where they are. So say its abccddba on row 1, it could become abcddcba on like row 12 once all the threads have moved. You could just start the pattern from there. But yeah, good point nonetheless, I wish I had included that
@@MashaKnots oh! Another good point, that you can just manipulate order during loop-making and triangles (if you go there).
At any rate... LOVE your work. Thinking hard about patreon ....
aabb would also work, you can fold colour a in the middle and pull colour b through the loop. Then pull it as far as it needs that b also is fold in the middle. There are now two loops, and each loop goes through the other loop. The colour you make the loop with has to make a knot on the place where a and b meet.
I hope you can understand that đ
@@jms8639 If I understand correctly, that would not work for aabbccdd, which was what I meant. Aabb was just shorthand.
Yes, this option also doesn't work for everything, but you could do both a in the d and the b in the c. You can even put more than one string in such a loop.
It works for all bracelets which have an even number of strings of each colour.
Maybe another example to explain:
Hold your hand in a horizontal line, then move your thumbs down so you see a U-shape lying on the side at each of your hands.
Then move your right hand around 90°, so it's positioned like it would be if you were shaking hands. Move your hands together so that the parts between thumb and pointer finger meet each other.
Look just at your thumbs an pointer fingers and imagine the ones of each hand would be a string.
That is the position that I mean and the meeting point would have to be the middle of the loop of the bracelet.
That is the way you can sort it different, you would only need an even number of each colour and you can make almost every combination.
aabbccdd: 2Ăa>d, 2Ăb>c
aabbcc: 2Ăa>c, b folded normally
And you can put "more right hands in the left hand", so you put more U-loops in another (aa>b), but I wouldn't recommend that, because your bracelet-loop would be thicker on one side.
Maybe now it's better to understand?
what do you do if your bracelet isnt symmetrical?
quick question...@mashaknots
do u tape it in a bend or just wear you want the bracelet to start?
Thank you! This helped me alot đđđž

Me too @Jennifer Huynh !!! I found her channel and it is now my main source of imspiration to make friendship bracelets! đ I recently started making them and they're so fun to make thanks to Masha â€ïž
If the bracelet doesn't have an even no. Of strings... What do I do? There is a particular loop for them? Or I just leave it as it is? BTW love ur vidsss. â€ïž

I love this chanel
hi..i have been watching these bracelets as to how they were made and i got inspired to start one today..i started making the loop, since i didnt measure it well, the first thread got shorter..i guess i'll have to watch the video twice or thrice before getting into it..
Muchas gracias por tu generosidad đ.
Lovely video! đ„° you can indeed make a loop if you happen to have one single string that wouldnât fold in half (if that makes sense shfka). You can do a larkshead knot over all the threads with the single thread, one side of it being shorter than the other. Then you can just do your knots over it along with the other threads until you feel itâs secure, then very carefully cut the tail off!
Interesting! Won't the tail stick out though?
Masha Knots thatâs why I put the tail in with the other threads! I normally knot for most of the loop, then snip the rest of the tail off carefully (similar to how you would cut the strings for the back of alphas, if that makes sense?), then I finish the length of the loop, just so that in case the snipped thread pokes out, I can cover it up. Hopefully this makes sense to you! Iâm very bad at explaining things haha
What do you do if you want to use multiple colours for the loop, please? (more than two) PS. Thank you for all your tutorials, they are fantastic!
May I ask which type of strings do you use for making this wonderful bracelets?
I am relearning how to make friendship bracelets after I found my old stash of strings, but is there a way to make a basic loop onto a bracelet that is already finished with a regular loop knot at the top/starting point? Thank you for making videos on friendship bracelets, these videos helped tremendously!
Thanks this is so helpful
I'm not sure if this has been asked but about how long would you say you typically make the loop? It looks to be around a cm to a cm and a half? I'm having trouble keeping up with where the middle of my strings are when I unfold it to mark the spot where I start the loop.
when I finish the loop and start the actual bracelet, will the distance between the ends of the loop affect my design?
Thanks for the tutorial
thanks I am trying to make the arrowhead and needed to make a loop.
I can create this loop on braclets that they have three / seven wires?
i used to do only fowards but this way is actually better. thanks
I loved the first pattern
Sođhelpđfulđ
Thank youuu
I was debating doing thos based on brute force and I definitely could have
You could use just one color on one side but you'd have to 'hide' the end of that color inside the loop, add it to your bunch of strings at a point that you know is going to be covered by the loop. I've done it a few times before, it can be a bit tricky but it can be done :)
Interesting! I would watch a video on that :)
@@MashaKnots I think it's included in the large post on loop beginnings on friendship bracelets.net if you wanna check it out
I will, thanks!
Masha how do u start the bracelet after doing the loop?
you should do another bracelet collection!!
And can I use a string that is not part of the pattern?? Like an extra string or scrap that I have? Thx :)
I am kind of confused with what you do with the string or strings for the loop
If I'm understanding your question, the string(s) that are used for the loop are still part of the bracelet pattern. They are just cut about a foot longer than the rest of the strands. That then takes into account the amount needed to make the loop :) Hope that helps!
Could you do a video about what to do when your string snaps like how to keep going because thatâs a thing that tends to happen to me
I have one called fixing mistakes, where I show you how to insert string and also in beach knotting 2 a string snaps and you can watch me fix it in real time
That used to often happen to me as well. What helped me was to be more gentle when making a bracelet, or simply investing in a higher quality thread. Cheaper threads break more easily.
What kind of bracelets work with the loop? I just want know what bracelets this loop would work with.
Iâve been making these kind of bracelets since I was a kid. Iâve been looking for new patterns and I love your videos! Just wondering if anyone can recommend where I could find more patterns?
braceletbook or friendship-bracelets . net
Heyyy love ya đđ
I have a question can you have the loop and still do a Chevron bracelet or is it not possible
I have done loops with asymmetrical patterns before, defiantly more frustrating. But totally do-able
I usually struggle with keeping each side even if I eyeball where to start, so I just start in the middle and do one side then flip it and do the other!
where do you find your patterns that are very interesting and i would love to make them
Ella braceletbook.com
waiiiiiiiittttttttttttt this is the ssame s knitttttting
And do I have to measure it because I canât measure
Thx yes
does this loop work for the chevron bracelet?
Yes
When you make your knots do you make them tight or a bit looser?
For loops I usually do them looser than usual, but that's just me
Does the first loop also work with friendship thread?
Dear Masha There is a really cool pattern by Rhios bracelets itâs a unicorn friendship bracelet,itâs an alpha pattern.but I donât know if itâs forward or backward knots, could you look at the pattern and let me know please?Thank you.đ
Off topic question, but have you ever tried making a "bracelet" with lots of threads? I was thinking something around 10 cm wide? Do you think it would work?
Thickest I've done is 40 strings (czcams.com/video/0lqHCKamXN0/video.html) but I know that people do make thicker ones. They make bags, phone cases, pencil cases, etc. It's pretty fun! I might try it someday, but not right now
Aye, how do you connect the two sides.
a forward or backward knot:)
Is there a way to make loops at the beginning of a bracelet without folding the strings in half? I donât like folding my strings in half, idk why but I donât lol
Hi I have ordered a kit from craft to cash. Can you please help me make faithful heart bracelet
Also, have you thought about making a Patreon in the future?
Could you use the same technique to possibly make a triple color loop? Quadruple... etc... Or would that not work?
I have the same question.
wait can you do more than just two colours for a loop?
can you make a loop after the bracelet is finished ?
no. you canât
Haley McShane you can only do the loop before you start the bracelet.
Haley McShane at the end of the bracelet you make two ties. they tie around the loop once you put it on your arm
Where can you find the first pattern? What the code or numbers for the bracelet book
my strings separate... like I have a pink string rn and its in like 7 different strands i have to go up to the top to drag my fingers through it
Does this type of loop work with alpha patterns? Someone plz help
same!! ugh idk, but iâm guessing it probably does itâs just the start to a bracelet and youâre still tying knots so i imagine it does work... maybe check out the bracelet book forum just in case?
how do you do a double colored loop with two colors but each color section is more than one knot?
Thx
Does it work for a chevron?
I usually just fold and knot it why have I never seen this itâs like the only one of your videos I havenât seen đ€ŠđŒââïž
hi, quick question i do hope you reply because itâs important. after you do the loop, do you do the triangle thingy you were talking about or do you knot it? i have experimented on my own with knotting it but i would like to learn how to not have a knot. also, do you have a tutorial on how to read those patterns?
I have a tutorial on both triangle ends & reading patterns :)
Masha Knots thank you. i just wanted to make sure that you can do the triangle ends without a alpha pattern
i make some of your bracelets because they are really cute.
Cool
Where do you order your strings
@masha_knots how would you begin a pattern that calls for an odd number of threads? Especially a wide one? I'm looking at a pattern with 33 threads and I'm not sure how to start. I've successfully done many bracelets, but I've only recently become aware of the loops, as you make them, as well as the teardrop and triangle ends. Thanks!
Sometimes I'll make a loop but just in your case I would cut 17 strings (making 34 when i make the loop) and then just cut the extra off after the loop. You cant even tell that a string was cut in the end
What Maya said and also I usually just do triangle ends for those, but the triangle is sort of lopsided lol
Thank you Masha and Maya! That's exactly what I was thinking, but wasn't sure if that would be right. Glad to know my own solution would work. @Masha_knots I only just realized it was the same pattern you said you made for your Grandmother in the US recently. So I'll hold off until you make the promised tutorial and practice with other bracelets. :D
First!!
I started the bracelet on the wring side if the loop
how would i make the first loop at the beginning if i didnât want to fold my strings in half
Abbey Klimuntowski you have to to make a loop, thatâs what a loop is.
So how long do the strings need to be??
Finally a vid that makes sense
how much longer does the string with the loops have to be. 1 color and 2 color
I think someone in another video or even this one said about a foot longer than the rest of the strings. If you are doing a 2 color loop than both colors you were making the loops would need to be a foot longer.
Can I do a loop for a candy stripe bracelet?đ
