Years ago, sooner fans used to say, 'God Bless Mrs. Selmon'. I've been saying for two years, 'God Bless Mom and Dad Alo'. Time to add Patty Gasso to that. We'll never be able to thank the Gassos for what they've given to the University, this State, and this sport.
Whatever Jocelyn says or does in the dugout to her own teammates is between her and them. She wasn't gesturing to UCLA. It was a message to her own teammates that happened to be on camera. It's not out of malice - she is a top-shelf competitor and was firing her team up. She doesn't need to apologize to anybody for anything. And it may very well be that she was saying something else... "five-pitch count" "five more innings to go" Who knows? And it doesn't really matter because it wasn't directed at the opposition.
Hope's description of Grace Lyons was amazing. It literally brought tears to my eyes. These Sooner women are so special...on AND off the field. BOOMER !
Patty is such an amazing head coach! She has accomplished it all! Who are your top OU coaches of all time regardless of sport? I say 1) Bud Wilkinson - football 3 titles plus 47 game winning streak 2) Mark Williams - Gymnastics 9 titles 3) Patty Gasso - softball 5 titles 4) Barry Switzer - football 3 titles 5) Port Robertson - wrestling 3 titles
From what I've seen she has always been a bad sport. And a bad liar lol. Don't get me wrong, INCREDIBLE athlete. But in four world series several people have seen her have... less than stellar sportsmanship.
@@clammyjones I am pretty sure EVERY elite athlete has bad sportsmanship DURING battle. Once the whistle blows they have a few minutes to digest the results. Then they can return to the great people most of them are.
She did say that in the dugout not like she did not do it to the ucla players and how someone is when focused in on playing I mean Michael Jordan wasn’t the greatest sportsman and Larry bird would trash talk you durning the game as he owned you so does instantly mean they are bad people?
@@clammyjones oh cry me a river…she’s the greatest hitter in softball history…you look at anybody at the top of their game in ANY SPORT and tell me not any of those athletes have said something similar in a competitive or confident manner…that wasn’t her being a “bad sport”….she’s an athlete who’s fiery and passionate about her sport…you’re picking at her by calling her a bad sport for her competitive attitude. get a grip.
Lot of people getting riled up over what a player said to her team mates in the dug out. Get over it. Was she taunting the opposing team on the field? Nope. She was in her dugout. Jeez.
This team is going to be really interesting next season. No Jana Johns, No Taylon Snow, No Lynssie Elam, No Hope Trautwein, and the rumor that Nicole May going on the transfer wire because of lack of playing time. No matter how you look at it there are big shoes to replace. Alyssa Brito may play third so I assume maybe Hannah Coor plays LF...don't know. However, there will also be how Patty recruits. But it will be an interesting team. Thank God Grace Lyons will be returning.
It really will be! My guess: Lyons at SS, Grace Green at 1st, Tia at 2nd, Brito at 3, then they outfield of Boone, Jayda, and Coor. If May goes to the portal it would be a shame, she honestly picks it up in the postseason but, you have Jordy, Kiersten Deal coming in, Maci McAdoo, Emmy Guthrie, and SJ Guerin also coming in. Knowing Patty she’s got her eye on a few both pitchers and other postitons!
@@ethan.shoemake I’d like to see Green and Hansen get back to being the players they’re capable of being,McAdoo can’t find the strike zone and, sadly, will probably be a forever cheerleader. @@SydneyGreenstreet1227 For sure on Hansen and Green, I mean they’re former All-Americans and sir the bench! That’s how crazy talented this team is! On McAdoo, I think you have to get her some innings early in season where she can just throw without needing to feel any pressure. I’ve seen her throw before, when she’s in control her stuff is nasty, and she throws extremely hard. But again I don’t know if we’re going to see her get many innings due to Jordy, Deal, Guerin, Guthrie, and hopefully May if she stays. I do want to mention though, if Patty wants to get a pitcher out of the portal, I really hope it’s Alex Storako from Michigan! She’s great and is like another Jordy with her fire and energy!

@@austingress82 I always have too. If you want to hear about softball, she’s the best. I watched all the postgame interviews from every team in this series and she consistently minimized and dismissed every opponent. “Every player can hit at this level. Every player can field at this level. Every pitcher can throw at this level.” Rather than just say something nice about any player not on her roster. She was the only coach I noticed who seemed to go out of her way to not utter another team’s name even. She didn’t even bother to accurately name the city the freaking tournament is in. Just came across as poor sportsmanship to me. I know it’s not THAT big of a deal. Sorry for even mentioning it
what do you ladies think about the 5 tampa bay ray pitchers refusing to wear a "pride" rainbow patch for one game? because "we're christian"... and the ironic reason is "it's a choice"? how do you reconcile your belief and it's backwards ass bigotry and racism?
It's pretty obvious Patty's initial reservations towards the final question were due to the previous post game interview, when the NYT reporter asked the unrelated question about abortion laws in Oklahoma. Notice how Patty says, "now that one I will answer"? She's referring here to the out-of-line question from the previous interview.
