My mom told me back in 1994 when her and my dad were teenagers and this song first came out her and my dad would drive around blasting the song. My dad also loved The Crow. He loved it so much him and my mom went to see it in theaters twice. My dad passed last month and whenever I hear this song I think of him
This song will forever remind me of Sunday morning in the 90's. Cleaning my sport bike in my garage and listening to KROQ. My friends showing up, and taking. a ride down the coast.. I miss the 90's..
Turned 16 in 1990, fell in love with the grunge bands after being into punk in the 80's. Life was hard economically, but the rest of my life was fantastic. It's pretty much the opposite right now. My money can't buy me happiness, but listening to songs like this remind me of better times.
I’m a 84’ grad. We have pretty much the same problem. I’m making more money than most people in my hometown. But it doesn’t matter or help as much as listening to STP. Something money has nothing to do with. 🤘🏽✌🏼😎
I think this song is about how being so clingy in a relationship can make each other lose love (driving farther from what we are). The "time to take her home" is when she says we should take a break from each other for a while. The " time to wait too long" is taking to long of a break from each other that you both lose feelings anyways from being apart for so long. Finally, "conversations kill" is about how one wrong thing said or talking with each other too much or too little can destroy the relationship in some way. I see this song this way because my gf just said we should take a break and my heart literally feels like a Big Empty hole
Hold on loosely by 38 Special should be the remedy for such an interpretation. May you find peace and happiness if you haven’t gotten back together with this girl yet.
I have a different take on the lyrics. "Too much walkin shoes worn thin. Too much trippin and my soul's worn thin. Time to catch a ride it leaves today" This is about the big check-out imo
Powerful lyrics, irresistible hooks, nuanced drumming and guitar work. This song is a Stone Temple Masterpiece. It's as good now as the day it came out and I couldn't stop playing it when I first heard it. It made me feel a certain kinda way that I can't describe, like an overcast day....but happy.
I got to see STP at Portland Meadows Rockfest in 2000 when I was about 15. It was one of my first big concerts..he wore a pink feather boa and seemed to have conjure the spirit of David Bowie and Jim Morrison. The vibe that the crowed had was amazing...there was a sense of everything all in it's right place...and tons of topless women. This song was on The Crow Soundtrack and when I was in 5th grade I'd listen to the tape every morning on my walk to the bus stop. It was one of the first songs to really hit sometime inside of me. RIP man..thanks for shaping the way I look at music.
People tend to forget how great the drums are to this whole band lol. Scott's voice kinda steals the whole show but the rest of them are just as great lol
First heard this one on "The Crow" soundtrack, which is one of the first cassettes I owned as a young teen. From that cassette I became a fan of bands like STP, Alice in Chains and Nirvana. These grunge bands were a bridge to more extreme metal (and hardcore) and these genres changed my life. So bands like STP will always have a place in my heart. RIP Scott.
+D. Norbut Nirvana and alice in chains werent on it. For me it was this song, and Nine inch nails cover of joy divisions "Dead Souls" that were great. and rage's darkness of greed.
Could you be thinking of the soundtrack to Singles? It was from around the same time and honestly it is prolly my all time favorite soundtrack cause it has all the big ones except Nirvana and I think STP on it.. I highly recommend if you don't have it already.... This soundtrack is totally worth it if for nothing else, than this song along, probably my favorite STP song...
" conversations kill "........... that is true! Having a conversation can kill a relationship faster than a lot of other things I can think of. Miss you Scott. I hope you found peace.
Forever one of my favorite bands 💜 my dad loved STP and used to sing a bunch of their songs (he had an amp and microphone and everything) and I never realized it until after he passed, but he sounded just like the lead singer. The more and more I listen to them, the more I realize it. I miss him and wish I could hear him sing STP one last time. I can’t even tell the difference sometimes
We miss you, rock on Scott. Your music will live on, I know these will be the songs my kids will grow up with, ill blast it in the car, the house, sing it everywhere. Thank you
They lack source, so their lyrics suck. Or they are required to pay homage to whatever, ya know? A creative leash for the thought police... or they love their "e.v.i.l." as much as Louise claims to. Here's a question: what do you think STP refers to? Big hint on first album. Mother, should I trust the AI? Take your hits and ask yourself... I got a picture of a photo that might help ya ya ya
This song played in the car when I was 14, after I smoked weed for the first time. My brother came and picked up my best friend and I, because we had wandered to the other end of town, ran into him at the restaurant where he worked, and he was pretty pissed. Now, I understand why. We were stoned, unattended minors, aimlessly walking around downtown after dark. I always remember that night when I hear this song.
Isn’t music the greatest? (Rhetorical question; don’t answer that)... It’s the way it strips your soul down and invokes instant nostalgia. It’s surreal. It’s soul touching. It’s the best.
Just looked up this song for the first time and saw all these RIP.. Thinking he may of died a couple years ago but it was half a day ago. Wish I would've found this band sooner. RIP
This song by StP is by far one of their best in my opinion and not a lot of people know what movie this song is in... And tbh... The movie its in.. Is by far the best movie I've seen... Even with a brilliant actor who died so young... RIP Brandon Lee 1965 - 1993 sorely missed, but never forgotten
***** K, I have no clue wtf you just said cuz it made absolutely no sense. But really, it's a CZcams video...it's not that serious. Maybe someone forgot to take their meds.
My daughter was an infant when this song came out , I used to put it on and watch her rock back and forth to it that was 26 years ago still a great tune !
The writing ability of the grunge era was soaked in a depressed saccharine, and it definitely won't come back. It was the voice of a lost generation, and that generation is slowly killing itself off.
Hahaha I grew up listening to this song. He repeats the same two or three sentences the whole song. Don't get me wrong I like it but why you say they don't write songs like this anymore? There are many well-written songs from the years past but this is not one of them. Listen to some music pre 1980 if you're wanting to hear some well-written stuff. 80s and 90s were not so much about the lyrics. I guess I'm just trying to give you the old man perspective on it! Lol. AIC has some deep songs, as did Stewart, the stones, ect. Lynyrd skynyrd songs ALL have a story to tell also. 😁👍
Love this song and the band. Remember Scott W. Bought the tape before my senior year of high school. It rock. Miss Scott and the band. Rock the class of 1995 of Tupleo ,MS. Rock on guys.
Tunes like this gave me hope for a resurgence of good, mouth full of teeth, popular music. The nineties ended without any significant progress and it all went back to hell, the hope faded. The last laugh is on the industry that scuttled their own life boat. There's still great music being made but it's not getting on the air. Long live the cottage industry of great music, free at last from the industry that reaped the benefits, screwed the artists and finally throttled itself by their own hands.
Man, it's been 20 years since the Crow just made and this soundtrack was incredible. This song is one of my favorites and very sad that Brandon Lee got tragically killed in the shooting of the Crow. It's too bad I would love to meet him in person until it's too late. To all of our hearts and the Crows everywhere, we won't forget you, man. RIP - BRANDON and bless you in Heaven. GREAT JOB! P.S. HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY, THE CROW! :(
Saw The Crow at the first showing one the first day it played in the local cinema. A sad, sad day.....Love the song, but have not watched the movie since.....If I could travel back in time, Brandon Lee's death would be one of the things I would try to prevent.....
I first heard this song on "The Crow" soundtrack at the movies. I remember I fell in love with the song and shortly there after left the theater driving with this song still in my head. RIP Scott, thanks for the memories
my fav lyric. the whole song really but i know just how he felt when he said "soul worn thin" trippin a lot leaves a certain empty feeling that cant be explained.
That breakdown at the end of the chorus is sooooo fucking heavy. I eargasm every time. The chords on that bit are so dissonant and remind me a lot of Jimmy Page.
This song brings me back to high school. So sad that he's gone now. There was always hope for another stp reunion. Now he's gone from music, and this earth. Every time another legend from my generation passes, my heart breaks a little. All of the good ones are going. RIP Scott, rest easy. You lived a fulfilling life with a long career. You are missed.
+Mandy Sowell good musicians are not a dieing breed, they're just a less popular breed. just harder to sniff em out these days because they don't get big contracts and blown up over a music tv channel (that no longer plays music anyways)
heretic30176 that's true. I know there's good musicians out there that go unrecognized. It's too bad that what gets popular these days doesn't have a whole lot of originality. I would love to see another musical revolution take over. I don't know how that's going to happen, but I hope it does.
For me its those song ive heard it on the radio restaurant etc all my life but one day I was feeling like shit they played it on the radio now im in love with this song

Just heard this song today playing on the radio for the first time. Now it’s my favorite song. I’m 16 by the way. Screw modern music
Hands down, the best Stone Temple Pilots song ever.
This whole CD completely ROCKS

I was thinking the same thing too it reminded me of my very first boyfriend when I was 17 in the year of 1991
GREAT POINT OF VIEW.....

It can't rain all the time!
could listen to this non stop
This is song has one of the best choruses I've ever heard. Just goes to show why the less popular songs are the best!
I call them little treasures
Agreed 💯
This song never gets old. RIP Scott RIP Brandon Lee ❤🥀❤ The garden of the crow
Nostalgia and being high make these songs so much better
Everytime I hear this song I think of the crow and Brandon Lee rest in peace Brandon Lee
You are not the only one Johnathan

STP also had contributed an unreleased early tune called Only Dying, but withdrew it due to Brandons untimely demise. An excellent song..

" T bird cop car cop car"
people tend to forget how good the drums are in this song.
Keke 66 Everything in it is great.
Keke 66 no we don't
People tend to forget how great the drums are to this whole band lol. Scott's voice kinda steals the whole show but the rest of them are just as great lol
He doesn't just keep the rhythm. He drums along to the words. That's almost unheard of amongst drummers to be able to do both so effortlessly.
Base line is under appreciated as well, as they are in most songs

Why cant people put this much passion into their lyrics anymore?
Sean Harris i love stp having grown up listening to them since i was a boy, but i could never understand his lyrics meaning.

What do you mean? I hear his voice inside my head!!!!
Scott Weiland will live forever and his voice will always be heard as long people like us are around.
I know what you mean though. A very bright flame was extinguished when he died. The brightest ones always burn out the quickest, as they say.
Gonna miss this guy! RIP Scott!
What a voice!
Sad.....Big empty inside right now.... RIP Scott....
There's a big empty in my life because Scott is not here anymore.

Sunday July 24th 2022.....Hello Ladies and Gentlemen listening to this Beautiful Song.
This song is awesome.
