The chili peppers said they could not understand how Fishbone, a band that came out from the beginning with incredible rhythm and melody, were not celebrated as much or more than them. The chili peppers were allowed to grow into a band. Fishbone were a BAND from the very start.
People didn't understand it, and I don't understand THAT... They were insane at Lalapaloosa in Orlando. This is one of my very favorite songs. Metal with soul. When I saw them in Naples Florida at a club about 13 years ago, it was a very different, intimate gig. They didn't play Servitude, but they did Swim. This place was two stories tall with a loft and the stage was about a 6" riser, no separation whatsoever from the crowd. They were all crammed up there so Angelo was in the crowd most of the time. He appears in front of me and sticks the mic in my face so I sing along for a few seconds. Then, he locks his hands together and somehow I understand he wants me to launch him up above the crowd so he can surf around, so I did. I bought one of his comics with CD after. I've seen hundreds of shows and sing in bands as well. That was the coolest, most feel good show I've ever been to in my life. Thank you Angelo and Fishbone! I will never forget that.
Yea this band should of been as big as chili pepper just another Unsung rock band :( music industry is just rigged like a casino slot machine :( they are FANTSTIC!!!!'
So great to hear Chris Dowd stepping out from behind the keyboards to sing. His voice adds such a power to the Fishbone sound that has never been achieved with Angelo's carefree vocal style.
Most people never learn. There's been music like this for over a 100 years. And almost nobody get the message. They just think its a good song and don't look at the lyrics
They play in many styles. So much talent in this band that even though they primarily play funk/ska they just nail the metal genre so well people think they are a metal band. This album is incredible, I highly recommend it!
It occurs to me that with bands relying more on live shows rather than CD sales these days, Fishbone would probably have been the biggest band in the world if they were of this generation.
Every track from those days just shows you how incredible a drummer Fish really is. I would love to hear some of the original recordings without the studio processing used on drums during that time.
Seen them a dozen times. In their prime, best live band, hands down. No contest. Fish one played so many styles and killed them all. Could not be forced into a box or label.

Idk but I like the cut of "old school" bands like this. They built as a ska band but weren't afraid to experiment with other genres and they killed it every single time. Kept it fresh. Kept it original. Most bands are kinda pussies now when it comes to variety. They're pressured by their labels and fans to keep a strict regiment on their sound. This was back when music was allowed to be fun, crazy, and free.
that'a why I love bands like fishbone and faith no more, they made music that they liked , fans and records labels cannot put them in a particular genre
this tune alone melts in acid tons of hard rock shit we have been exposed to in the last 30 years... And yet the average metal head who may mistakenly buy a Fishbone album hoping to find something similar, will be doomed to failure, because with Fishbone, each song is a musical genre per se, that's how great they are
Comments. I guess this guitarist got kicked put of fishbone, because of his christian belefs. But I do honor them for giving him a song. This is my favorite. I saw Angelo shunned at an MTV interview with Maynard from tool. Fishbone should have been honored for what they are. This is an epic group. Fishbone is king.
I met Angelo once, class act! I was dumbfounded and lost my tongue. He just crept through the crowd at this music fest, nobody saw him but me. I approached the man and said, "you da man!" And we had a lovely chat. Just a great experience and great man! Plus we share the same b-day which I failed to share with.

Fishbone is red hot FOREVER, baby!!! 930 club 198something I think 3 or 4. Shit I cant remember. but I know I smoked a joint with them between sets. They came out and saw me and asked where to score and I was already steady, eddy. I love these brothers.
That the Red Hot Chili Peppers are millionaires and Fishbone swim in obscurity sickens me to no end. I played in a band that supported Fishbone on the ROMS tour, just watching them soundcheck with Sunless Saturday was a sight to behold. They were completely motionless and playing harder with more intent than most bands would in a typical show. Fishbone along with the Bad Brains should have taken over the world.
One of my favorite bands ever. They never got their due. Those of us who knew, knew. I wish there had been more. But maybe that would have ruined things. Musically, the perfect overlap of in-your-face rock, shake-it-til-ya-break-it funk, and the exact amount of ska to make it effective without pigeonholing them. All done with SOUL. ALWAYS with soul. Yeah, you're right mate. This song in particular could have been a killer in any of the last four decades. And those blokes could play anything.
Fishbone and Bad Brains are the sound of my youth. They continue to be the soundtrack of my life.
Right on 💯💯
Seriously, black rock bands- no one holds a candle to them musically. Living Colour, Fishbone, 24/7 Spyz, Bad Brains, Screaming Headless Torsos....

One of the best goddamn metal songs EVER 🤘🏻
Lollapalooza 1993. These guys were sick as fuck. Angelo is one of the coolest musicians I have ever met. Long live the Bone!
Man Fishbone has no boundaries. I saw them at Lolapalooza 93 in South Florida. Kendall needs to come back
I've seen Fishbone about a dozen times, including Lollapalooza '93. Definitely one the greatest live bands of all time!
Still are!
I wore this cassette tape out. This band should have been as big as the Chilipeppers.

Most underrated band of all time. Fishbone For LIFE!
they have a documentary check it out
This is one of my favorite riffs ever and the lyrics are just amazingly poignant.
Love that nasty guitar riff starting at 3:39. Fishbone was such such a talented and versatile band.
Never tired of listen to this.
What a masterpiece.
Still relevant up today.
Totally
These guys so ahead of their time, it's amazing.
AHEAD OF IT S TIME! 🎤 🎸 🥁
I don't think some here realize how old Fishbone actually is. They've been making music since 1979.

Saw them live camp zoe unfortunately they didnt play this
WOW TALK ABOUT UNDERRATED MUSICIANS.....

WOW! For so long I was looking for someone whose vocals, melody and rhythm was as intricate as that of Alice in Chains and now I have found!
Fun Fact: The band members of Fishbone are friends of AIC. Angelo and Norwood both played in Jerry's first album.
Percebi isso também, levando em conta que conheci essa banda pela homenagem que fizeram ao alice in chains em 2020.
