A fantastic resource, would assist many students in their understanding of wetland ecosystems. Well done all, more please...

Cutting of peat for fuel is labor intensive and drying it to burn time consuming . Ireland was largely deforested during the age of sail so peat heated homes and still does just to a lesser extent . Leitrim can have high amounts of rainfall from 40 inches per annum up to 118 inches. People wear boots very often . Rain on the wind; with the Atlantic prevailing easterly winds pouring buckets . Carbon gases do accumulate beneath these bogs as part of the decomposition of this vegetation.

This was an absolute blizzard of information. Captions for the different plants he identified would be a help for viewers unaccustomed to rapid-fire Irish accents. No mention so far of the filtration functions of bogs, allowing water to be cleaned of pollution or impurities. Very interested in this whole subject. Are there wetland tours or plant identification forays with guides in Leitrim?

Finally he mentioned the water purification.
