@@Nukesnipe They're different levels of terrible, though. While Gabriel Angelfire is bad, it's the only selesnya legend with rampage and the legend with the most rampage. There's no reason to run an inefficient vanilla creature because there's always something better.

Sir Shandler and Torsten may fail a modern vanilla test, but they certainly didn't fail the vanilla test when they were printed.
Literally, the standards for a vanilla creature have been raised TWICE since the time Legends was printed. 5/5 for 6 mana or 4/7 for 6 mana with no drawbacks wasn't terrible back in the day. Pretty much any 5/5 was a bomb at the time if you could get it into play, and with most people playing free for all casual games, dropping bigger cards than anyone else had felt good.

I love this video and Rakdos, but I agree with the legends sentiment. Yes we literally all know that the UNCOMMON legends in the Legends set are bad. Don't forget: they were printed at UNCOMMON. With the Rakdos video, you could have added Boris Devilboon. 4 mana for a single 1/1 token in Rakdos is terrible, but he was printed at a rarity that is worth talking about. It's really interesting how being multicolored and Legendary in LEGENDS was seen an upside that needed to be costed HIGHER than monocolor cards. I'm really not sure why.

I think if you reduced the generic mana cost of all legendary creatures in the Legends set by 3-4 and remastered the card art people would play them in Commander. Shame about that pesky reserve list making even horrible cards untouchable.

BTW why is the votary so bad? I see cards worse than this all the time, I would certainly rather play it than all the other cards on this list. At least it can be an infinite blocker

Kind of strange but in MTG's beginning, the legendary creature from Legends were not so bad because they were big with no drawbacks. But now, they are horrible!

And I know you don't mean aleph-nought mana when you say infinite, you just mean "arbitrarily high". I'm just being a maths nerd, I guess? At least the infinite damage would still leave you with infinite life.)
