    Thanks for posting this review on Bob Marley and the wailers. I saw Bob Marley and the wailers live in London at the Crystal Palace park bowl June 7Th 1980 . I when with my brother Phill and his mate Ian. The lineup was Bob Marley and the wailers. Average white band. Joe Jackson band and the QTips with Paul Young. Tickets were£ 7.50 on the door. me and my brother and Ian were on the left side of the stage at the front. I remember Concorde came over crystal palace park bowl when Bob Marley and the wailers came on stage at the beginning of the Gig. The opening song was Sun is Shining and the last song was Redemption song. 15.000 People turned up to see the wailers. Nice One One love peace ☮️☮️

    @highmedic2351 Před rokem +3

    Such an underrated album! Sun is Shining will always be my favourite song of all time. The songs on this album were recorded at a similar time as Exodus, hence why it’s a sister album. It also set the tone for the album the following year, Survival.
    Edit: I’m talking about his album Kaya.

    Hi Michael. I bought all of those also. I have never had an original, just CDs. I thought the bass was really good, I felt it but the clarity was what I really liked. I had no idea they faded out songs on Legend. It was nice to get these, I have been enjoying them a lot. Steve

    Hallo Michael. I am a huge Bob Marley fan. He died the same week I was born. I agree with you 100%. Catch A Fire is one of my favourite albums of all times. I thought the half-speed master was decent but that wow experience was completely missing. That's why I decided not to buy any of the other half speed masters from the same series. I did however shortly afterwards buy the MOFI edition released in the 90s and it's excellent and a totally different experience. I can also very strongly recommend the very early West German pressings. The West German edition of Exodus that I have is fantastic and easily obtainable. It is so good that I can hardly imagine that the MOFI edition from the 90s is better. I also have an early German pressing of Uprising which is excellent, too. I can however also recommend a newer Bob Marley pressing. It is a 2 disc edition of the Best of Legend album released in 2019 that to my ears sounds very good and deserves to be called audiophile like. But the half speed masters are good nothing more nothing less. Viele Grüße aus Berlin-Wedding Dein Kanal ist super!

    Yes the HM's are not as good as the original's,but to "really better" these you would have to buy Near mint (NM) or Excellent+(Ex+) pressing!
    I'm happy with mine for the price (£22-24) & may well & truly purchase another,if I'm not happy with it I can easily send it back for a FULL REFUND!

      they did this to replicate the original pressing of legend which used a collection of edits and remixes as well as original album cuts.this 1/2 speed master reissue is the closest thing to the original pressing you can get besides of course the original pressing. here is a very informative article on these Bob Marley 1/2 speed remasters from the discogs site, with Miles Showell who cut and remastered these Bob Marley 1/2 speed remasters.

    I now have a good selection of the Abbey Road half-speed masters, and there is a general tendency for the treble to be too pronounced, harsh, and brittle across these masters. Further, many (most?) of them are cut from digital, and you can hear that when the soundstage collapses into two dimensions.

    finding it hard to understand what all the complaints for these half speed abbey road marley reissues are about. i find them lovely with an improved sound stage overall. they certainly do have a digital clarity but compared to the at times muddy originals i find the half speeds an upgrade. also i find the clearer crystalline sound to be more in line with bobs music from 1975 onwards and these admittedly do NOT sound as good as originals on his earlier albums (catch a fire, burnin, etc...). Exodus in particular has a very nice sound with a lovely balance across sonic spectrum.
    hope others will not write these off as they are worhwhile for his later catalogue releases.

    I wondered if they have returned to the original track-listing for "Legend" with these new versions. On the first press of Legend side A finished with "Easy Skankin'" but they removed it presumably because of the "spliff" lyric. One more question that's not music related Michael, being as you live in Germany what's the fastest you have ever travelled on the Autobahn?

    Hi, I have all the original vinyl releases and I much prefer the original releases to the various re-releases from around 1986 onwards. “Legend” when it was originally released did contain edited versions of a lot of the tracks, this is because they used the original 7” mixes as opposed to album versions... “Buffalo Soldier” is a great case in point... the 7” mix has a running time of 2:45 as opposed to the version on “Confrontation” which is 4:16

      Live at Leeds was expanded with extra material, thus the extra discs. None of the Abbey Road Half-Speed have been spread over extra records (like a 45rpm issue of a 33rpm disc). I have not found their releases to be anything special, but it is good that they are getting some titles out into the market.

    Mr. Bob Marley (and the Wailers) always sounded better in my youth and accompanied by a high quality rum on the rocks which followed a special stiff cigarette, after that the sound was always just amazing! A Dual turntable, German (then) made Harman Kardon receiver and Canadian made Mirage speakers, all hooked up with high end lamp cord, ah those were the days. After two of these sessions, memory lane now, my buddies and I walked out of my parents house and went to the University arena about 500 meters away to watch Rush live, 4000 people full capacity. Once with Brian Adams opening, the other time was Loverboy. Canadiana Hey.

The only Rastaman VIbrations LP he ever signed and has been authenticated by industry leader R.Epperson. Original 1976 Canadian press vinyl, with some wear on the front cover, not affecting the beautiful signature that reads " Jah Live - All the best - Bob Marley ". A museum piece of music history. Ironically the Marley vinyl releases in the 80's and early 90's said digitally remastered on the outer sleeve but were 'supposedly' completely analog. The sleeves were printed from the CD artwork. Not sure if that is 100% verified but some of those releases sound really good.

I am open to any music in the genre (live or studio) as long as it does not stray too much into pop music (it does not have to be a Bob Marley album.) You are right, the colors and artwork on the cover of Confrontation are fantastic!

    All the first press Wailers and Bob solo albums on Island are easily available on ebay and discogs and last time i looked (maybe 5 years ago) they could be bought in at least VG+ for not much dunza because they were pressed in great quantities and are in no way rare. They are all analog and probably sound better than any digital version. (The exception is the zippo lighter cover in VG+ to M- but believe me the second pressing of that album sounds great too.)
