- Hey y'all! Welcome to my take on the #100headschallenge ~
I still have a long way to go, but I'm very proud of this sketchbook page. I really want to improve on painting skin tones. It's been one of my goals for a while now. And I figured that this challenge would be a great way to practice. HOWEVER, this has (accidentally) become my own variation of the challenge, since I'm giving myself a lot longer than 10 days to paint 100 portraits. To each their own, I suppose ^^

You are too hard on yourself as an artist . I binge watched your videos last night. Maybe it's something that comes from what others have said, or maybe it's just your own anxiety, but your art work is lovely . Your videos are underrated and the editing quality is always great. I can't wait to see your future videos if you decide to post consistently .

I've never painted a portrait with watercolors because it seems quite challenging. Not sure if it's for me. You did such a good job with the colorful skin tones though, even the ones you "messed up". They look so lively and full of depth!
Hi Nuitetoilee! Thank you for being so kind 😊 Haha I have no idea what I'm doing while painting portraits, I just stumble around until the person looks human-like. Though I guess the 100 heads challenge is a good way to settle on an actual technique. We'll see. . .
Do you think you'd ever try painting a portrait with watercolors? What are your favorite subjects to paint?
@@JuliRoxArt I guess never say never, maybe one day I'll give it a try. I recently stumbled across the Zorn palette, a very limited palette that's most suitable for portraits and that made me curious. Usually I stick to landscapes, flowers, and sometimes animals though.
Oh interesting! I haven't heard of that palette. Maybe it's a sign to dive in 🤭 I find landscapes so much harder than portraits. There's just so much to consider.. composition especially. A floating head just sounds simpler haha. Maybe you'll find it to be relatively easy, who knows. Let me know if you give it a try 😆
@@JuliRoxArt Sure, I will :) I find landscapes more forgiving but it's probably all a matter of practice.
I've heard from other creators about getting kicked out! That seems so f8cked up man. What happened to passive income?? You already did all this work in the past - what if you get sick or tired or whatever? It's really unfair.
Also thanks for sharing! I also didn't know that 100 heads was a TEN day challenge. Who's got time for that.
Thanks Hannah! It was pretty heartbreaking.. I wasn't given any notification, just checked my account one day and saw I wasn't monetized. No warnings leading up to it either. When I messaged an agent about it, I was told that it was because I hadn't posted in 6 months. I definitely felt blindsided, but what can you do, right? 🤷🏽♂️
