  • This head torch didn't come with any instructions, despite having 7 modes of operation!
    Press right hand On button once each time to cycle through Full, Wide and Low Power.
    Press the left hand button once each time to cycle through Red, Flashing Red and Green modes.
    When in a power mode (full, wide or low) press and hold the On button to cycle from 100% brightness down to 10% and back up again. Release the button when your desired power has been achieved.

    This has been the best headlamp I ever bought. Been through rain and hail and years of abuse. I just randomly CZcamsd it to see what other people think. Unreal cause I got it for like $10 from Home Depot in 2014 to use once. 9 years later still works like new. And the three batteries last a loooooong time. I’ve only replaced these maybe six times in nine years so.

    The dimming is not a dumb gimmick. It is very useful to finely adjust brightness levels for specific scenario rather than waste power and/or night vision.

    Brilliant. Thank you so much. I was really puzzled about the lack of instructions. I would never have figured it out for myself.

    Thanks for taking the time to demo how to use this torch. Just purchased and was dumbfounded by the lack of any instructions, nothing on their website either! So ridiculous! Anyway, you answered all my questions on the how to's of this torch. Much appreciated!!! Cheers! Mike

    I've found the adjuster mode very helpful as I could save battery life yet still not restricted to use on only ten percent. For hikers, green light going handy as you would like to save battery life you either could use the red or the green in case you want to read a map. (If you have a map at home try and see the difference) The only thing I miss is the ability to use distance torch in single mood too. I was thinking too that its not exactly 450 lumen, although it was able to light up to 85m and compared to other headlamps it has a much stronger surround light which makes the sense the lamp is weaker. I am happy with the more warm light, its a matter of taste but I've found it much better especially outside in the wood.

      Cheers for the comment. I agree with the light temperature, it's actually very good for video work too to provide a more natural colour when filming. The Green light is a nice feature I have to say.

    ,how to use red and green at same time? (for hunting - blood is more visible with this combination)

    To have the low mode (30 lumens) I have to press the main button 3 times. Isn't it? Or I just push only two times? Thank's.

    • @ChrisHorswill
      @ChrisHorswill  Před rokem +1

      Yes, you would press three times on the right button when looking down at the torch.
      You could also then press and hold that right button to lower the light output even more!

    How long does the battery last? fOR LOW use. Thank you

    • @ChrisHorswill
      @ChrisHorswill  Před 2 měsíci +1

      The Energizer site lists max mode for 2.6 hours.
      I've had seveal hours of of this head torch. You will notice after a few hours the brightness does start to drop off though and it becomes fairly weak soon. Fresh batteries are a must for the maximum lumens for sure.

    Is this better than tge rechargeable and does it last longer

    • @ChrisHorswill
      @ChrisHorswill  Před rokem +1

      This one is good because you can just throw in some readily available AAA batteries when required. It also means you don't have to worry about the internal battery becoming weak over time too. As for run times, this is supposed to last for 2.6 hours on high. There is a rechargeable that runs for 4 hours, but that is only 400 lumens compared to this 450.

    What is the green light function for?

    • @ChrisHorswill
      @ChrisHorswill  Před 8 měsíci +1

      It is for reading in the dark. You can use either the red or the green light modes. "Green light penetrates a little better, and shows more detail. It may be preferred for distance vision, and for close up clarity, such as reading instruments or maps. Green is more commonly used in military situations, where it is claimed to be less detectable by night vision equipment."

    • @ChrisHorswill
      @ChrisHorswill  Před 8 měsíci

      Is red or green better?
      This is somewhat of a matter of opinion. Both are much better than white light. It is generally considered that red breaks down rhodopsin (a light-sensitive protein that activates the rod cells and allows you to see at night) more slowly and, if preserving night vision is the main objective, red is better.
