  • We live in a world with vaccine denial and immunization enthusiasts. Some people believe in climate change and others don't. At the end of the day, we need to trust science because its the best tool that we have to better understand the world and get at the truth. The problem is that people turn to different sources for the scientific information, have different levels of scientific literacy and have inbuilt biases like confirmation bias. This video explores how we can point people to credible sources like publicly funded research that have both expertise and objectivity for reliable information. Sure they aren't perfect but they are not affected by the Dunning Kruger effect or deliberate p-hacking. They employ the scientific method. Their papers are peer reviewed. At the end of the day, we need to understand our audience and look for people that are actually looking for answers. I hope you find this video helpful. A big shout out to the skeptics guide to the universe who are experts in science communication.

Nice. The quadrants are a very useful concept to help decide which comments to respond to in social media posts about science. If you can quickly see where the commentor is sitting you can decide whether it is worth investing the time to respond.

Jesus keeps me going. I will never stop trusting in him, Like so many others, I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition (Lupus) and Heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption from Forsyth Hospital. I’m waitressing but not making nearly enough to make ends meet. Even though I’m struggling putting groceries in my refrigerator, and paying bills. I will trust in Jesus. My husband died years ago. I’m a single mother with two children both of my sons are autistic, So it can be overwhelming. Every month is a struggle, to not end up on the streets. But I will continue to call upon Jesus. I have faith God will provide. He HAS THIS FAR. I’m thankful I HAVE GOD, and Jesus. With God and through Christ, all things are possible.

To say academic researchers are objective is very questionable …
