- Kyushu Mountains, Kumamoto & Miyazaki Prefectures, for a chance encounter with super YAMAME !
This will be my fourth visit to the Kyushu Mountains. We are speeding up and accelerating as fast as we can, developing new mountain streams & new areas. The image I have of mountain streams and rivers is that there are many more of my favorite streams and rivers than in other prefectures, so it is very rewarding! (Especially in Miyazaki Prefecture)
In two early spring pioneering trips over two seasons, I was able to do extensive research in terms of climate, but the fish runs from the main river to tributaries and to branch streams were still very early.
The number of fish is inversely proportional to the number of terrain exploration. As for fish data, it is hard to rely on the most upstream areas of my preference.
This is my second visit in 2022.
We can get data on the fish population, habitat area, size and quality of the fish in each river, but the problem is the weather.
The rainy season is finally over, and Kyushu is directly affected by typhoons.
I was born in Honshu (Nara Prefecture), and from my current base (Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture), I can't imagine what it's like.
Of course, there are instantaneous torrential rains like gunshots and evening showers in mountainous areas, but the impact of a typhoon directly over Kyushu is immeasurable.
Although it was an expedition for a little over a week in the same period last year, in effect, we were only able to fish for about one day, and the typhoon, its rising water, and muddy conditions were not able to take away the fishing at all.
We did extensive research and preliminary inspections based on topographical maps, including the location of the main river and streams, and the distance between national roads and villages & hamlets, but we were unable to collect any data on the stream in the summer of 2021.
During the 9 days in 2022, the weather was generally stable, although there was a little rain. We attacked all of the rivers we had our sights set on at breakneck speed, checking about 20~30 points, and working hard from morning to night without a break.
We were so focused on pioneering that we were not able to relax at all as far as trout fishing was concerned.
I am now focusing on speedy fishing for the purpose of new development, and in a few years, I expect to be able to express and enjoy the variations of calm outdoor fishing all over the country as my own drawer. In the future, I am also planning to fish overseas.
Super mountain YAMAME finally found in the most precious and ideal mountain stream at the top of the Kyushu mountain range, and many more quality fish.
We will be working on the balance between new fishing and youtube filming.
