I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this hidden gem. if only high moon studios could take a break from cod and give this babe the remaster it deserves.
RenderWare was like the Unreal Engine 5 of it's time. No wonder so many great games were released for consoles using RW engine from Criterion. And the Havok physics are awesome!
You know, all this time, I thought the Redeemer had three 6-round cylinders arranged in a line - bear in mind my experience with this game was an article in a Tips N Tricks magazine years ago. Turns out it's actually a box mag underneath, but it still holds 18 rounds.
Duel Pistols were the best for taking on the Braves. Melee cut both their arms off in one hit then they croak on their own, saves bullets to handle the vipers and banshees later
0:01 that moment when you reallise that the single action revolver is somehow shooting double action cool game the guys who made this game didn't know how guns work.

Really decent game. Way too comprehensive review cause I'll never get to talk about this game again: Pre-rendered cutscenes are a bit cartoony graphic wise but nothing major. Decent enough enemy/map and mission variety. Nothing that sticks out but nothing godawful. Not any secrets to explore besides the souls of the damned you need for to progress toward your powers or maybe a health pack. Once you get inducted into the Darkwatch vampire hunters, you do get a few missions at their base where you have a limited choice of weapon of what you start off with. Most of the guns of your choice in the game though you'll pick up from either the environment or the enemies. I think there's only a shotgun enemy and a sniper enemy that use any guns. I believe your Darkwatch ai companions that are just there to die usually will drop others and I don't think there's consequences for doing it yourself but I'm not sure. There aren't a whole lot of missions in the game but I didn't mind since what you see in the video is what you're gonna be doing the whole game besides the "turret" sections on horseback. By turret I mean you're locked to infinite pistol ammo and can't control the horse as you shoot at trains and enemies. Had a unique as hell mechanic where in these sections when the bad guys really started shooting volleys at you, you could press on the dpad left or right and Jericho will fall to one side to use the horse as a shield. You can't shoot like that but you're largely immune to damage coming from the opposite side. Jericho being the badass train robber turned vampiric vampire hunter protagonist (that I think is mute cause I don't remember him talking) that's looking to make amends or doom us all, possibly both. The stronger yet still common enemies might not have been one shot without somewhat rare snipers but aren't so crazy/tanky that they kill the game. They were still fun to melee once or thrice to death if you felt like it. There are kamikaze enemies, skeletons that have an audible constant scream and run at you quickly with a big ass lit powder keg you can blow up. For kamikaze enemies, they really aren't that bad. Don't think I even got nuked by them once. The game also spawns them far enough away that you'll hear them before you see them and get a few seconds to blow them up before they reach you and aren't just behind a flipping corner. Last two bossfights were a kind of a pain for me though. Not the worst, but the blood canteens in the game not only heal you, but refill your vampire powers. Searching for them on the second to last boss was a pain, and I don't remember there even being much healing the final one. You do have vampire powers you refill by killing enemies and picking up the health packs. Not so overpowered you'd save them wherever possible, but they sure as shit weren't so menial I just ignored them. I think the orange bar in the scepter gameplay was a vampiric shield too that does regenerate when not in sunlight. You can't use your powers or double jump in sunlight by the way. Almost all of missions happen at night though. The game actually has, I assume, eight skills to unlock. Four bad and four good because the game does have a basic karma system. Don't know for sure cause I went with a good playthrough. You come up to the hidden souls of the game usually with your vampire double jump, and you can save or damn them to be good or evil. I maxed out my good abilities a little before endgame and I think I was even able to unlock the first evil power just cause I had nothing better to do, so its not like you're more or less locked in like Infamous and you can't have both. The last good ability though was worth not splitting the karma up, I think. There are even story options during the in game cutscenes. Put a dude who just got flown from the gothic steampunk western car wreck out of his misery or feast on his blood. One of the three required-but-complete-in-any-order missions during the part of the story at the Darkwatch base has you tracking down an artifact that can make vampires immune to sunlight. I destroyed it but I'd wager the game would let you keep it for yourself. The devs didn't seem the type to put in the effort to do a bait and switch leaving you with nothing. I think the only choice that affects the ending is the last one, and it does reskin the final boss based on what you chose. Guns felt impactful, grenades I barely used considering melee gun bashing is pretty satisfying and damaging too, especially bashing somethings head and limbs off with one swing. I love that the carbine rifle loads two rounds at a time instead of one despite having a manual reload. I don't care if that ain't physically possible. For a 12 bullet mag you can fully manually reload in three seconds, that felt great. Beat this about four years back and have Ghosthunter on the PS2 on side as well. Sorry for the text wall. Didn't think I'd actually remember half this stuff and couldn't help myself. It was a fun game.
Redeemer has 3 drums in it's magazine. I guess the drums get ejected when they run out and get immidiently replaced with the next. Shotgun seems to have 4 rotating barrels and shoot two at once. The magazine is at the bottom. Can't see it clearly from this angle. Carbine looks like a normal lever-action rifle. Though it does not eject shells. Probably an error or perfomance saving thing. Range rifle is just a lever-action revolver. Nothing complicated. The fact that you have to move the scope to reload it is funny though. Range Rifle is supposed to only have 4 shots. Seems like it was buffed in multiplayer. I am not an expert in Rocker Launchers. I think it looks ok. It has a lever too lol.

Bruh could you imagine if they really pulled through with that remaster? "Just take my money" am I right?
@@CryptTheNecromancer yes
That and Capcom have to get back on the ball with HMS to make it happen and we all want it now
This game looks pretty solid for something that I didn't know existed
Damn the nostalgia just hit me like a freight train 👍
That redeemer fan fire animation was so good. Hoping for a remake or remaster at some point
Man, this Most Definitely takes me back

This, alongside Black, came at the end of that console generation and it shows. It is a gorgeous looking game.
2:18 hit sounds in King of Fighters. Loud af.. for real 😅
I remember finishing this game when I was 16, and that "one cutscene"made me rethink my life choices.
i love this game, whenever i went to my friend's house we played it on his ps2, and finished the game twice
My favourite game on PS2 🖤
Same

Yeeeeeeeeees.
This game deserves a reboot
Man I miss this game soo much!
I loved playing this when I was a kid on an xbox turned arcade where I came from. Almost saving my lunch money just so I can play it with my friends.

I think there are 3 drums inside the magazine. You can see drums on the belt of every Darkwatch agent. I assume they put them in these magazines.
Yeah. You can even see drum appearing out of nowhere. This magazine is fast.

This was a fun game with a cool theme. I even somewhat enjoyed the online multiplayer on Xbox Live
You can play it online? Not just splitscreen?
@@karpai5427 PS2 only had splitscreen, Xbox had the online multiplayer.

I played this game with a friend on a split screen a long time ago, it's a pity that there is no port on pc.

my favourite weapon was the sniper, the rocket launcher, the shotgun, the dual pistol and the redeemeer

Is this shown in a splitscreen deathmatch? Textures don't look as bad as in my game when in multiplayer.
Me parece perfecto que el martillo de la carabina básica se una cruz , lo hace perfecto
