Growing up in Saskatchewan during the 50’s & 60’s dad had always used a thin plastic reed cupped in his hands for calling in ducks and pasted this method on to us! As for geese we would just mimic their “Honking”! The old ways were much more less technical but got the job done! Great video I must admit tho! 👍🇨🇦

I press my tongue toward the roof of my mouth and make a child like "machine gun" noise mixed with almost cats purr. That's what my old man showed me decades ago. I can still see the black duck call. Idk if i'd call it plastic. Maybe bakelite? With some green decoy line tied around it. Damn I miss him these days.
John Muldoon My dad gifted me his Yentzen triple-reed back in the early 80’s. It sounds best in the timber, but it’s still on my lanyard everyday regardless of where I’m hunting. And like you, damn, I miss him. Everyday.

I was always taught “Ticka” or “Dugga”.
The way I learned is saying good a bunch of times but this is still I good method
Having trouble with pintail call. Just can’t get it down.
I have no issue blowing air on the "Tick" part but the "Ah" part never has enough force behind it. How do I improve the amount of air coming from my mouth on the "Ah" part of the blow?
I’m not sure if this is the problem but sometimes getting a double reed is easier to blow until you get used to calling you could use a single reed if you want

What call are you using in the beginning?
My mouth/tongue simply wasn’t built to do this. It’s frustrating. I’m the idiot that sits in the blind and uses a shaker instead. Haha!
