My mum poaches the fish in milk first then uses the same milk in the white sauce :)

Not that you have to the fish tends to keep its structure more when cooked in the pie from raw. the juices in the fish will give the sauce the flavour as it bakes in the oven

I was tight on budget so I used some leftover frozen shrimp and canned tuna chunks. It still tasted great! Threw in leftover thyme and dill just because, haha

Okay, I watched just about every CZcams video for fish pies and none come close to this. None. Making this for my family for 4 years now. Epic. I add bacon instead smoked fish. And some onions. Celery is boss in potatoes. Well played Donal!

I like to add shallots to the rue and I also add baby peas to this:) Some chopped dill/parsley are nice.

I’ve never had Fish Pie. I’m definitely going to try it. I’ve never seen bags of shredded cheese and breadcrumbs; how handy!
I have cooked it many times it’s amazing. I do add prawns, mussels, lots spinach and even boiled eggs))!
to avoid the bechamel from lumps, add the milk bit by bit while whisking :) lovely recipe by the way
