I actually really appreciate and admire when artists, especially big name artists online like yourself, aren’t afraid to show the struggles and the “bad” art they make. When you see people’s art online it’s easy for anyone to get discouraged and feel like those artists make it look easy so it must be easy, or that they always create amazing stuff all the time.
After watching the video I can say that it’s pretty cool how much trouble she had with the challenges but still managed to come out with art, that while she might not be super amazed with, still accepted and showed the troubling process of making it. Really gives you inspiration to make what you want, ey? (Apologies for the terrible joke I posted earlier)

It was because of LavenderTowne that the CZcams alligator rhythm thought it was a good idea to introduce me to Jazza in the first place lol! Recently, Jazza did some videos where he did what LavenderTownde does in her "By the Book" series and he mentioned her series in one of those videos. I believe he also implied he would do a collab video with her, and I have yet to see something like that. If they ever DO plan on doing it, I'd be super excited for it! (I use a lot of their art challenges/warmups as inspiration when I haven't drawn in a while. I also live vicariously through them as an artist who has to use most of her time being in college; I listen to their videos while doing my schoolwork.)

When painting on stuff like cards and paint swatches, you could try spraying them with Mister super clear spray-on sealent to give them some tooth! Be careful though because the stuff is toxic

I don't know what kind of paint u used but acrylic would make your life a million times easier when painting over high gloss cards and stuff like that! ♥️
I have fun with paint because it's so nice when you're upset to throw down a pencil sketch and smother it with paint until you feel better. And half the time my tablet just decides it doesn't want to work, so this means I'm not condemned to day of colored pencil if I want to continue to art

i think the problem with ur neopet paint over is a combo of the paint and the finish of the card. Pokemon cards are way more matte than neopets cards (adding a bit of gesso to the paint could help with this) otherwise i think u did a great job, u don't give urself enough credit.
Have you seen the tik tok challenge, where you take your favorite character and another character from a different fandom and draw a mix of them? I'd like to see that with your artstyle

with both of the acrylic on glossed papers (the paint swatch and the neopet card), it really shouldnt pool that much. i've been able to use acrylic over polaroid film and while it pooled a little it was still able to stick. you definitely have WAYY too much water in your acrylic for what you're trying to accomplish.
This is amazing! I loved Neopets so much as a child/preteen, and I loved Acaras the most. I had one as my first Neopet and it was also my favorite (it's probably still there, starving) When I saw the Acara card I was whispering "do the Acara, do the Acara" And then "YAY, she choose the Acara!" You mentioned the issues with traditional mediums near the end, and one of the complaints you had with them is that they're harder to use. I find the opposite. Digital mediums have no texture, so you can only tell what you're doing by the look of it, which isn't enough information for me. Also, any digital stuff you can make something decent with, especially if drawing using the mousepad is as hard for you as it is for me, costs HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, while I can make a drawing to an ok level with a graphite pencil. I like the customisability of digital mediums, but the things I most want to customise you need cash, coding skills or both to change, and, even if I could get access to that stuff, anything can glitch and I don't want something I spent hours on being erased from existence because I forgot to save. I recognise that there are loads of pros and cons and that the pros might win for you, but I just find digital mediums too hard to do anything more than touchups and comics for school on.
@Charles Fournier Phaneuf Ok. Yeah, it's just that the digital medium I'm able to use right now is the free app that came with my laptop and isn't particularly customisable, doesn't really explain what everything is and isn't touchscreen, so I'm pretty much drawing in one place I can't see so that the rather different results show up on screen. Another thing, you can have as many layers as you want if you're using thick enough paint when you're working in real life, but there's a maximum number of layers in this app, and it's pretty darn small.

You mentioned the issues with traditional mediums near the end, and one of the complaints you had with them is that they're harder to use. I find the opposite. Digital mediums have no texture, so you can only tell what you're doing by the look of it, which isn't enough information for me. Also, any digital stuff you can make something decent with, especially if drawing using the mousepad is as hard for you as it is for me, costs HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, while I can make a drawing to an ok level with a graphite pencil. I like the customisability of digital mediums, but the things I most want to customise you need cash, coding skills or both to change, and, even if I could get access to that stuff, anything can glitch and I don't want something I spent hours on being erased from existence because I forgot to save. I recognise that there are loads of pros and cons and that the pros might win for you, but I just find digital mediums too hard to do anything more than touchups and comics for school on.
@Charles Fournier Phaneuf Ok. Yeah, it's just that the digital medium I'm able to use right now is the free app that came with my laptop and isn't particularly customisable, doesn't really explain what everything is and isn't touchscreen, so I'm pretty much drawing in one place I can't see so that the rather different results show up on screen. Another thing, you can have as many layers as you want if you're using thick enough paint when you're working in real life, but there's a maximum number of layers in this app, and it's pretty darn small.
