Correct. Cebu is already losing billions daily based on JICA study in 2010 for lack of efficient mass transport system. Traffic snarls delay delivery of goods and movement of people working in many industries, causing billions of pesos wasted daily.

actually, there is already a roro ferry (for both car and passenger) plying the Cordova-Jetafe route. compared to Cebu City to Tubigon route, the journey only takes one hour.
If under PPP, like CCLEX, it will push through. Bohol will give Metro Cebu a bigger economy and an expansion of its market as it will serve as a residential area since Cebu is lack of flat lands and it will give the tourist more options in a convenient manner. Although the tourist spots in Cebu like Bantayan and Camotes will be affected since Bohol is more near from Metro Cebu through this bridge, however, the economic gains that Cebu will receive is more big if the bridge will push through. Maayo pud ni para mukusog ang economy sa Bohol kay sa Region 7, the economy is dominated by Cebu. It is even more better if there is also a bridge to Negros because in that way, the economy and tourism of Region 7 will be more stronger.
the next step in what pangilinan (mpic/cclex chair) described as 'super region' like GCR or greater capital region (combined southern tagalog, ncr, and central luzon regions), once all 3 visayan regions are physically-connected by these long bridges
the 'shorter' eastern side has long been combined by FM (san juanico bridge), while as early as '90s, feasibility studies have been done for the western side (panay-guimaras-negros). Let's see if all these major regions will finally be connected and be as thriving as the current GCR

bright jud kaayo ning mga negosyante bai .. sa dakong investment to build that bridge, do you think the revenue from the traffic from jetafe to cebu will make sense .. jetafe is very far from tagbilaran .. this is my take by about this project .. si MVP is building that bridge but the real intentions is to have access to the abundant fresh water from bohol, the pipe running within the constructed bridge .. nganong moingon ko nga bright na si MVP? .. don't forget that the SM group is having a 5000 hectare reclamation in the future .. asa man sila magkuha ug tubig para sa ilang mga buildings and casinos nga ilang pagahimoon in the area .. hinoon advantage pud ni sa bohol for future development and income from their natural resources which is water .. God given ni bai .. but in the Cebu side, is the province ready for the added congestion .. atong mga dalan para ra jud sa tricycle ... hehehe
Cebu doesn't need water from any other island. Cebu has lots of streams, springs, rivers from north to south. So a Cebu-Bohol bridge doesn't make business or economic sense yet or the next 30 years or so.

if mpic (cclex builders) won't prioritize the 'more lucrative' bataan-cavite bridge, after bagging the major contract to build sangley international airport in cavite. I think the more feasible project for mpic right now (in metro cebu/central visayas) is to build a skyway that will directly connect cclex to mcia
There's already a private company (not MPIC)) who will build that skyway/Lapu-Lapu Expressway (LLEX) to connect CCLEX to MCIA.
@@kingrafa3938 Yes, MPIC is already in the talks with that other company too for a possible joint venture again. However, the 'less known' company has no track records to build such ambitious project so Lapulapu City council should be careful in dealing with that company. Lapulapu City is better off with MPIC for the proposed skyway.

FYI, the idea of Cebu-Bohol bridge was started more than 10 years ago, not in 2016. There's a lot of news article about that proposal on google.
In fact, on August of 2009 the Central Visayas Regional Development Council 7 (RDC 7) headed by Cebu Gov Gwen Garcia passed a proposal to dpwh and Korean company about this bridge to conduct a feasibility study if it is feasible to build a bridge between Cordova, Cebu and Getafe, Bohol. 2009 not 2016. That's all folks 😂

It's true po, I've heard some businessman are already preparing for it, they are already buying the adjacent lands for construction.

1/3 or 33% kay naa may 3 ka isla mao kini ang:
1. Cordova, kung asa gi propose ang project gikan sa atoang Gobernador na si Gov. Gwen Garcia.
2. Lapu-Lapu, which is tupad sa Cordova. Dili pud na mahitabo kung dili maapil ang Lapu-Lapu sa kani nga proyekto. Unless kung maghimo ang Lapu-Lapu Mayor og kausaban sa ilang kalsada especially sa Marigondon nga part straight padulong sa dagat unya magbuhat og ilang coastal road para mo connect sa kani nga proposal.
3. Bohol, wala kaayo ko'y nahibaw an nga major road updates para preparation aning bridge proposal. Kung naa gani mo'y nahibaw an, palihug lang og update sa akoa.

Itu heard it is not feasible and has been canceled however in the future it may be reinstated so the time frame may be 10 years or more for the reality of it's construction

Realistically speaking, the answer is a BIG NO. That is if we think about it as a national government project. This is Philippines. Our economy is not yet at the level of Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, or even Malaysia. Besides, the size of the economy of Bohol is not yet that big to warrant an ambitious bridge to be built. I think a bridge to Negros Island would make more economic sense because it has two provinces and their combined economy is way bigger than Bohol. Negros Island as a whole is a major supplier of raw materials to feed the various industries of Cebu: live animals, agricultural products, seafood products, energy (Palinpinon Geothermal Plant), etc. Look how busy are the Cebu roro ports between Cebu and Negros Islands: Samboan, Santander, Toledo City, Dumanjug, Tabuelan, Barili, and Bantayan. We should remember that building a bridge should make economic sense.
TRUE. Its not feasible if they make a bridge to Bohol why not link instead Cebu to Negros Island, the nearest point is to Dumaguete where its famous for expats. Negros is more important to Cebu than Bohol.

local PPP paved the way for cclex, as well as the recently-bagged sangley airport project in cavite, both by mpic (pangilinan). it doesn't have to involve the nat'l govt all the time, esp since local PPP's is likewise the direction of bbm (beginning with sangley), as started by noynoy (cclex)
what could 'shelve'.it, at least for now and for mpic, is actually sangley. mpic may want to get the 'more lucrative' bataan-cavite bridge, now that they got sangley. for cebu/central visayas, a skyway project directly connecting cclex to mcia may be more feasible for mpic at this time
to your point that negros could be more strategic compared to bohol, you may be correct. that's why feasibility studies have likewise been done for the western region (panay-guimaras-negros)
let's see if western and central can be connected first (dumaguete-cebu province), ahead of other planned long bridges in the visayas
I think Tañon Strait between Cebu and Negros is way, way deep. If I am not mistaken, it’s a fault line with Cebu edging northeast and Negros southwest.
The project still in process however base on the project development Cebu -Bohol they have give priority to Bataan to Cavite more or less 23;kilometers as of now.

its not the same , a shallow bay like in Panguil is not the same for a fault passage or sea that means more infrastructure engineering para ma ligon. Bohol sea is deep even the Tanon Straight has fault line movements !
