i never expected mach running in a boss fight would be a legit strat, crazy how literally all of peppino's moveset gets used at some point even at the most optimal levels of play
17:49 I love that Uncle Jeol speedruns the entire previous part of the game in 17 minutes and the game says "Hey, did you know you can jump by pressing Z ?"
The trick at 55:25 is so cool, if you're going fast enough you can just skip over the whole part of getting the ghost in the TV and breaking him out again
Wish I had studied this before getting the P rank for that level some of that would have been really useful for making attempts take less time on such a long level(I lost 2 attempts on the last room)
Today I was trying to get the John suit (unlocked by resurrecting John in 2h 15m). It took me 4 attempts to do this, and right after the final attempt where I had *30 seconds left* before 2h and 15 mins, I see your speedrun of Pizza Tower in 1 hour and 10 minutes. That's impressive, I can't even imagine how people optimize speedruns so much.
One of my favorite things about Pizza Tower, both as a casual player and someone who wants to get into speedrunning once I have some more time, is how quickly/easily a time loss can be made up for. In something like Sonic, you gotta build your momentum back up again. Sure you might have a slope, or some boost in the newer games, but a time loss is exactly that: a time LOSS. In Pizza Tower, getting full speed is as simple as canceling a dash into a crouch, not the most intuitive but hey it works. Time losses from running into walls aren't run-devastating like it can be in some other games.
I pray that this man get the world record one day, he done so much hard work and effort just to beat his time alone. finding new ways and strategies to get through levels faster just to try to get a little bit of time off. That is TRUE dedication.
Speedruns of this game are just beginning too, I'm eager to see how low they can get off easy optimizations, and then excited to see how many tiny optimizations they can make.
I’m sorry, but doesn’t he just pick up the key and instantly leave skipping the rank screen? Unless it’s something else you’re trying to elaborate on. (you might’ve also just been watching the video for the first time while writing the comment which is ok.)
@@zempat ...i was watching this for the first time and didnt see the part where he instantly skipped. I was trying to rationalize taking damage for what seems to be no reason
Late comment but a quick tip during pizza face phase 1 you can quickly damage PF in the first 4-6 seconds by piledriving PF the moment he spawns the cheese slime How do I do it? Well, the steps are : 1. Position yourself in the right side, make sure your grab can reach the cheese slime that will spawn 2. The moment PF is about to spawn the cheese slime (PF spawns the cheeseslime 1 tile away from your starting position, Grab to left and hold both up and to left while you are grabbing (During grabbing, not before grabbing. if you do it before, you will perform a rising uppercut which launches you forward and kill any non-bosses in the way). When you do it correctly you will launch upwards with the grabbed enemy, stunning PF while launching upwards making PF vulnerable to any attacks. But there's a way to immediately damage PF while piledriving. If you are close enough to PF (horizontally), you can damage PF immediately in the first 4-6 seconds another tip is that bodyslams also damage bosses, no matter the height of the bodyslam. Could be useful if you are in the same horizontal position as the boss while you are far away in vertical position. Or just for a quick hit to avoid the temporary immobility while attacking bosses (yk, those crazy kick or punches peppino does while damaging the boss)
I'm not concerned at how he uses Peppino to his advantage, I'm scared how he knows how to optimize every single gimmick into a new record every single time
I keep noticed the enemies just random making a damn Looney Tunes scream sometimes when you kill them, is that just luck based or based on something else? It catches me off guard every single time and I can never help but laugh 😭
You're doing really great man! I wish I could run this game, but I sadly don't have time. Maybe someday we'll see a sub 1 hour speedrun! (Which is fairly possible since this game hasn't been out for too long, so runners will probably fix tiny mistakes until it's absolutely perfect.)
An game that is like 6 hours long without wanting to speedrun it must be like 5 minutes long to speedrun. But Pizza Tower still makes you play for one hour. That is beacuse has no Bugs or Glitches. Good job Tour de Pizza.
