  • Welcome, today we are building a beautiful cane. The handle is made out of cherry, ambrosia maple and walnut. At the base, we have a carbide cane tip with an aluminum wrap to give grip on all surfaces.
Finished with Teak oil and a wax finish. This video takes you through all the steps needed to layout, cut, shape and carve out a comfortable handle for the cane.
Let me know what you think of the build and if you have any questions or comments, leave it in the comments section and I will answer you as soon as possible.

Great piece, Jason! The varieties of wood really compliment each other.

Nice job. Not sure i'd be chiseling towards myself or using a drill like that though. 🤔 Anyway, looks good. 👍

I love your work & your videos! I am just getting into woodworking now that I am retired & have the time. I am working on my first walking stick & your videos have been quite helpful &inspiring. I do have a question about wood. I have a lot of Crape Myrtle branches & I was thinking of using them for walking sticks. What are your thoughts?

Great to hear! Glad that you are getting into carving. I have never worked with Myrtle but I make my sticks out of anything I can find and they've all worked out. As long as they are dry and sound, I don't see why you can't give it a try. Let me know if you have any questions
