Nice video. I didn't know scrim tape could be used outside. I get good results using Tou Pret Murex mixed with a small amount of quality caulk. Just to give it a small amount of flexibility. And doesn't shrink.

Sandtex used to make a bituminous based product with mesh it was very good.

Ive used the zinsser mesh tape on cracks, its very fine, it can be applied with a thick coat of paint...it curls up a bit though.
Im not sure if they still make it.

Imhe, expanding foam method is easiest and most reliable for curing cracks - they don't come back. Using Toupret touprelith f and sandtex trade on current job, which was a flakey, failed mess thanks to previous 🤠

How wide do you need the gap for expanding foam lol

Just rake out the crack and use sand and cement. Then you got materials which may be used for many other tasks in future.

and the crack that keeps opening up when the weather changes and it being on clay soil/ground that alterers with weather conditions?

    Hi Phil
    I need your help.
How to paint over caulk with Solvent based primer/paint ?
I have big gaps on the skirting board and door frames.
I will use solvent based paint, but I am afraid that the caulk will shrink because of the paint.
Is painting with Solvent based paint required some special preparation over the caulk?
    Thanks

    • @ProfessionalPainterDecorator
      @ProfessionalPainterDecorator  Před 18 dny +1

use a decent caulk and let it dry.

      @@ProfessionalPainterDecorator ok, great,
In some areas I will use EVO-STIK Sticks Like Turbo Adhesive,
It's not caulk, but is flexible and strong for big gaps. Do you think this type is ok for solvent based paint ?
      Thanks

I assume that’s the tub of exterior filler that Brian said he’s got for you, When I saw him at Brewers.
    Ps.
Ignore the negative comments Phil. I note you never see a video put up by those that put a negative comment.

Yes, hard as nails. I mean put it on as flush as possible then skim over with your exterior filler after? Would be interesting to know if it did flex with the crack.

  • @folkfingerstylefreddy2154

When you apply that filler, lay it off with a wet brush, not a sponge. If you do it properly, you don’t have to sand it. You want it to blend in with the render, not see the repair. You’re welcome
