⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ The R42 Special Events Train on the D and M Lines (2024)

- After retirement, the R42s have been kept around for duties on work trains, mainly garbage collection and rail adhesion. Here's a view of a set of these cars that have been converted for use as an NYPD/FBI/Homeland Security training train, as well as for movie/TV shoots.
This is a great example of the MTA's policy of adaptive reuse. Notably, these cars were retired over 4 years ago, in 2020. They still seem to run quite well! The reuse of retired rolling stock for non-revenue purposes is considered international best practice in the transit industry. Enjoy!

A time when things made sense
It's been 14 Years Too and so, that #StLouis Car Model of #R42 has been Retired from 4 Years Later like January February March April or Even May 2020 & so, this #STL car Model are (is) still no longer to be in this NYC Subway Service too right here as you all know that tho.....!!!!!!!!!!
So they've kept not only a set of R-32s, but R-42s as well. Cool! The French Connection cars will remain part of the museum fleet, I presume.
Wait they still have a set of R32s?? THEY BETTER PUT IT IN A MUSEUM
These eight cars + 4572-4573 make a full 10-car train, just like a full 10 car R32. The R33 MLs also have a full 10 car train if you count 9542-9543 as the R36 MLs are really leftover R33 shells that would been R33s had the World's Fair not intervened to force the Flushing Line single units to be rushed out as the last 40 R33s.
@@appelifon5000-sv5mk I mean yea? Why not
What’s French Connection?

This is a neat throwback for all of us who grew up in the 90s. Much thanks for the content!
Thanks for your obvious description, I’m like if it still works why throw it with the fishies
Great use of retired cars.💚👌
Honestly the brown M bullet almost looks orange in certain lighting conditions
Feel like nostalgia to see R42 on brown M train.
I never got a chance to take a ride on an R42 Subway train but it's nice to see something from 2010 0:13
I remember when they were new.
@@8avexp Wow really that's cool
Awesome video and nice rare occurrence 😊😊😊😊
I enjoyed the video👍👍
Well it couldn't get to the West End via the Nassau Cut since SMEE equipment is banned from the Montague Tube.
Only straight-sided cars are banned. That includes prewar equipment.
Anyone know which yard the train is arriving from at the beginning?
Nice video
Still Mean that #Philadelphia Car Model like #R32 can be Retired after Spring/Summer 2025 by not that Wrong Year of 2020 2021 2022 2023 and/or even 2024 (since you all did (or done) it already) like that and so, i know that Same Car Model still Came into the Subway Lines like (still) R42 are still the City Train Visiter while it's still Retired from 4 Years Later and so, as we all know we all Miss that NYC Subway Car Model So Much More for That City Ride as well tho.....!!!!!!!!!!
What background music did you use?
You Know Why by Loyalty Freak Music.

He works for the MTA. He was the conductor during the final runs of the R32s and R42s and has appeared during other NYTM events, and occasionally as one of the conductors on a regular train.
@@davidng2336 I already knew about him being in the final run of the r42 but I didn't know he was also a conductor in the final run of the r32
WE GOING BACK TO THE BROWN M WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️‼️‼️🔥🔥
Literally all it takes is one original comment that someone likes to make like a million unfunny original copies.
