    Coach Eberflus has kept the locker room together during these difficult times without a lot of talent, he has coached the defense well, and he’s getting the players to play at a high level. I think his passion for the game, getting the most out of the players, with the addition of the new offensive players, along with the new offense coordinator will result in a contract extension for him.

    I don't understand the media's obsessive criticism of Flus. All I can say to that is journalists know nothing about leadership. To hold that locker room through the last two seasons is truly phenomenal. I've spent my career in leadership positions and I can say, with certainty speaking from experience, he has the right stuff. Now that doesn't mean others see it that way but Poles absolutely has his back.

    I hope he is solid. I know he is of great character. And he seems to be a very good defensive Coordinator. With a real OC, I would give him a longer leash than 2024 regardless. Hope you all agree

    The roster is much improved and the bleeding has stopped with dead cap spending. The great unknown now is the coaching talent getting clutch performances from the young players. The magic 8 ball says YES to a winning season.

    He's definitely on the hot seat. That's why he's not relinquishing the defensive side of the ball. I think anything less than a playoff birth, and he's fired. This offense is in the best position "regardless of QB" I've ever seen in my 40yrs of die Fandom.

    The team is turning around and will compete this year. Poles has completely changed this franchise, Flus replaced most of our offense staff and brought in a competent OC. Hopefully the NFL keeps sleeping on the Bears…..exciting times for our Fan base….🐾☝️🐻👇🏼

  • @CanadianChiGuy23
    @CanadianChiGuy23 Před 7 dny +2

    I look at it this way. Eberflus started off last year with Allen and Getsy, both of which were terrible hires. Allen left half of the team in shambles just from his off field activities, so Flus had to be a HC and DC. Getsy was so imcompetent that Flus more or less had no OC or DC. That's a lot to handle.
    I wasn't jazzed about keeping Flus and even more pissed that Harbaugh was not even a consideration. That was until I heard that Harbaugh wants to play GM too, and is Run Heavy and D-minded.....CLASSIC BEARS FOOTBALL when we were finally starting to focus on an arial attack for the first time in franchise history. I think we have the best GM and Asst. GM in football and an okay coach, and I would not trade out Poles for Harbaugh.
    This year, we have Flus at HC, Waldron at OC, and Washington at DC. I have really high hopes for Waldron, almost to the point that I'm worried about him being so good that he will be offered a HC spot in the next few years. Flus, to me, is still like a DC in the wrong position, to the point that I don't care about Washington, I see it more as Flus's defense.
    If I were Poles, and Flus is not the guy at the end of the season, OR if teams are sniffing around Waldron, I dump Flus and promote Waldron. Honestly, I wish the roles were already reversed. Ditka didn't do crap without Buddy Ryan, and Flus isn't even Ditka.
    But I am patient enough to see what can happen with last year's 2nd half defense, a completely revamped 2024 offense, and new coordinators. I'm even patient enough to give them a half season to gel and for the rookies to break in. But if see playing not to lose and settling for FGs and tons of prevent defenses instead of aggressiveness, I got no patience for that.

  • @momo7gato
    @momo7gato Před 7 dny +1

    Swifty, I think that Flus is still Da Coach with a 9-8 record. With only eight wins, the defense had better stay in the league top 5, and there has to be tangible improvement with the offense. Otherwise, we're back in that downward spiral of the new HC conga line. Let's not even ponder a repeat of a measly seven wins this season.
    If we get double-digit wins and beat each team of our division at least once, then I foresee an extension or new contract at HC for Flus.
    Ten wins should be this season's initial focus that he sets for the team.

    As far as the offense goes, we are building for the long haul so Flus is safe. If the defense regresses without major injuries,Waldron will be head coach soon.

    • @brandonbass1717
      @brandonbass1717 Před 6 dny +1

      You don't know that. Shane may very well depart for another teams HC job after this season or in the near future. The Bears don't fire HCs during the season I wouldn't expect him to be an interim step in either. If he's axed, expect them to pursue a list of candidates to interview. He certainly hasn't proven to be a great decision maker at crunch time and that's a great part of the HC role. The defense has talent so I expected them to improve last season. I don't necessarily credit him for that as highly as some others do outside of it being his scheme.

    • @BearsNCigars
      @BearsNCigars Před 6 dny

      @@brandonbass1717 no one said in season firing but this is a whole different organization under Poles and Warren. They may feel they need to do in season firings. They have done a few things that isn’t what the bears have done in past. But it is quite a possibility and why I think Poles may have had this in his thought process if shit don’t go well with Flus they can bring Waldron in as HC and Thomas OC and the new qb won’t have to suffer by having to learn a new system like the last 2 QBs did. In that line of work you have to be 10 steps ahead and live for the now.

    I remember just how terrible the Bears looked at the beginning of last season. They lost the first four games making stupid penalties, turnovers and looking completely confused with blown pass coverages on defense and receivers running into each other on offense. I had serious doubts with Eberflus and the entire coaching staff.
    In week five on the road at Washington, nearly everyone in the secondary was injured as well as most of the offensive line. This team had every reason to lose once again, but somehow the Bears stepped up their game, including the second string fill ins and the Bears got a solid win. This made me believe that Eberflus’s leadership was real and
    that the team respected and believed in him.

    Agreed, changing HC at this point would be asinine. The funny part is the Bears could field a team with just the coaches. They have that many. Eburflus was selected as HC for a reason. Yeah he came into the team on the down swing, and a not so good roster which explains the first season with 3 wins. He more than double his win total in his 2nd season. So I would normally expect Playoffs this year, but not so much with a rookie QB, but we should be knocking on that door even with a rookie QB.

    Hard to argue against his record. Although , I will. Eberflus has built a amazing culture. You can feel how the players want to play for the guy next to him . I think if Bears go 9-8 and miss the playoffs he will be safe. Hard to imagine if the defense picks up where it left off last season that the Bears would miss the playoffs. I think Poles and Eberflus have a great thing going. Like you said, there would have to be a serious drop off in play

    Eberflus has earned my trust with his new coordinators. Do we really want to continue that pattern? Hell no. Matt Eberflus' job is safe in Chicago.
    Ryan Poles is building this team with his stamp on it. There's only five Pace players left. Borom and Herbert will both have strong competition for their jobs and Jenkins will have to play 100% healthy in his contract year. Kmet's job is safe for the rest of his contract and Johnson is who he is.
    Poles is going to get a cheap deal done with Ngakoue before camp. That is what he told me. lol!

    Coaches don't play the game Prep and staying in the games is where he should be judged. As for offense and putting those guys in the best position that is on the OC. Now he better produce a D that doesn't give up or give the game. I'd say he's safe if the team doesn't implode.

  • @Talbert61

    He and Poles came in together with a plan.
    He has at least this year and next year.
    In the locker room and at Halas Hall I don’t think there are any concerns whatsoever.
    I personally would like to see if there is any improvement in late game situation decisions.
    Can he make the right in-game decisions and adjustments or was the last two seasons intentionally setting the table for what we all hope is coming?

  • @marianchicago4002

    I have this weird feeling that Bobby Slowik will be our head coach next year. I know you are hyped for DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Romo Odunze, Cole Kmet but in the hits team, means we are still gonna try running ball a bunch, means there won't be enough ball to go around all those weapons, my guess with Romo being a rookie, he will get the short stick. I know you are hyped for Shane Waldron BUT I was watching T. J. Houshmandzadeh couple weeks back, and he pointed out that for all the hype Seattle have had, their points per game on offense, defense and total yards are basically on par with the Bears and after checking it, he wasn't lying. Now passing yards and rushing yards are very different, but with Fields running as much as he did, that was bound to happen and I will be honest, I don't want Caleb Williams running as much as Justin Fields did. Eberflus is in a weird spot, I actually predicted he was my dark horse to get the job when the Bears fired Mat Nagy, there weren't many people even talking about him, he's proven to be an almost there coach, first year, got a couple wins to start and then bad luck and bad refs possibly cost the Bears up to 6 wins. Last year, Bears started ice cold and finished hot. To me, he seems to remind me a bit of Doug Collins, Vinny Del Negro, and former bears coach Dick Jauron, guys you hire to turn over the roster, get a bunch of looses, play the kids, get them experience BUT they probably won't have what it takes to take you to a championship. I believe IF bears start like they did last year and play like that for 5-8 games, he should be gone. Anything under 6 wins should be a pink slip.

    Imo coach flus has 100% support from poles and is nowhere near the hot seat. I really expect great things from this team, fans need to be patient it takes time for a new offense to gel, but once they get it, it's going to be really special. The only question is how long will it take, last year we got off 2 a really slow start, but by the end of the season were playing very well. Patience is the key, we're gonna get there.

  • @BigBrotherMotown
    @BigBrotherMotown Před 7 dny

    The MAIN reason the bears acquired Shane Waldron is because he has the potential to step in as head coach if Flus shits the bed. It would allow for the continued development of Caleb Williams because the offense would not change. Flus is not by any means safe. Remember we're talking about a guy who called for a Hail Mary when he was in field goal range and demonstrated on numerous occasions that he could not manage timeouts and 2 minute drills properly. Not to mention the fact that he didn't have the balls to fire (or at least DEMOTE) Getsy for his gross incompetence halfway through the season when he SHOULD have been fired I have faith in flus as a D coordinator but not as a head coach.

  • @jes_40

    I look at it from this prism: Poles went to Flus' house before the Bears traded JF1. I see that as Poles' decision period. Thus how the defense performs that's on Eberflus. How the offense performs that's ALL ON RYAN POLES.

    • @brandonbass1717
      @brandonbass1717 Před 6 dny +1

      GM will always axe the HC inevitably to protect his own job/status when necessary. Alot of ppl criticized JF record as a Qb, but what's the HC record? The HC that costs them 3 games and the playoffs last season, and that most GMs would've certainly axed by now. He's very fortunate of Poles devotion to him, but Poles also knows that GMs don't get to hire a 3rd HC so he wasn't to continue on with the investment until further notice before possibly moving on to a 2nd hire. He hasn't shown me that he's a solid HC, only a productive play caller for the DC. They need a real HC....
