- What a fun store to explore! Come along for my first time shopping at Aldi. Aldi is not a store we have in Alaska, so I really enjoyed checking it out. Wish I could shop there more often for their great deals!

They would have given you a cart if you asked for one inside. Welcome to Texas and Aldi
Fun Aldi fact, when they first opened, the employees that rang up the order not only had to key in each item, they had to memorize the price of all items in the store. Thank goodness for them that was improved on.
Employees still have to manually key in the code for all fruit and vegetables and the heavy items like soft drinks and water 👍
Thats just like in europe lol@@brilliantbutblue
For future reference, if you don't have a quarter for your cart, most employees will loan one, Also, it is often the case that a customer will just give their cart to someone when they are done.
Good night Lauren and Mark and family and thank you for sharing your beautiful day 🌞
If you don't have a quarter, use a house key. Take it off your key chain and use the rounded end.
About 95% of Aldi is their store brand products with names that vary by food category. That’s one of the ways they save money. Another is the carts. Making you put it back to get your quarter back means they don’t have to employ cart wranglers. Not taking things out of boxes is another way they save money. (You could have picked up any empty box you saw to carry your loot around. That is encouraged.) another way they save money is they don’t play any music in their stores. Those ad-free music stations grocery stores use cost money! I like shopping there because their prices are great and to me the smaller stores with less variety of items is less overwhelming. I get a lot of basics mainly: fruits and veggies enough for the week, bread, snacks, milk, yogurt (theirs is definitely the cheapest) eggs, and pasta and sauce. I also will buy fun things too. Their cheese section is great and ever-changing with specialty cheeses from all over the world. Their chocolates are also fantastic and most are made in Europe. They have a sea salt dark chocolate where you get five snack-sized bars in a box and it feels super luxurious for just $1.99. I also really like their home finds section for all kinds of stuff. We got a 4 person tent over the summer. It’s not super fancy, but it’s pretty nice and I think it was $49.99. My favorite casserole dish I have came from Aldi and is a knock-off of the Le Creuset ceramic lidded ones. I think it was $19.99. They go all out with German stuff at Christmas too. It’s very fun. And at Thanksgiving they have the absolute best prices on turkeys.
Many stores do not play music. Not because of cost savings but for the fact that they do not like music playing in the store that may be off putting to customers.
Don’t they also supply dye free products?
Ciao, I am from Austria, living in Italy 🤗and I crow up with "Hofer", it's "Aldi"!!! The products are very good and cheaper 👍!!! I am sorry for my English😅 🙈, but I have started following you weeks ago and I am always waiting for a new video 😀!!! Cari saluti from Trieste, ganz liebe Grüße von einer Österreicherin 👋💞💕, best wishes Andrea
Omg, Everett’s tooth fairy note.😂❤
Glad you got to experience Aldi felt bad you didn't have a quarter ,for shopping cart, Everetts tooth and note was so sweet also loved his shirt inside out and backwards with tag hanging out lol lol 😆
Such a boy thing with the shirt, he's so cute 😍
I love Aldi, you can find the strangest things. If you go back around Christmas they have a lot of chocolate and peppermint treats plus cute decorations.
Aldi is a Swedish/German grocery store, so alot of their items are imported from Sweden and Germany. They also do things in a Swedish/German way.
You can easily tell what is an Aldi brand just by looking at the back of the packaging, just like Walmart.
Aldi charges a quarter for a basket so that you will bring it back. By doing this, they don't have to hire people get baskets from the parking lot. This is one way they keep prices low. Most grocery stores in Europe also do this, but they charge more per cart.
They don't give away free sacks. You either have to bring your own bags, buy their expensive bags, or pull an empty box off the shelf. Aldi is one of few stores that actually encourages you to take empty boxes so they don't have to break them down and recycle them or throw them away. These are 2 more ways Aldi keeps prices low.
Aldi was founded on the principle of making customers do a little more work so they can save more money.
Everett with his missing tooth & the note to the tooth fairy & his inside out backwards shirt is just the cutest 🥰
What a FUN event😊‼️ You’re a GREAT SPORT MARK👍😊That mashed potato bar was a great idea- I have only done that with baked potatoes. The nail salon was incredible with the food‼️Glad you were able to enjoy the day too Lauren. Thanks for taking us along❤️😊👍‼️
The Girl Scout cookies at Aldie are dupe and they’re really good
I live how.he shirt is inside out n backwards lol gotta love him
I don’t go to Aldi as often as I’d like but they are amazing! If you are one who cares about food dyes and such, aldis is a great place to go. Most of their stuff if not all of it has no food dyes in it. So that’s a major plus for a lot of parents who try to stay away from the dyes.
And you know how.
Aldi and Trader Joe’s are brothers from Germany. I buy gluten free items from them both. I am very happy we got an Aldi’s. Oh, I go to Sam’s and Costco, too. Plus several local stores. No one has all the gluten free items. Enjoy.
I Love Aldi!!!! They seem to be the same size store everywhere. Most things are German made products or from Europe. Thanks for sharing Lauren. Safe travels ❤✌🙏
Everett is just the cutest boy. The shirt he’s wearing-inside out is just priceless. Me and Maria just love Everett ❤️
First shopped at Aldi when I lived in Germany in the 1980s, as soon as they arrived in UK I started shopping there and now they are so popular and in nearly every town. They change their specials on Sunday and Thursday. These are seasonal and include Chilcare, Christmas, Halloween, Gardening, Crafts and many others. We always shop on Thursday morning at 8am normally the car park is empty but this time it was nearly full. The reason was they were having a wooden toy event and with Aldi events once things are sold out that is it. Mums were definitely shopping for Christmas the toys are good quality and price. It was interesting seeing how different the stock is. Hope all is going well with the pregnancy. 🎉
Ive seen other You Tubers stay at that exact hotel, it looks so awesome almost like a 70's throwback vibe. Thanks for taking us along on this fun little trip 👍
It was right next to the convention center so even I could walk. It was so cute and charming, I loved it! Wish the kids were along to enjoy all the fun it had to offer!
Sometimes the head of a key will fit in as a substitute for a quarter for a shopping cart
I think you can ask for a quarter at the cashier. Then just return it. Also, lots of other shoppers notice people who don't have one and offer one for free. I do that all the time, or give my returned cart to them with the quarter still inside. It's a nice store.
Indiana/ love our Aldi’s
The isle you called home good section we call it the isle of shame! 😂
ALDIS is a German-based company 90% of their goods are imported from Germany. The most wonderful time to shop at Aldi‘s is in September and beginning of October they bring in all the fabulous German foods for Oktoberfest and the prices are so wonderful and if you hit it at a good time, they do have specials on their wines, meats, cheeses, and just all around kitchen stuff and household goods. Glad you got to experience a trip to ALDIS
I love Aldi’s bcuz they have products from Europe n prices are reasonable.❤💕
We live Aldi! I was excited thinking you had an Aldi in AK. Maybe some day. You can always ask the cashier for a quarter. Sometimes they'll lend you one, or they'll give you change. Lots of their stuff is made my name brand mfg but it is all made to Aldi standards. They have a Twice as Nice Guarantee too. Their chocolates are so good. That goodie aisle is affectionately referred to as The Aisle of Shame or AOS. There a are Facebook groups devoted to Aldi fans. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Your boys are so good. Everett! He's a hoot and warms my heart.
That note to the tooth fairy is adorable! Bring that out when Everett gets married. 😁❤️
Aldi has German week a few times a yr. That's what most of the Deutche cookies, noodle mixes are from.
I'm glad you are home safely and had a good trip!!! Have a great weekend!!
I miss my Aldi since moving to Anchorage.
Lauren if u ever go back to a Aldi, u can use a key. Any key will work, just put it in where the quarter would go, but backwards.
Those frosted sugar cookies are the BEST !!!! They taste like a piece of cake
Good Morning Hamm Family ❤️
Hello Texas. Shout out to my wonderful Nephew, his beautiful Wife, and my Great-Nephew and -Niece. What a beautiful day. I've been to our Aldi a few times... Lidl too. Aldi has awesome bakery items. Now I feel the urge to drop by and see what's new 🤔
Take care and Yah's Blessings 🤗
Almost caught up 🙂
look on the back and you can see it it says made by aldi you know it its there brand.
Ok how you work aldis is how you work Sam's or Costco...grab a box unload it. It's fine it will be just find poured out stack the stuff on another box. I find the nut area boxes the best with a lid if u need it. Ok then pile your needed items in. And walk, or you can go to the counter first grab 2 fancy reinforced bags fill them up as you shop and pay for the bags easy
The peanut butter cups are addictive!!!
We have three Aldi stores within a 10min drive from home. They have speciality sales for things like camping gear, gardening and back to school. My boys school back packs are from Aldi have so far lasted four years and are just now starting to show some wear and tear. Enjoy your trip and soak up some sun while you can 🌞🇦🇺
We have 6 Aldi stores within a 10min drive also. Aussies seem to enjoy Aldi.
You're looking healthy and I'm glad you had a nice little trip for yourself before the girls arrive and the hotel looked so relaxing 🌅💜
No Aldi here in Oregon either, but I think Trader Joe’s is a pretty good alternative. =)
Trader Joe is owned by Aldi.
Absolutely love Everett little shirt on wrong side out and backwards he is adorable
That is a common occurrence for him., if we are not going anywhere I just let it be!
I so love your videos. They always put a smile on my face and make me feel so good. Lots of love and prayers for you and your family.
You are so kind, thanks for spending time with me!
I agree with Everett, the dark chocolate caramels are the best! Addictive!
They were soooo good! Everyone’s favorite I think.
Aldi is very popular in Minnesota. We have actually 2 stores in my small town. Glad you escaped for some warm weather.
Love from Minnesota
Laurie
The 1st time I went to Aldi was near ham lake and it was a very nice store.
I Love Aldi's. Their Dark chocolate Caramels are my favorite!!
So Yummy!
Everette melts my heart, I love his backwards inside out shirt. 😍He is going to be such a good big brother, all your boys are going to be so protective, those girls have no chance at all of ever getting boyfriends. lol
I think if you ask the cashier they will let you borrow a quarter for the carts.
I like Aldi but the produce is hit or miss on the quality. I usually go there first and then go to a regular store for things I can’t find or are better at the other store.
I Found a box to finish my shopping with. That sounds like a good strategy, shop there first and then fill in.
Welcome to Texas I hope you enjoy your visit and I enjoyed your video and Thank you for sharing Lauren ❤❤❤❤
Thanks! It was nice to be back in Texas for a few short days. I have fond memories of growing up there!
@@ThisAlaskaLife what part of Texas are you from if you don’t mind me asking? Me and my daughter live in Commerce it’s North East Texas
Leaving a note for the tooth fairy....priceless. Your hotel room was nice. Even the fridge matched. I've never been to an Aldi.
I love Aldi I do a lot of my shopping there.
Everett is so cute with his shirt inside out and backwards.😊
I love love love Aldi. That’s where I do my weekly shopping. Great good tasting finds.
We loved this place when we lived in ohio... I wish we had one out here! And they have gotten so much better
You need a cart. You know it’s not a true Charcuterie board unless it has meat. Look it up. Get change at the register.Smeg refrigerator is high end, Carmel salt is excellent.
Speculas cookies are Ditch cookies--and DELICIOUS!!! 🥰🎶🥹🇨🇦
*Dutch*
We have Aldi's here in Connecticut I love it they always have such fun stuff to find. Everetts little note to the tooth fairy at the end was so cute! 😄
I wish they had Aldi here in California!!
I read up on the history of Aldi's and its origins. Really interesting. Started by brothers who later split the company with one remaining in Germany/Europe and the other brother spread to outside Europe. From what I remember the company is split yet still under an umbrella company. In order to sell your items at Aldi's and its sister stores the product had to meet certain guidelines. I think Trader Joe's is a sister company too. What you saw is the general set up for every Aldi I have ever been to. Having a quarter, reusable bags and a willingness to experience unknown brands makes it a great place to shop and save money.
We have several Aldi stores in our area that i shop at weekly. So much cheaper then Giants and other grocery stores. Our Aldis are a little bigger then the one you showed. Not fancy but clean and cheap.
Love Aldi. The one thing we really miss after leaving California for Utah. 😢
Everett is adorable! My kids (18 & 26) just found a bin with some of their childhood things inside and had fun looking back at some of their old schoolwork and notes to Santa etc. They laughed at how they spelled certain words but I always thought it was adorable!
You can get change at the courtesy desk to work the cart line.
You’ll find Specialty Brand all over ALDIs. They made a chocolate peanut butter ice cream that tasted like a frozen Reese’s cup. For some reason, they quit making it
Those coconut almonds are SO good!
Love Aldi's! Blessed to have one right down my street.
I will have to grab those in the future!
Festive looking motel. Aldi is ….hard to get past the chocolates …..waving to you from Michigan
Don’t forget to visit Buc’ees
I have to go back my son in law can't stand it but I want to look more. Very interesting place.
Hello from the UK Aldi is my household favourite supermarket
My wife loves Aldi
Love Aldi. Prices are reasonable. Good selection! At Christmas my family loves all the German chocolates 🍫 Most the stores similar as yours . Just remember bring your own bags & shopping carts 25 cents.
I live in Alabama.
I pray for peace of mind and healing rest. You are doing a more important job right now!
🤣 love fact Everett running around sporting his shirt inside out lol
It is a regular occurrence with that one! He hates to change it…. I ask him to if we are leaving the house but let him be if we are staying home. Lol
FYI Trader Joe’s and Aldi’s are not owned by the same Company. The two owners are distant cousins both have the first name of Aldi, but, have never been in business together. The companies have always been separate.
So interesting!! Thanks for clarifying!
Correct! People get confused because there are 2 “Aldi’s”, Aldi North and Aldi South (but in German, because they are German companies) and while both are owned by the same family, brothers or cousins, or something, they are not under the same corporate umbrella. One owns Trader Joe’s in the USA and Aldi stores in Germany, while the other has the Aldi stores in the USA. So same family, same first name, but separate ownership. 😀😀😀
Allison pumpkin roll is sooooooo yummy
@Lauren :: your sons are so well behaved - you asked Everett to go chew swallow and come back :) and he did -- so cute! but his excitement with mouth full with choking drool was also very adorable 😁
In Europe, we need a coin (usually 1 or 2 euro/pounds/franks) for every supermarket cart, so we usually keep a few in the car. You often get coin-like tokens from places like car sales rooms, banks etc, that you can keep on your key ring, instead of using actual money.
Interesting! It is not a thing in Alaska so I didn’t even remember to grab something. I eventually grabbed an empty box to carry my loot in.
Middle aisle is always where I go, when it's gone it's gone
Aldi also do great dupes for skincare and candles, copying high end brands. Their Christmas stock of decorations and gifts is really fantastic, although I realise that this is not an option for you, Lauren. Hope you enjoyed your conference and managed to get some rest when there xx
I got so much rest! Not having to cook or clean leaves a lot do time for relaxing!
Hello from Germany, home of Aldi…Aldi sure is expensive in the USA compared to Germany and we have other Brands over here
Love watching you and the family, always bring smiles to my face.
Enjoyed your first Aldi haul. ❤
I love the inside out shirt!!! Made me smile.
So happy to see you back home
What a fun shopping adventure at Aldi's! You brought home some yummies for sure!
Love Aldi! Glad you got to experience it!
Glad you enjoyed your 1st trip to Aldi!
His note is the cutest thing ever ❤
Thanks for sharing🥰
Aldi is one of the grocery stores I go to for specific things (we live north of Houston) ... their "lite" bread is very good and much less expensive than other brands at other grocery stores. I buy a fair amount of produce there and most of the cheeses that we enjoy. Their cauliflower crust pizzas are delicious, eggs and butter are generally less expensive ... and their frozen food selection is good. We went to an Aldi in Italy, I think, that had a fresh bakery where I got some delicious sweet rolls. Aldi is a favorite place!
Love the decor in the hotel
The hotel was so great! Such a good vibe.
Love, love, love Aldi! Shop there all the time. Happy you got to shop @ one. ❤
I find that their fruit seems to be better than my Wal Mart. Enjoy your trip and enjoy and REST.
I think so too!
Cool hotel! Very fun.
That popcorn is so dang good!
Love the big fridge in your room!
I did. too, only problem is they had so many things for “purchase” in there, it left barely any room for my leftovers. 😂 Super cute though!
This is SO funny!! When I was watching your Costco video today I was thinking how I wished you had an Aldi because I knew you’d just love it! 😅
Good morning like Aldi too great video ❤
I love little kid notes. It’s so fun to see how they spell things. You need to put that in Everett’s baby book to keep forever. So sweet. 😊
The chocolate truffles are wonderful!
You are SO close to where I am!! How neat!!😁😁
Thank you for taking us to Texas Aldi. I am way Northern Ontario. It’s a treat to go southern stores also overwhelming of great choices.
Glad you enjoyed ALDIs. Loved Everett’s lost tooth note!! That’s a keeper !!🦷🦷
