    My cousin who’s deaf, said that she likes the feeling of asmr. She’ll put the volume all the way up so she can feel the vibrations against her skin, which I think is really cool; but this is a super cool creative idea

  • @clmaoo
    @clmaoo Před 3 lety +3231

    I showed this to my deaf sister and she was so excited! She loves visual triggers, but so many asmrtists focus on the sound accompanying those triggers that it can be frustrating for her. So thank you, so much for this. So many creators just don’t care abt deaf people.

    • @ItsMe-ch1yp
      @ItsMe-ch1yp Před 3 lety +177

      Hello! It's great to hear how happy this made your sister and it made me smile!
      I think that saying creators don't care isn't very fair. The ASMR is generally based on types of noise hence the "autonomous" part of ASMR. So the demographic is quite usually those who can hear and so the creators market towards that crowd.
      This is the first time I have seen an entire ASMR video just for the deaf (Batala's ASMR often does sign language) so Jojo is probably the first creator to come up with this idea. Perhaps now other creators can do similar videos based on this because this is really cool.

      Yo, if you're looking for a fairly deaf-friendly ASMR channel, check out Karlie Flowz ASMR. Her videos are all (or nearly all) hand focused. Idk what to call her exactly, like...a hand artist...? She does some very flowy hula hoop stuff on occasion too.
      Some of her videos don't show her face at all, so there isn't the distraction of trying to read her face.
      Another one to check out is Tabuhan ASMR. His isn't as hand-centric as Karlie Flowz ASMR, and it does show his face. But his videos are really calming, with calm motions toward and away from the camera. And I'd read somewhere....either a random comment on here or maybe Reddit..that someone deaf said they had gotten tingles from his channel. I thought that was cool :)

    I usually watch and listen to ASMR to fall asleep, but I'm sharing a room with my 4-year-old nephew, so I can't make to much noise or else he might wake up (and not fall back asleep). I'm so glad that something like this exists! It's like that phenomenon where something is made for one group of people, but multiple groups benefit - for example, sidewalk ramps. The were made for people in wheelchairs, but people with bikes, people with strollers, and people with other wheeled things find them useful as well! (My point being, this was made for Deaf people, but can be helpful for others too, like HoH people and people trying not to disturb roommates.)

    Hey, Jojo! Showed this video to my mostly deaf mother and I figured I should pass along the sort of 'pointers' she brought up as she was watching.
    Mostly, they boil down to 'watch how much is actually going in the video'. When there was too much going on, such as the fact you have gloves on or extremely rapid movements, it can be hard to focus on what you are actually doing with your hands in a calming manner enough to get the ASMR feeling. Having your face in the background was a MASSIVE point as she, and I imagine many other deaf folk, focuses on faces most because they trained to watch them, and sometimes specifically the mouth, for understanding what is being said. It's just ingrained. As a result, whenever your face was in full view and the characteristic Jojo mannerisms were on full display with wide smiles and other funky faces, it was near impossible for her to relax and watch your hands.
    Again, just a little feedback I figured you might like from an actual deaf person, even if they aren't 100% deaf. Keep up the wonderful work!

    For those actually wondering how they got tingles. Short answer, it's visual triggers. Long answer, your brain is reacting to the visual triggers in the same way it would with sound. It's still ASMR and stimulates your brain, just in a different way. Without sound, it gives you room to think about what you aren't hearing so you can actually process what it is that you're seeing.

    As someone who is deaf but can usually get tingles from ASMR videos anyways, this one has me on the FLOOR! I love other normal asmr videos, but this one feels like it was tailored to me! (Well im deaf so I guess it was lol)
    I tend to go for videos with visual triggers since i don't want to have to put it on the highest volume - I don't wear my hearing aid for bed - but people don't focus on them as much as the sound aspect, even if that's what they've put in the title (which fair enough, asmr is usually about sound, i guess). So this one is exactly what I'm looking forrrr!!! It has the visual triggers and NO SOUND! Which means I (1) don't have to put it on the highest volume so as to be able to hear it properly and not miss out on the ☆~experience~☆ and (2) don't have to strain my ears to hear everything if i don't have it blasting and waking my family up. Because this shit ain't got! No! Sound!
    I'm unreasonably excited about this but idk I've been watching asmr for so long now and I cant wear earphones due to my condition so I have to play them out loud but then I have to play them really loud to hear them cos any quieter and it won't be relaxing cos I'll have to focus to hear/understand wtf they're doing or saying and people don't EVER really make asmr where it's just visual triggers like as in GOOD visual triggers that are MEANT to be watched without sound and not meant to just enhance what you're already listening to and yeah. Big ramble but long story short, love it, would definitely watch again, keep up the good work king
