- Mash ki Daal k Dahi Baray | Dahi Baray | Iftar Special Lifestyle with Urooj
#### Ingredients:
*For Moong Lentil Dahi Baray:*
- 1 cup split yellow moong lentils (soaked for 4-6 hours)
- 2-3 green chilies (chopped)
- 1-inch piece of ginger (chopped)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
*For Yogurt Fritters (Dahi Baray):*
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala
- Tamarind chutney and green chutney for topping
- Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish
#### Instructions:
*For Moong Lentil Dahi Baray:*
1. Drain the soaked lentils and grind them with green chilies, ginger, cumin seeds, and salt to a smooth paste.
2. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
3. Take small portions of the lentil batter and carefully drop them into the hot oil.
4. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
5. Remove from oil and drain excess oil on paper towels.
6. Let them cool for a while.
*For Yogurt Fritters (Dahi Baray):*
1. Whisk the yogurt in a bowl until smooth.
2. Add salt and sugar to the yogurt and mix well.
3. Take the fried lentil balls (baray) and soak them in lukewarm water for about 15-20 minutes.
4. Squeeze out the excess water from the soaked lentil balls and gently press them between your palms to remove any more water.
5. Arrange the squeezed lentil balls in a serving dish.
6. Pour the prepared yogurt mixture over the lentil balls.
7. Sprinkle roasted cumin powder and chaat masala on top.
8. Drizzle tamarind chutney and green chutney over the yogurt.
9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
