    Hi, nice job, great puller! The only thing l would had done is lightly rubbed the shaft with 1000 grit wet and dry emery paper where the new seal runs on! If the shaft is damaged l usually speedy sleeve them. Love watching your videos, keep up the great work, thanks for sharing!
    Cheers from down under 🇦🇺…

      Ive done that before to smooth up small imperfections in the axle shafts. That one felt smooth enough where I was pretty confident it wasnt going to leak. Usually only the seal gets damaged but Ive seen a few times where the axle shaft was so scratched up that a new axle shaft was needed.
      Thanks for watching!

    Awesome! I’m assuming removing this seal is similar to the pulley shaft seal on top of transmission.
    Thank you again! Great reference videos! Appreciate the help!

    You are a rock star. I am a senior with 4 acres and a used Z925A with 210 hours. I recently had the left transmission complaining after finding it with lots of dirt and fluid buildup. Cleaning that off has temporarily solved the issue but I can now see what I must do. Probably should replace those seals and caps on both sides. Without your help I can see I would be better off just selling the mower. But I think I have the skills to repair this with your youtubes. If I have the hydros out to replace those seals and caps would I be better off splitting the cases to remove those hubs or should I figure out a puller as you did? If I split the cases to I need gaskets or a gasket type sealer? Thanks In advance for all you do. Its a miracle to me to be able to keep this mower going so I can maintain and stay in your Montana home.

      Thank you for the kinds words. It can be difficult to remove that hub even with my puller. Around 2022 they made the axle shaft and hub one piece so its required to open the hydro to replace the axle seal now. If you do remove the hydro and split it it takes JD sealant PM710XX280, no gasket. You will need to open it up with the hydro upside down so parts do not fall out all over the place. If you do remove the hydro Id recommend replacing the seal on the input shaft and the rubber plug on top of the hydro. They both will start leaking from dry rott over time. Those are both under the drive belt pulley. I have another video showing how to remove the hydro. czcams.com/video/FOZgbp_O9do/video.html

    Any details or pics of the puller you made. ??

    • @Mechanical_Mind
      @Mechanical_Mind  Před rokem

      Its basically two 1/2" thick flat bars that have holes drilled to match up with the wheel studs. Then I have about 4 nuts welded in the center so I can run a long bolt in the center to push against the axle shaft. I use a about 4 nuts in the center to give more threads. It takes a good amount of pressure to pull the hub off.
      For hubs that are really hard to remove I will apply pressure with my puller then hit the hub with a small sledge hammer. Heating up the hub with a torch will help also.
      The newer model mowers now have that hub and axle shaft all one piece so to replace that seal you have to remove the hydro and spilt it open. Which takes far more time and money now.

    Followed your direction and replaced both of my seals. The problem is, it seems that like the race is not moving with the axle, but the axle is spinning inside of the race. It looks as this if It stays stationary while the axle spins inside of it. Should I be doing that. If not is there a fix

    • @Mechanical_Mind
      @Mechanical_Mind  Před 10 měsíci

      Hey Derrick, the race? Are you talking about the bearing behind the seal is not spinning? If not and you are referring to the seal, it stays stationary in the housing and the shaft spins inside of the seal.

    • @derrickdorsey1065
      @derrickdorsey1065 Před 10 měsíci

      The shaft spins but there is nothing spinning on the inner part of seal. Looks like there is a metal sleeve that stays stationary and the shaft spins inside it.
      I am at a loss this is a 72 cut and very difficult to get to local dealer. Is there any way I can send you short vid
      When it leaks seams to be leaking between shut and the sleve

    • @Mechanical_Mind
      @Mechanical_Mind  Před 10 měsíci

      @derrickdorsey1065 Oh OK. Now I see. Sounds like the axle shaft will need to be replaced. If I remember correctly those shaft to have a section sort or like a bushing but it pressed on to the shaft. The newer ones are not like that. Send me the mower PIN #. Also you can email me @ mechanicalmindchannel@gmail.com

      Yes sir. The tag located in the right hand side next to the oil filter has the PIN# And it also has a DOM date. That is its date of manufacture.

    I just had to cut my hub off would not come off with heat hammer and puller. Ordered new hub and they sent me the newer assembly, MIU804607 do you have a different number for just the hub.

    • @Mechanical_Mind
      @Mechanical_Mind  Před 9 měsíci

      The flange part number for just the hub is MIA881397. It might be hard to get since they have updated that axle shaft to a solid shaft now. If your dealer doesn't have one, I'd call some other dealerships to see if they happen to have one still in stock and get them to ship it to you. Pretty soon they will not be available. You may also try calling Tuff Torq.

    you show a lot of spindle replacements are the bearings not replaceable

    • @Mechanical_Mind
      @Mechanical_Mind  Před rokem +1

      Hi Phillip, Yes sir. Im glad you asked that question. Im going to make a video on rebuilding the deck spindles soon. The bearings can be replaced. Sometime the housings are worn out around the bearings and or the spindle shaft might be damaged. If not the spindle can be rebuilt by installing new bearings and new seals. Usually at the dealership the added labor time for opening up the spindle, inspecting it then rebuilding with new bearings & seals comes out just shy of the cost of a brand new spindle. The labor to just swap out the spindle is much less but the cost of the spindle can be steep depending on the model.
      I will be making a video showing how to rebuild one because that could save $ for those willing to do it themselves.
      Thanks for watching and commenting! 🍻
