I find it impossible not to salute when this is playing. Jools, Jops, Stoo, RJ, CJ, Chris, Ubik, Windy, Wifta... gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace, you brave, brave little soldiers.

I remember that hill after mission 19. =( There was no room for tombstones anymore, so I stopped playing and stared at the screen, realizing what I'v done.
This game has anti-war message. Especially at this screen with that music. A queue of recruits who really wants to join the war. They don't know what soon gonna be. Death awaits at every corner. Enemy soldiers, grenades, rocketers, turrets, tanks and helicopters just wait to tear them apart. Mantraps and booby-traps. Even debris, roofs, trees and even snowmans wants their death. And after death they got buried at this hill and got a tombstone, depending on their rank. And why they needed that for? War is not a funny game. You go, you kill people, destroy their tanks and facilities or get shot and your body goes back to your country in a wooden box. This is not a Call of Duty or Medal of Honor - you don't have a LOAD or RESPAWN option. You fight once and DIE once and for all. Think about this when you watch an war movie and think that taking part in a war must be so cool. War it's not FUN! (sorry for my english)

Me too. These games sountracks inspire me to learn to play synth. These melodies is so beautiful that you feel they tearing your heart apart. It is nostalgic stuff for sure, but I am positive, if I've listen this song for the first time, it would also had a very emotional impact on me.
True that man. Remember also those instances where certain soldiers and terrorists are fatally wounded (but not dead) and are suffering in pain? You're prompted to perform a mercy kill OR if agitated to keep on shooting the body across the map before it disintegrates! This game was pretty outstanding at the time.

Yeah! It was the first game that really gave me a sense of loss, not like another game where you just click continue. These soldiers had names and ranked up so it felt personal when you lost one and seeing their graves was a constant reminder and that amazing haunting track really set a tragic scene. Unforgettable!
Richard Joseph was my favourite musician of that era and i was genuinely upset when i found out that he had died. He and Rob Hubbard especially made some fantastic arrangements in their careers. Rip Richard

I remember the furore about this game 'glorifying war' but as soon as you saw the 'missing in action' list and those little, white crosses started to litter the hill, with this music in the background...man, War Ain't So Much Fun after all. These days I can lose whole platoons of fellow soldiers in glorious 3D and feel not a single damn thing for any of them. I don't play new games much any more.
I can't agree with You more Friend. I remember good old days in Poland when I was kid Amiga was everything I had back then. It was long, long ago but when I surf through these old amiga's titles, memory came back to me with a hurricane speed. These are excellent memories. Nice :)

There is cannon fodder 3 on steam (a remake) but it has mixed review and the music isn't as good.
Well that cannon fodder 3 is nothing like cannon fodder 1 and 2.
Playing the original is cool too, easy to find on abandonware

This made me upset when I was little, mind you I was like 6, I used to watch dad play it on the Amiga, I called this the "Crying" music.
