Mario’s Voice will never be the same! Charles Martinet Moves on!

- How good is your impersonation of Super Mario’s Voice? Well, you might be in line as the next Nintendo star! Unfortunately, long time voice of Super Mario, Charles Martinet, has stepped down as the voice of the Nintendo mega Icon Super Mario.
Mr Martinet started voicing Super Mario since, well, since he started having a voice way back in Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64! Charles is also well known for voicing Luigi, Waluigi, Wario and more of Mario’s friends and enemies.
In a post on Twitter, I mean X, Nintendo of America shared a statement that confirmed that “Charles is now moving into the brand-new role of Mario ambassador. With this transition, he will be stepping back from recording character voices for our games, but he’ll continue to travel the world sharing the joy of Mario and interacting with you all!”
Many have speculated his retirement from Mario voice acting since the 2023 Movie contained Chris Pratt as the red hatted plumbing legend and other sleuths even analysed the new “Super Mario Wonder” game footage and noticed that Mario sounded different to what we are used to!
Nintendo has yet to announce who will or has replaced Charles Martinet as the voice of Mario, so I have to ask you: How good is your impersonation of Super Mario’s Voice?

As for Mario's voice, I think after the success of the movie, Nintendo wants to lean into THAT voice since they probably think that's what more people are now used to. I think it sucks Charles got canned, but I understand why.
Nah, Charles is 67, he's getting older, and its not uncommon for people to retire in their 60's in the US, doing the voice for Mario, Luigi and the others has to be pretty straining on your vocal cords after 20 years as well.
Hey Mate! Thanks for your comments and nice thoughts! I am still around! I have been in a bit of hibernation, but this piece of news couldn't go undocumented! Charles is an amazing man and I had to pay tribute! Hopefully I will be posting a bit more, I have a few scripts in various states of completion :D
