- Composed of nearly 200 carats of diamonds, this majestic tiara was given to Queen Victoria's granddaughter Princess Louise as a wedding gift from her husband in 1889. It features hundreds of exquisite diamonds ranging from one to ten carats, including a set of beautiful pear-shaped diamonds set on tiny pivots which would have dazzled onlookers when worn.

For me, this is the most beautiful of tiaras.
Only 2 tiaras even come remotely close to it are Princess Dianas and Fergies! as rivals, but handsdown THIS is a winner!

Yes it certainly is. It's delicacy is what makes it magnificent & beautiful. It's now my favourite, but a close second is Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara.
This has to be the most brilliant constructed tiara I have ever seen. The sheer size of the pendants alone...but the fact they swivel and dangle making the light dance with movement is extraordinary. Truly a masterpiece. : )

I wish someone from the current Royal family wears it, or at least have a model wear it to show it off. The swinging pendant diamonds would look magnificent in motion.

It’s not owned by the current royal family, as in The Queen, Prince Charles, etc. It’s owned by the Duke & Duchess of Fife. It’s on loan to Kensington Palace, along with, I believe, two other tiaras. The current Duke of Fife is the Queens second cousin once removed and lives in Scotland.

@@elizza716 I believe it is actually owned by the government now. When the last Duke of Fife passed away it was given as payment for inheritance tax. The UK government allows it to be on display.

@@arianal.merchan9869 It was owned by the Duke of Fife, not the Queen, so she can't loan it to anyone, it isn't hers. I believe it is now owned by the UK government, when the last Duke of Fife died it was given to the state to cover inheritance tax. The government has allowed it to be shown the QV display at Kensington Palace.
If I was marrying into the royal family, I would HOPE this would be tiara would be included in my choices, and I'd probably pick it. Its is drop dead gorgeous, and I love all the tiaras I've seen, I really like this one the best!!! Just so beautiful!!!

@Denelle Ergh Now the tiara belongs to the UK government, given from the Carnegie family after the death of the 3rd. Duke of Fife to cover inheritance taxes. It won't be worn by anyone, it'll be seen in exhibition only.

That kind of craftsmanship is not dying. As a matter of fact, it has become even better since computers have been added as a design aid.

I like it. Not too fancy nor too simple. Just a perfect topper for a quick trip to the grocery or to meet with your kid's teacher.
Aside from the Vladimir tiara, this rivals and maybe even more magnificent than the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" tiara...
I think it has the edge on the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland"tiara. because of the spectacular size of the diamonds, and the way they are hung.
Both tiaras, and the Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara have suspended jewels..... but only with THIS tiara are they cut jewels, so the sparkle must be superb!.

There is some footage of the Queen Mother, Charles, Diana and Anne attending a film preview of a Bond film..... can't think which, but it is Roger Moore.
The Queen Mother is wearing that Greville tiara, which in still photos looks rather clunky. HOWEVER, as she moves, picking up the lights, in a dark interior...... it fairly BLAZES with light. I think that it is the precise modern cutting of those rather large diamonds that makes it so spectacular.
Then....... let me weep! In 2018, before Christmas, thieves broke into a small museum display and stole the Portland Tiara.
Cartiers had made several tiaras for the coronation of Edward VII, including the Manchester Tiara.
In terms of DESIGN, I consider the Portland Tiara to be one of the most exquisite ever made, reflecting the Neo-Classical style of the Edwardian period, with the finest possibl craftsmanship.
There were a number of quite large diamonds in it. I would presume that the diamonds were quickly ripped out and sold, reducing the tiara itself to no more than a little piece of crumpled gold and silver wire. The police arrested four people, but they have not disclosed whether the tiara is intact, or who might have it, if it is.
I suspect tha idiots were after the stones, and saw no value in the object.
The royal jewels Facebook group had a poll of the different categories of tiaras, and this was the hands down winner of the all diamond category. The other tiaras best favoured in this category are the Great Girls of Ireland and England, plus one manufactured by Faberge.

This tiara would be so perfect for the Duchess of Cambridge. Someone said diamonds look best on a dark background, and her chestnut colored hair would be the perfect resting place for this stunning piece. When Kate becomes Queen, she will need her own tiara. This could be the Cambridge-Fife Tiara. I'd love to see it on her!
It was given to the british people in lieu of taxes and is a museum piece now. It will never be worn again.

I think this is the most beautiful of all the tiaras followed by the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. What I like most about the Fife tiara though is that it's not overwhelming, like it's not swallowing the head of the wearer. Some of the other tiaras, while beautiful, just looks massive on the head of the person wearing it. It's almost like helmet than a tiara. This one is perfect in every way.
The Fife took it over the top with sparkle and no one has made one like it since. The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland I don't ever want to see another woman wear. I is just too much her Majesty. It wouldn't look right.
