After the red card, Mancity should have played quickly to score while Chelsea gathered around the coach. If we are all against wasting time))
Assemblies on the pitch should not be allowed, mainly after scoring a goal I don't know why every one is invited to attend a scoring event (both in men's and women's matches). Even substitue players enter the field which is punishable if the rules are correctly aplied (No one can enter or leave the pitch without consulting the ref.
In addition the "six" second rule that keepers have to follow are seldomly applied.
The entire function of a ref should be revised by the FIFA. Watch a field hockey game to get an idea. No protests there and the ball is brought immediately in play after a ref 's decision.
Wating for a signal of the ref before a free kick can be taken is ridiculous.
One of the great matchups of the new season was destroyed by the Ref! When I was coaching we would from time to time get a ref like this and I would warn all my players that they must play very carefully.
You clearly do not understand the function of a referee. However, the idiotic changes made by FIFA/UEFA is confusing for ref's as well as players and spectators.

Every card that was given during that match, was 100% correct. Complaining against the ref = yellow card, timewasting = yellow card,... People who play football should learn that the ref in always in charge, and not the other way arround... I'm suprised the ref didn't show more yellow or red cards during that match, seeing how many times she was surrounded by players complaing about her descissions...

The ref, the most inadequate I have seen for a long, long time, is a total disgrace to the sport. Hopefully she will not be about to spoil any more games.

This perfectly demonstrated all the ugly results of what happens in football when it's officiated by someone without any intention of applying common sense.
Yellow for descent...when jumping gets you in trouble, football becomes hard.

The 2nd Yellow for time-wasting is the ONLY controversial decision in this game.

There seems to be a mandate or look into approaching officiating in the Premier Lg, in reference to this particular referee. It will be interesting to see what is developing with other games & those officials. Good officiating & experienced referees will handle games much better & safer play. This officiating crew probably lost control of the game. Good officials will use voice to help control the game & rough play.
Every one a valid booking. Some players think that, because they are international players, they can show DESCENT(comical). As though the rules don't apply to them. Most too thick to accept that when on a yellow, you have to be careful.

As much as all of the cards are warranted, sometimes a ref has to let things pass to get a decent game, the more cards the less fun and entertaining it is. No hate to the ref but she could do with cheering up a bit 😅😂

@iaindw1 I'm not denying that, but I think having lack of consistency adds to the thrill of a game in a way!!
(However I am extremely bias as Hemp is probably my fav player, so don't take too much of this to heart 😊😁🙃)

Teams don't generally start timewasting after just 35 minutes, it isn't clear Greenwood was timewasting and the referee does not appear to have given Greenwood any kind of hurry up before reaching for a card. That sending off was unjustified. Several of the dissent bookings were a direct result of this. Hemp's second yellow was harsh, especially in view of the earlier foul on Hemp by Lawrence that left Hemp injured and should clearly have resulted in a yellow card for Lawrence.

In some cases, probably not. Moreover, the ref was inconsistent and seemed to have a chip on her shoulder.
@@kumiellis8374 I am not against Chelsea. As far as this match is concerned, I'm a neutral. And there is truth in what I'm saying. That's why the commentators thought the red card for Greenwood was wrong. That's why current and former players (and I don't mean Manchester City players) think the red card was wrong. That's why the press coverage has been highly critical of the referee. Turning to Lawrence, you can argue that it wasn't a yellow card but you then have to explain why other, pretty much identical incidents in other matches were.
I am a Chelsea fan and this ref should never be allowed to officiate at any WSL game. A ref shouldn't show any bias toward any team, and Greenwood's second yellow was a joke. The ref didn't give any hurry up gesture and Greenwood was looking where she could play the ball to retain possession.
This should be talking about how good the game between two excellent teams was and not how poor the ref was

The F.A.'s purge on time-wasting is a road to hell in a hand-cart. Players can take the ball to the corner flag and shield the ball for as long as they can get away with it - used to be called unsporting behaviour - and goalkeepers can fall on the ball, kick it about before booting it upfield, yet taking 26-seconds to take a free-kick is against the rules. Madness!

Exactly. Nothing controversial about the refereeing. This is happening in the men's game as well. The rules are new so in time this will non topic. Nicholas Jackson got six cards (one-game suspension) and all were for dissent.

Greenwood took 26 seconds to take a damn free kick. If you waste time, you get booked. All the comments are emotionally charged ones from her 'England' teammates and friends from the National set up. It's a yellow card and she was already on a yellow. So that's red

You have to make refs do media now to explain their decisions. It will make refs make better decisions and soothe the minds of fans and players on choices that were made. It will help the refs credibility. So you won't have situation like this happening. Also wtf chelsea. They should have scored 5 goals.

All refs should be as severe as this one. Rules are rules. There was not a single disputable card here. All of them correct, warranted and dished out like the boss that this ref is.
The time wasting one maybe a little harsh but other than that all the cards were well deserved. So, where is the controversy?
Time to change Reffing or Red Card Procedure, no? (ie. Red means banned from next match, or after-match 'punishment')...?
I'm a Sunderland supporter and a recent men's match was affected over 'words' the same way, so maybe Refs also need to grow 'thicker skin'?
