It Was a Mistake to Stand Down Brexit Party Candidates to help Tories in the 2019 General Election

- The Reform Party's Ben Habib, previously a Brexit Party MEP, says that the Reform Party will not do any deals with the Conservative Party at the next election. He admits it was a mistake to stand down Brexit Party candidates at the 2019 General Election as it led to anti-Brexit Tories being elected to Parliament.

The Tories couldn't even scrap the TV Licence with an 80-seat majority.
That had a lot to do with so many MPs being ex BBC employees.
None of the liblabcon parties will drop it, in fact, Labour wants to charge the pensioners if they get in.
Couldn't, or wouldn't? Big difference.
Lmfao 😂 exactly
Simply because they did not want to.

True. Cannot be found on this channel though.
The penny dropped for me as soon as we won Brexit. I knew the Tories would screw it up because I knew the Tories are pro eu.
They are globalists through and through
I still voted independent ,just couldn't vote Tory even though I had voted con all my life ,I just knew that Johnson wouldn't give us a true Brexit ,they were and still are an absolute joke ,it is Reform for me
I could see that May called that election to try to lose it.
We never got it
They lied,as they have all the way
@@maccagrabme From the day Cameron slipped up, and eventually did his runner, the mostly reneging pro EU faux Tories have tried to give the number ten keys to the Labour party, and they had the cheek to drag cowardly Cameron back to help out losing the next general election.
The Tories reneged on the agreement when Nigel stood the Brexit Party candidates down and didn't make him a Lord. I will never trust them again
It's to do with the system a lot of pms in the past wanted to name niegel and was refused told they wasn't allowed
It's run by a committee of sorts and they have to sign off before anyone can be named to be knighted
It's madness.but that's another debate
And that sealed their fate. They are going to pay with their existence for that deception
I will never trust Farage again for doing that , he knew the Tories were Remainers but still did it.

He did it so Corbyn didn't win and take us back into the Customs union.
Don't worry about Nigel his OK got his EU pension instead
I always felt it was an error to stand down candidates because it left certain voters with nothing to vote for. And we were correct as the Conservative buggered up Brexit. Quisling May et al. Wasting years on bogus negotiations, which were and have proven to be irrelevant and detrimental and unnecessary. No negotiation was necessary for Article 50.
It deflated all those who had put in such great efforts to debate with others Brexit etc. in the streets. It ought to have been seen that votes to the Conservative would create more problems than letting in the Labour party especially when done Brexit members may have been elected. At every point they have had no backbone; only served themselves. Blue needs to go because they have failed but Red is not the answer. That would be ddisaster on stilts
Farage did that - say it as it is.
I think the mistake was total withdrawal. In hindsight the Brexit party should have fought 40 seats which would have split the vote to force a hung government. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Brilliant Brilliant Ben Habib...if Nigel Farage is not going to step up and Lead ReformUK I think Brilliant Ben should take over and Richard Tice should be his number2.
Afraid Richard Tice just doesn’t have the get up & go of a Nigel & the Party is in stagnation. Ben is certainly a better option.
Ben Habib wouldake a great Home secretary he'd get things done he'd sort out the civil service get the police policing and get rid of these migrants back to France.
so you want a pakistani pm so you love some immigrants.
Ben would make a better leader of Reform. A natural thoughtful, intelligent, business orientated, articulate person. Brilliant.
Michael Gove would put anyone of politics. Well done Ben 🇬🇧
I'm sorry Peter, I don't have your optimistic view of the future of this country. I do believe that we are going to 'hell in a handbasket'. Why, because there is absolutely nothing and no one to suggest otherwise.
The is no optamisum where labour is involved
These two guys remind me of yesteryear's politicians when polite civilised debates were conducted by highly intelligent and educated people. The calibre of politician nowadays, particularly those of Bangladeshi, Pakistani, and African heritage, is the reason why this country is going down fast.
I truly wish Ben, that you would lead Reform, you're a much more worthy leader. I'll be voting for Reform, but I still want you to lead. You're so intelligent and I know that you have us, the people in your thoughts, first and foremost. Our leaders all over Britain are foreign now aren't they. I feel sick to my stomach because if Labour get in, we are through, totally. I honesty don't want to be here.

who?
What?
Yes, it was wrong to stand down the Brexit Party Candidates. I said so the time. In the run up to the election I was very heavily involved in organising campaign etc in Lincolnshire. I never believed Johnson was a Brexiteer. He just jumped on the bandwagon in the hope it would take him to number 10. Having won the election he did not know what to do to deliver Brexit. A once in a generation opportunity too easily given away, which will never be given again. Either Farage was given some type of ultimatum to stand the candidates down. From whom this came and how etc I do not know, but I believe he was put under pressure. Or, his heart was still with his beloved Tory Party, betraying his young mistress: the Brexit Party. The Labour Party will take us back into Europe, no doubt about this.
It was essential for them to step down. They knew Brexit could only result in disaster.
Zero Seats for the party that does Hope not Hates bidding
Definitely no more deals with the tories did it once and they took the piss
Wait til Reform have bagged all the disaffected votes, then merge with the Tories 😂
Ben you are a placid warrior for the UK. Please keep up the good work
Reminder for the audience that reform cancelled their own candidate (Beau Dade) after being threatened by Hope Not Hate.
They are no better than the tories. Zero seats.
NF once asked me if I thought it was a mistake, and I said yes, I thought that it was.
Thank you Ben and Peter, You give me hope.
No Deals with the Tory's ... OK , how about Hope not hate ? Just more of the same .
Yes it was but it would be a bigger mistake not to be open to going into coalition with them. We will never save this country without PR and that should be the condition for any hypothetical coalition.
No, the Conservative Party's raison d'être is to shadow Labour policies and give those who Labour will not accept a chance to hold office but not power.
Absolutely not supporting PR. We'd have a semi-permanent Lib Dem government under such a system. Weak Labour governments would also do dodgy deals with anti-British parties like the SNP and Plaid.
@@hunter98764 We already have a permeant Uniparty under first past the post, and the Uniparty is destroying this country on a daily basis. At least with PR there's every chance of the Heritage party, Reclaim, Reform, and the Tories forming equal coalitions. The alternative is Farage takes over the Tories and kicks the wets out but Farage isn't a conservative, he's a Thatcherite neocon so I'm not convinced he's the answer either. The plain truth is that we don't have a grass roots movement like the MAGA movement in America, so there are no good solutions right now, only least worst ones.
Tories need to stand down and give reform candidates a clear run
So the plan going forward is? Tell the EU it's our terms or 1. All EU nationals have to leave and the EU cannot export its unemployment to us anymore. 2. Free trade with no tariffs. 3. Any absurd restrictions on travel and our airspace is closed to over-flights. 4. Pay 2% of GDP to defence or we leave NATO.
Pipe dream, I'm afraid.
"Free trade with no tariffs"
This is a very outdated view of modern trade - tariffs are historically speaking very low. The principal concern in the 21st century is Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs). A small yet notorious example: we can't export a single haggis to the USA because they have a ban on products containing sheep lungs.
Are you on drugs? Or only stupid?
Well, kick out ALDI - LIDL - BMW/Mini (no longer a British car) - SIEMENS - DEICHMANN - KNORR etc etc , the list is very long. Next time I leave the Autobahn near Cologne-Aachen I'll stop and go to JBC Deutschland, it's the place
where they have their impressive headquarters: "Go, leave, we prefer Volvo machinery, Sweden is an EU member". Vote Reform.
An eminently sensible conversation. Thank you.
👍🇬🇧👍🏴👍🏴👍🏴👍🇬🇧👍
If you’re conservative or have any sort of traditional beliefs… stay away from the Tories
Reform won't do deals with the tories, only hope not hate.
Thank you for this conversation Mr Whittle, much appreciated
Where are the Reform Party candidates to vote for? Not a sign of one in our area. No use speaking on behalf of a party that is not available for election. Spoiling the vote is the only possibility in our area, as candidates are for the three usual parties only. Very sad we have no real choice. Couldn't agree more about the Archbishop of Canterbury. No wonder people are giving formal religion a miss.
If there is no one atm....put your name forward. Give others option to tick box for REFORM.
@@ciupak7932 Rather late for that in more ways than one.
Be smart - do deals with Tories like Suella, Kruger and Kemi on an individual basis. We need to stack the deck within the Tory Party for the post-election battles to come.
Kemi is a Gove hand puppet.
That would be the sensible thing to do.We may never recover from Starmer.
Poor old Ben - the people who he is sucking up to, are the very people who wouldn’t want him in their living-room. Sad really.
I would have him in my sitting room in a flash! The person I wouldn't have is a Steve bell 6057!a very obviously biased individual! What a damned insidious remark!
Its also a mistake to stand down candidates because HOPE NOT HATE say so, but Mr tice still did it. SO PISS OFF.
More like conform because that's all they're doing.
Well done Peter and Ben
The Tories lied about Everything, It's what they do .
They seem to do deals with Hope not hate. They are not getting my vote.
Ben Habib would make a great Minister of the Home Office!
In my opinion, there is only one viable way out of the Labour/Tory duopoly and that is proportional representation voting. Which will make room for completely new political parties and ideas that the UK badly needs.
The system tends to favour the left wing

Ben Habib seems a good egg however.
Heritage Party is the best option in my view.

I've heard nothing about heritage, just did a quick Google and looks good. I hope they and others gain a bit of momentum so they have candidates I can vote for in my constituency
Is that u Sunak trying to get people not to vote for the only party that will destroy the Tories?
Can anyone show me 100% proof that Tice dropped the candidates because of hope not hate or is it just people running scared off Reform UKs success?
I'll vote Heritage or SDP depending on who has a candidate.
@@brianwhite4672 you're a useless idiot if you can't see the connection where HNH publishes hit pieces on multiple Reform UK's candidates and they all end up being deselected within a matter of hours by the party (the party then going into damage control, floundering and putting out ill-thought-out PR pieces to try and claw back some credibility).
George Orwell made the comment that "The English intellectual class would sooner be seen stealing from the poor box than singing "God Save the King". They have always despised ordinary people and the Brexit Party after the Referendum was the nearest we've got since Cromwell and the Civil Wars to rebalancing the equation. I agree with Ben that standing down the Brexit Party candidates in the 2019 Election was a big mistake - all it did was hand Johnson an 80 seat majority, when it could well have produced at the very least a significant number of seats which could have held the balance of power between Tories and Labour to engineer a proper exit from Europe and start the wind down from high tax and central control. As it stands, there is no difference between Tory and Labour from the point of the Ordinary Man. No one represents us.

Who cares? 🥱
Good morning JN, greetings from Germany near Cologne. It is the tactical method of Reform Candidates, I have analyzed a lot of Farage's speeches, to skip aspects that are not comfortable for them.
Our right wing party the AFD avoids talking about Israel, Gaza, Ukraine etc.
In our partial system they will enter Parliament, this is O.K. 5% is the limit, they might even achieve 20%.
Ben, of course, does not mention that for the EU Parliament only 1,5% is sufficient.
Farage, just before the Ukraine War on Sky News: "What can Russia do? Nato has expanded and Ukraine intends to join the EU? If NATO confirms that the Ukraine would not become a member and not join the EU the Russians would withdraw their troops which were already standing at the border." - Later he said he was misunderstood, China is his arch enemy. I would respond: "Then kick out China from the UK, you'll be surprised what happens."
The UK gave the Tories a tremendous majority, Johnson not believing in Brexit is
humbug, a lame excuse. The UK is out, a justification for leaving, this is what Ben is doing, is irrelevant. The argumentation is stupid, all organizations have their rules. What he forgets is the fact, that the EU is not only France, Germany, Italy, Spain etc but some smaller states that must have equal rights and opportunities. This makes it more complicated.
My country lost in court against Poland and Austria, and it was correct, extreme stupidity by our politicians.
